here it is, as plain and simple as it gets.
this beagle was attacked by ONE pit bull.
this beagle was attacked by a pack of 14 dogs. ONE good samaritan intervened, drove off the pack and saved Tucker.
compare Tucker's injuries to the beagle above. compare the intervention required to save Tucker from a pack of 14 dogs (ONE UNARMED MAN) to that of a single pit bull who attacked FIVE adult male police officers. compare the intervention required to that of the berzerking pit bulls that require crowds, all sorts of weapons at hand and lethal force to end an attack. you don't have to dig deep into archives, here is the most recent.
THIS is why pit bulls are different. THIS is why pit bulls MUST be treated differently and this is why they MUST be regulated.
I agree totally. I think that people who own aggressive dogs should face harsher penalties if their dog attacks. If having a pit bull could mean a felony charge, they might think twice.
ReplyDeleteBut then again, you have to wonder why they want one in the first place.
for me, this isn't really an issue of aggressive dogs. german shepherds are aggressive. rotts are aggressive. both the rott and the GSD would retreat when faced with crowds of people beating it to end an attack. this is an issue of gripping dogs.
ReplyDeletethe normal behavior of a pit bull resembles a rabid dog.
ReplyDeleteFurious Phase: "Mad Dog Syndrome"
The second phase of infection usually lasts 2 to 4 days and not all rabid animals experience it. Animals that enter immediately into the final paralytic phase are sometimes said to have dumb or paralytic rabies. Animals that spend most of their diseased state in the furious phase are sometimes said to have furious rabies. An infected dog may viciously attack any moving object, person, or animal; a caged rabid dog will chew the wire, break their teeth, and try to bite a hand moving in front of the cage. Rabid cats will attack suddenly, biting and scratching. Foxes will invade yards and attack dogs, cows, and porcupines.
They may show the following signs:
Craving to eat anything, including inedible objects
Constant growling and barking
Dilated pupils
Disorientation
Erratic behavior
Episodes of aggression
Facial expression showing anxiety and hyperalertness
Irritability
No fear of natural enemies (e.g., wild animals may not be afraid of people)
Restlessness
Roaming
Seizures
Trembling and muscle incoordination
i dont doubt pits are the worst of the worst , especially when every thug , druggie, criminal , wannabe has to have one....idiots. for me personally though , strong and truly aggressive dogs in general are a big issue , not just pits. ive had problems with pits but also other dogs that people are just not dealing with responsibly . many people are just not cut out to be dog owners ....or parents too for that matter.
ReplyDeleteHave I said yet today how much I hate pit nutters?
ReplyDeleteThe Vick case while cited as a great victory by the Nutters is a perfect example of genetic differences.
ReplyDeleteIn the fairy tale, the Pit Lobby omits the fact that Vick owned 65 dogs,,,among the non-celebrity dogs, there were 9 Beagles, 2 Rottweilers and 1 Presa de Canario. The Beagles were immediately adopted into homes by the Beagle community. No fanfare, no 5 year rehab, no $Million dollar insurance policies required
5 years later, around 40 percent of the Pit Bulls live in above ground cemetary at Best Fiends going through "Rehab"...and since the Vick bust in 2007, Pit Bulls have killed nearly 100 Americans,
Beagles..ZERO!
You Can't Make This Stuff Up!
well yea but people are like that too . 9o percent of the trouble is caused by ten percent of the people. a lot of them have pitbulls no doubt. we are the beagles with the odd shepard or blue healer, the pitters are the high maintenance shit bulls.
ReplyDeleteA little beagle just bit me today at the dog park! I say its not even about the breed of dog its about the owner. I have always owned different breeds and the best dog so far is a pity girl. The owners, like parents, are responsible for their animals.
ReplyDeletea beagle bit you TODAY at a park. WOW! the advances in medical science are truly impressive. either that or you are a super duper human, regenerating scalp and limbs like a salamander. CONGRATULATIONS NUTTER!
ReplyDeleteoh wait a minute. maybe i should ask.... did it break the skin? or did you deplete the area blood supply during the triage?
