Dear Readers of Craven Desires,

This is "Diggs" I have collaborated with Craven in the past and have diligently stood by his work as well as dogsbite.org. Two sincerely wonderful and critical resources that are adamant about showing the inherent danger that pit bulls pose.

While all three of us have slightly different philosophies on how pit bulls should be handled. Let it be known that I am a person for strong and inherent responsibility of pit bulls and that I firmly believe that if the pit bull apologists do not change their ways in the following year. I may very well stop blogging of the inherent benefits BSL possesses and advocate for an absolute ban.

My blogs are resources. Ranging from the benefits of BSL that truly corral the mess pit bull apologists have caused for themselves, their dogs, and most importantly, their victims. People like you and I.

If you would like to follow my blog on how BSL benefits, please visit this link.

If you would like to visit my in depth tracking of pit bull attacks as well as contribute, please go here.

If you are adamant about educating people on the dangers of pit bulls and want to enforce laws that regulate who gets to handle these dogs, please show anyone who may be misinformed these blogs and spread them like wildfire. Along with Craven's Truth About Pit Bulls and dogsbite fatality reports.

Diggs.

Their vocaliztions just encourage every tom, dick and inbred harry to get a pitbull thus putting our lives and those of our pets at risk.

  9. Makayla Woodard's family has started a blog to discuss the pit bull issue in NC, they are advocating for a breed ban but seem to be asking for discussion as well. Please remember how recent and tragic their loss is and be considerate. They're trying to make some sense of a senseless loss. http://makaylaslaw.blogspot.com/

  13. I am in full support of BSL, though my local government is not. With the dropping price of DNA testing (about $50), it seems that cities could easily incorporate this into their licensing of dogs.

For example, in some cities, you are required to purchase a yearly license for your dog. When you obtain a new dog/puppy, that very first year you should be required to get a DNA test on the dog/puppy. Anything that is more than 49% 'bully' would be under whatever BSL restrictions are in your area.

Shelters would be required to have this already done before they adopt the animal out. When you renew your regular tags each year, you should have to provide that paperwork to prove that the DNA test has already been done.

This eliminates the question of whether it 'looks' like a pit or not and allows the owners to make the choice of whether or not they want to keep a dog that is under the BSL restrictions. Shelters could even do a swap of sorts. If you got a free puppy out of the newspaper, did the test and found out it wasn't the Lab/Chow mix they told you it was -- that it was a pit/Lab mix and under the BSL restrictions -- you could turn it into the local shelter and get $50 off the adoption price of a new puppy/dog that wouldn't be under the BSL restrictions.

  14. I went and looked at the blog concerning the Makayla Woodard case. Sickeningly enough, the pit nutters are on there gibbering about such idiocy "racism against pit bulls" and how if BSL was enacted, the authorities will come to their homes and take away their pibbles. Never mind the fact that two of these dogs just butchered a little girl.

Truly disgusting and shameless wastes of space, all of these people.

Police say the dogs involved in this attack are "playful and lovable"? WTF! Did they not just attack a woman and her service dog? This kind of description of the breed is part of the problem. Of course they got loose through the fence. Pitbull should be only behind chained link fencing..preferably electrified.

    ReplyDelete
  24. electrified, sunk into the ground two feet with a foot of razor wire on top and an alligator moat surrounding it.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Pit bulls usually cannot be contained by the typical canine type electrified fence.

Must use livestock electrified, or you should install it at the top of your existing fence if you think a neighbor's or stray pit can climb

(and remember the video we saw of pits climbing 12 foot fences)

Base of fence should be concrete or rock, so pit bull can't dig under it, and the quality of the fencing must be intense. or the pit bull can break through

Heavily prickly hedge inside fence is an add on

and consider a livestock prod if you think you may get cornered or jumped

  29. I used to believe that good owners and advocates of pit bulls could solve this problem themselves, that restrictions alone would do the trick. Not anymore. What did it for me was conversations with nutters who told me my posting of facts about pit bulls would lead regular people to go out and kill random pit bulls. They felt they had a right to threaten me into silence in order to protect pit bulls everywhere. With people like that, there is no choice but to take the animal in question away from them with bans. Someone with such demented ideas is not capable of owning a pit bull safely, nor do they have the ability to care about any other living creature beyond their pit bull. I have never met a single pit bull owner I would consider responsible and educated about the dogs, and I have met plenty, which leads me to doubt if such a person actually exists. If they do, they are so few and far between, they cannot possibly make a difference at this late date. And I would still question why they would want a pit bull, knowing what they are and knowing the type of people that own them. Pit bulls will be wiped out one day, and no matter how much people like us and the media are blamed, it will be a direct result of the actions or lack thereof of pit bull owners, breeders and advocates. Quite frankly, the dogs deserve better because they did not ask to be born with the genetics they have.

