Well, as you all know, pit bull attacks are over-reported and they aren't different than other dogs (at least if you follow the 1,000 point pit handbook). I must be a really lucky person then seeing the number of events I or someone I know have experienced around this breed.

My dad's co-worker has a live in girlfriend who has been at his home since April 2011. She brought a few animals with her, 2 older dogs and a young pit bull. The other night the guy had the audacity to get up from a chair and cause it to squeak. Well, this annoyed poor wiggle butt who promptly launched an attack. The guy is a big country boy and was lucky to sustain only major bruising with punctures on his forearm, the same on both sides near his kidney area, and a proper bite on his leg that required 19 internal stitches and 13 to close. The girlfriend came down and threw a gate at the dog that it is afraid of, apparently wiggle butt kryptonite. The dog is scheduled for that final shot on Tuesday. Seems like a long time to keep the thing in your basement after that, no? The local media hasn't reported it since neither the police nor animal control were called.; November 18, 2011 4:26 PM

Bill Bruce, head of Calgary’s animal bylaw services, said his staff is seeing more cross-breeding to create super-sized dogs, some as heavy as 68 kilograms.

“People often don’t realize they have got more dog than they can handle,” Bruce said. “It would be like if you just got your learner’s permit and you were handed the keys to a Turbo Porsche Carrera.”

Cameron said more community effort is needed to combat the problem. “I think the community needs to say that actually breeders are running a business and need to be regulated in an appropriate manner,” she said. “We regulate people who have firearms in their house but not a dog, and a dog can hurt and kill.”
