27 yr old BRENDA LOUISE BYER pled guilty to allowing her 2 pit bulls to maul three people on two different occasions. she was fined $3000. each of the three bites carried up to a $10,000 fine. unfortunately, the judge fined her on the low end of the range, especially in light of the fact that one of the dogs was never "recovered". the first attack on the elderly man who was simply sitting outside of his home when he was attacked by BYER'S two pit bulls. a van pulled up and a woman put the 2 dogs in the back and drove away. a month later, her 2 pit bulls tried to attack a man delivering flyers. he fought them off and the dogs went on to attack to young girls as they walked with their grandfather. again a van pulled up took one of the dogs and drove away. the other dog was picked up and quarantined and then euthanized. byer was initially charged with 12 offenses including dogs at large and expired tags but her attorney worked out a sweet deal with the courts. byer has moved from calgary alberta.
LOOK OUT KELOWNA, BC! the bimbo still has at least one frankenmauler.
byer has until december 8 to pay the fines or "work them off" or she will have to serve 6 weeks in jail.

Yup. And Calgary is always held up as a model for dog laws. "Tough" dog laws. When the dogs attacked the two girls, the man delivering flyers and the guy next door to the house he was delivering to were still chasing the dogs. One was carrying a crow bar, IIRC, and one was carrying a bat or shovel (they were pursuing the dogs because the dogs were headed for an elementary school). Those two men BEAT the dogs off the children. If they hadn't been there the kids would have been killed.
$3000? Nuts. Really, it's too bad she didn't let her dogs out for a romp in the judge's neighbourhood. Not that I'd want to see his kids hurt, but until someone important or influential is personally touched by these attacks they will continue unabated.
Lawyers, folks. It's all these women understand.
They want your kids to die, they want you to die that's why they have these dogs.
Sue and do not stop suing.
It is the only way to address these wrongs.
You should forward this info to the Kelowna daily papers. Citizens there might be interested to know that she, and (I'm assuming) the remaining dog that was responsible for the Calgary attacks, have relocated there.
BC is a haven or nutters and serial repeated attacks are enabled by the A/C professionals there.
Unfortunately, it's too bad that the whole truth isn't told in these blogs. Are you aware that even if you do not own a pet and may be dog sitting for a friend and that dog behaves badly, the one on the end of the leash is totally responsible for any and all damages they do?
i'm not sure what your point is. is this a good or a bad thing?
