the georgia witch hunt continues

wrightsville, georgia saturday morning an elderly woman called 911 and reported dog fighting on her property. when the police arrived there was a fight in progress. JIMMY JOHNSON, age 29 was arrested. three dead dogs were found and 12 dogs were confiscated. two people are expected to turn themselves in.

JIMMY JOHNSON and ROGER WILLIAMS, 27, of sandersville, turned themselves in.

The woman warned her son Friday to stop the dogfighting, and on Saturday when she saw a crowd gathered around fighting dogs outside her house, she decided she'd had enough, Smith said. "She was tired of this."

You do realize that Tom Garner is a notdogfighter (file photo of a dog fighter)? He's never stepped over the walls, never turned a report into a magazine, nothing.

Peddler and helping to destroy the breed? Yes. But a dogfighter? Never and I laugh when I see people refer to him as such.

you have breeders of fighting dogs and you have transporters of fighting dogs and spectators and gamblers of fighting dogs. they are all as guilty as the person who fights the dogs. they should all face the same legal consequences.

but i will consider changing the caption "to breeder of fighting dogs".

If you know Georgia, you would understand. I, personally, have seen a couple of sheriffs take bribes from dogmen/bootleggers. A lot of them are bootleggers. What happens is as the population grows, the sheriff's department grows and takes on deputies that are against this sort of activities. The sheriff goes on vacation and the deputies take the opportunity to get warrants and bust the dogfighters/bootleggers. When the sheriff gets back to town, he gets pissed off at the deputies and takes a bribe to get it thrown out. It's the way of Southern Law, especially in small areas. Just from what this lawman said and the way he said it tells me enough. Comes from experience. He probably solicits dog fights to be held in old chicken houses, known sheriffs that did that too.

It's a fact. I know of several people in Georgia animal control who have sheriffs call them up to tell them to disappear evidence from dog and bird fighting busts

Make it go away.

The law in many areas of Georgia is more corrupt than the criminals! Some of these sheriffs get a cut of the night's take from the pit.

That is changing however and these losers have eyes on them. Among other things.
