58 yr old KATHY WITZMAN
BROOKFIELD, OHIO pit nutter KATHY WITZMAN has been charged with animal cruelty and open dumping. the judge has ordered her to stay away from animals until a criminal case is complete. the judge ordered the 201 animals taken from her home to become the property of the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County. if convicted, WITZMAN could be prohibited from being around animals for up to five years.
thursday WITZMAN, operated the Humane Sanctuary Inc. (here's another link) for the past 14 years, pleaded innocent to the two charges and was released on her own recognizance.
WITZMAN kept 162 dogs, 15 cats, 14 chickens, five ducks and two horses in her house, barn and backyard. the authorities who raided her "sanctuary", found filthy conditions in the house, and dogs that were not being fed, watered or kept in a humane manner.
witzman didn’t turn away aggressive dogs. lots of mushy wiggle butts in the slide show.
Witzman said she believes the dogs — most of them living in cages or chained to dog houses in Witzman’s backyard or in a barn — were better off there than dead. what a freakin psycho!
WITZMAN said some of the dogs were thin but only because they came to her that way. She said the two dead dogs found in the house were alive when she left but were attacked and partially eaten by other dogs because of the commotion in the house Friday.
WITZMAN'S next court date is march 4.
WINOGRAD should be proud of her accomplishments.

These are the ones that follow the Whino, his Whinonettes. No kill is the battle cry of hoarders. They love no kill shelters like Philly. I bet some of those animals came from Philly.
Every one of those Pits up for adoption has a caveat...No kids, no other dogs, hates lawnmowers...
Which neighborhoods in the US have no kids, no dogs and no lawnmowers where these animals can be safely placed?!?
Time to sue these reckless outfits into oblivion.
This is EXACTLY what Nathan Winograd says.
Dogs are better chained up in the weather, dying horribly, than "euthanized."
Better off living in cages going insane than "euthanized."
Better abandoned to die in the woods than "euthanized."
Better left on the streets to starve or get hit by a car, or shot, than "euthanized."
Because his whole agenda is not based on CARING about animals. It's a shell game with NUMBERS (euthanasia numbers) because he is selling a product and promoting the sale of his "No Kill" product.
Ity's all about fooling with the euthanasia numbers. If animals die horribly but aren't euthanized, Winograd claims that is a success.
This mentality appeals to mentally disturbed hoarders and naive (mostly) women looking for easy (but false) answers and tricks.
"She told Judge Rice she would try to come up with $2,250 in bond money by Monday to retain the rights for a month to three dogs she believed would not fare well under the care of the Animal Welfare League because of their aggressive tendencies."
And what are the dogs she wants to take back (or warehouse at the shelter)?
DANGEROUS DOGS WHO WILL KILL PEOPLE!
If anyone helps her get these dogs back, they need to be legally served that they are liable for anything these dogs do.
This situation is very similar to the Pets Alive situation in upstate New York under the direction of Sara Whalen.
She suddenly died.
http://supervegan.com/blog/entry.php?id=805 for some honesty about that situation.
"After founder Sara Whalen died in March, visitors to her Pets Alive animal sanctuary found something completely unexpected: "600 sick and neglected animals were found locked in filthy kennels" at the Middletown, New York facility. Kerry Clair, a former employee of Whalen's, said, "You could volunteer for a year and not realize what was wrong, because she was careful to let you see only the good part." Leslie Farney, who recently adopted a diseased and neglected dog said "the place looked like Auschwitz."
Best Friends was involved in the clean-up of that No Kill hellhole, and Best Friends was actually being honest AT FIRST about the abuse and torture that Whalen committed. Then someone decided that it was illustrating a common problem with the No Kill product that Best Friends was trying to sell with Winograd, and all the pictures and descriptions of abuse disappeared and Sara Whalen got whitewashed.
This is terrible evil by people supposedly in the "humane" world.
There are many more of these No Kill santuaries doing the same things right now in every state. I hope that people take a good hard look at them and do some investigating.
They need to be LICENSED and INSPECTED, just like the breeders.
Better off killed and eaten by other dogs than "euthanized".
THe CURRENT director of Pets Alive, Matt De Angelis, was involved with the "sanctuary" when Sara Whalen was abusing animals.
He did NOTHING.
Now he's in charge of it.
Now of course things are going downhill again.
"In February, 2008, finances became a big theme as Matt DeAngelis blogged about "too many animals and not enough space" while being "blind-sided" by a $3500 electric bill" and "Two months later, in April, 2008, Co-Executive Director Kerry Clair blogs about an urgent need for adequate kennel runs for aggressive dogs then at Pets Alive"
THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO WERE DEMANDING THAT ASPCA GIVE THEM OREO THE DANGEROUS PIT BULL AFTER IT ATTACKED PEOPLE!
In November 2009, a foreclosure notice showed up in the local papers for Pets Alive.
ANOTHER bad No Kill situation getting sold by people who have grave issues when it comes to the humane.
(And Matt DeAngelis has a history of promoting Nathan Winograd. Is there a direct connection? You decide. The Oreo debacle certainly makes it appear to be the case, since Winograd was smearing Ed Sayres of ASPCA before it happened.)
Regulate these handmaidens for breeders and dogfighters now!
Here's another fine No Kill sanctuary special from Pennsylvania
See that they kill people too. And these two culprits are still roaming around out there somewhere, probably with another No Kill setup

I can't believe no one has been charged in that murder!
I can't believe they plea bargained this case and she got off with a fine and probation. Her ass needs to be locked up with no food, water, or shelter to suffer like these animals did. If you haven't, go to www.animalwelfareohio.org to view the pictures from this raid. The articles do not do this situation justice. I'm glad I wasn't there because I have no idea if I could have controlled myself if I saw Kathy. She is a murderer and doesn't deserve to breathe the same air as these poor animals she clearly tortured.
i share your feelings of rage mark.