  30. There was an awesome psychological portrait of the typical pibble owner last night on Intervention. More than just a few scenes of the smacked-out-of-her-skull junkie shooting up in the car with wigglebutt riding shotgun.

The full episode is up on the A&E website if you missed it yesterday. Good times.

  31. Thanks for the info on cattle prods - there might be some good ones, but I've heard mixed reports on how effective they are at stopping a pit bull attack.

When I take my chihuahua-terrier-hound mix on her nightly walk, I carry a sturdy folding knife. If any pit bull attacks my girl or I while we're out on a walk, it will be significantly impaired by a severed esophagus.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Did anyone check out the recent episode of Confessions: Animal Hoarding called "Too Many Pit Bulls"? You can read more about it on the Animal Planet website. It was about a guy who thought he was on a mission from God to rescue pit bulls. He had about 20 of them. They ate his Sister's cat and his Mom's little dog. He let them around his tiny daughter also. Really cringe-worthy. It's episode 11 if any of you want to download it from Torrents (bit-torrent)...that's where I got the full episode myself...

  34. Anonymous 3:09,

I agree that a knife is better than a blunt object, mace, or a stun gun. Better is probably a gun and knife. A blunt object, mace, or stun gun (the usual dog protection) is recorded in multiple incidences to not dissuade pit bulls. I would not just go for the esophagus as you stated, but try to disrupt the major blood vessels in the neck. That is the fastest way, I believe, to end a mauling with a knife.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anon 8:59,

Thanks for the tip - yes, I agree that you'd want to go for arteries, but hopefully I'd hit some of those if I try my best to slice the neck of the frankenmauler wide open all the way to the spine.

I admit it all sounds rather gruesome, but I have 2 goals, #1 to stop the attack on a innocent dog as quickly as possible, and #2 to make sure the mutant can't ever hurt anyone else.

I found this post to be jaw-dropping. Since you sometimes post "internet chatter," I decided to send it your way. This woman has an out-of-control pit bull on her hands that attacks everything in sight and has killed at least one dog and 5 "stray" cats (how does she know they were strays, I wonder?). She asks the pitbull forum for help, and she gets a chorus of "The dog isn't doing anything wrong!" I don't know whether to laugh or cry...

    ReplyDelete
  42. that's priceless. another fucking marji beach, donna reynolds, brent toellner idiot. i agree with the pitbull-chat people, this pit nutter is the reason that BSL is a threat to them. she is in complete denial about genetics.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Interesting thread from pitbull-chat. All responses clearly indicate that the members are well aware of aggression in the breed and are after this particular member for putting pit bulls in a bad light. The dead puppy gets sympathy but it was a resident in the home of another nutter. Nobody is worried about the safety of the public. Why can they be so honest behind closed doors but when they makes statements to elected officials or the press, the story is VERY different?

    ReplyDelete
  44. There's a video on You Tube showing a pitbull rushing in a cage that has a lion(female and probably not well fed)grabbing the lion by the throat...used that as an example with a pit lover I know as far as the geneics in the breed..of course I got the same response..trained to do it and it's the owners fault...if I tried to get one of my Mastiff's to do that they would turn and look at me as if to say" Are you insane! That's a lion!".

  49. I will read any of these blogs, and post data on it whenever I can. Please everyone, keep working on this. We need to get the word out to the public that pit bulls are dangerous dogs.

I would like to see more information on human maulings, as well as animal maulings. This is the real statistical mind blower for some people learning about the dangers of pit bulls.

A person is killed about every 13 days, but many more people are mauled in that time. And pets...the numbers are eye opening. Many of these maulings are life changing injuries.

People need to keep fighting this. We have the right to live in our neighborhoods and not be mauled or killed by dangerous dogs.
