the new but not improved DANIEL COVERSTON
where to begin....
first of all, this really important piece of this crazy puzzle slipped by me. thanks to honesty helps for shooting it my way.
the january 31st edition of the auburn journal dropped quite the bombshell. it was revealed that daniel coverston attempted to bribe a city official with $10,000 to get his dogs back. of course, coverston's sleazeball attorney denies the bribery allegations. it is not clear yet if coverston will be charged with attempted bribery but the sheriff is investigating the case.
and another bombshell...
as coverston desperately tried to regain possession of his dogs over the last few months, the staff had been copiously taking notes on the pit bulls' behavior. it seems that the dogs were not only exhibiting extremely aggressive behavior towards the shelter staff, they were also engaging in self destructive behavior. the dogs received tranquilizer drugs twice a day from the end of october to the end of december. the dogs licked themselves bloody, threw themselves against the kennel walls, broke teeth biting at the chain link gates and injured their feet trying to jump and dig out.
“The staff was having more difficulty keeping the dogs from injuring themselves. Every morning they would come in and the runs would be bloody.”
maui, the dog that bit tia torres, came very close to mauling a staff member. fortunately, maui only succeeded in tearing her clothes.
as i think back over the details of this long drawn out and bizarre case surrounding these vicious dogs and their equally bizarre owner, another strange case comes to mind, DR SASO BARICEVIC. two men going to desperate extremes to regain possession of their small pack of powerful, extremely dangerous dogs.
i will be so happy when this case is no longer in the news and this freaky puke fades back into oblivion.

The question is, will the taxpayer be reimbursed for the costs incurred by someone trying to keep FIGHTING DOGS? By someone trying to keep dangerous dogs that are a threat to everyone in the community?
Maybe a citizen will initiate a class action lawsuit against the Coverstons on behalf of the victimized taxpayer?
There is a LOT going on with this story, so many questions to ask. The first one that comes to my mind is ... a $10,000 bribe offer, where is the money coming from? How is Coverston paying his lawyers? If pit bull owners can't behave in a ethical manner then holding them financially responsible seems to be the only option. It appears that the Coverston family has the cash to pay the victim's medical bills. I hope that happens.
He might fade for awhile, but you know he's going to get 4 more pit bulls and this is going to start all over again.
As I understand this guy comes from a rich family who evidently supports their son in his perversions. That's probably why Tia wanted Otis so she could milk his family for "donations".
Coverston is not unusual.
These people are all around us, insisting they have the right to have violent dogs that attack us and our families.
They are flat out saying that their fighting dogs are more important than the lives of honest citizens and their pets.
"two men going to desperate extremes to regain possession of their small pack of powerful, extremely dangerous dogs."
I might add, also of questionable genders. it is a shame that Coverston didn't meet a similar fate as the doctor.
Coverston absolutely sickens me. I hope that judge has the good sense to recall Otis from Tia's care and euthanize it.
Tia drove past doomed 300 Pits in the LA shelter system to get "media dog" Otis...And the Nutters complain about a Pit Bull Papparazzi!
