Tia Torres: Tehachapi Bully

In a very ambitious campaign to bully the residents of Tehachapi, Tia Torres has spun a wicked fairy tale to incite frothy rage in thousands of pit nutters across the US. The fantasy features "an individual on a witch hunt" ...who is... "spewing hatred" against the victim supreme - the pit bull. "Never in my dreams would I think that such an angry and hateful woman co-existed there." Torres has the pit bull posse signing petitions left and right demanding that Tehachapi comply with the nationwide nutter population's demands to allow Villalobos to open a shelther there.

In reality Torres' "individual, angry, hateful witch hunter" is Merle Carnes, a woman in her late 60's and in poor health who just lost her husband a few months ago.Carnes is president of the Old West Ranch Property Owners Association and was acting as such when she wrote a letter to her neighbors in Old West Ranch. In the letter she urges her neighbors to weigh in against the dog rescue for many reasons. Most of her concerns would be applicable to a 100 dog rescue for any breed, though the fact that many of these dogs are no ordinary pitties, but demonstrably aggressive pit bulls already judged dangerous and removed from owners by court orders is a significant factor.

-->
Carnes and 7 out of 8 of her neighbors are concerned about the impact of a large population of dogs will have on the community for a number of reasons:
· A much smaller rescue on the same site posed quality of life and safety problems for the community.
· Torres' rescue will be 12 times larger than the previous rescue.
· Concerns about the quality of supervision of both the dogs and the parolees
· High number of fighting dogs when dog fighting has been a problem in the past in the area.
· Negative environmental impact of 100 dogs with regards to water pollution and air pollution.
· Increased potential for air-borne dust spread disease Valley Fever
· Negative impact on roads and increased road maintenance costs.
· Concerns about 100 barking dogs diminishing community's quality of life.
· Torres' assumption she will have free access to her neighbors' properties with her dogs (trespassing)
Carnes is not making any of these concerns up. In June of 2010, before the community was aware of Torres' plans, Ken Mixon wrote a letter on the Old West Ranch Owners Association facebook page enumerating some persistent problems that needed to be addressed in the community:
· Stray dogs and owners not following the law
· Trespassing
· Speeding on dirt roads - The Air Pollution Control set the speed limit for dirt roads at 15 mph. This is a health and environmental issue
· Tight budget
Ken Mixon has since decided to support the 100 dog rescue in the neighborhood. He transmitted portions of a letter sent to him from Torres to the OWR HOA facebook page in which she states that she has had "ZERO barking dogs complaints."
That directly contradicts what is reported in an interview with her that was printed Nov. 4, 2010. 'Torres not only contends with her neighbors, who don’t like the barking dogs, but with law enforcement. “It’s a tough battle here. We get harassed by law enforcement a lot,” she says, waving her black-tipped nails in the air. “We get phone calls from law enforcement from all over the country. They love us, except right here in our own county (Los Angeles County.) They hate us.”'
Carnes is not alone in voicing her concerns, however; Don Olsen on the OWR POA facebook page raises the following issues:
· Quality of life deterioration when triple chain link fencing and concrete perimeters and multiple storage containers create an eye-sore like the one in Agua Dulce
· Potential danger if dogs were released in the event of a wildfire
· Increased traffic from parolees and workers, visitors, and camera crews
· Unreliable "promise" that road maintenance will be paid for by the TV production company only so long as the show lasts
· Rumors of expansion to other properties

And in addition to the issues raised by community members, it would be wise for the community to question Torres about these additional issues:

· Reliability of supervision of the facility in light of the fact that there have been legal problems at the Aqua Dulce property both with drugs and stolen property
· Who owns and who will be responsible for the property since Tia Torres does not own it?
· How big will the rental cabin venture be? What kind of facilities will be provided for the renters?
· How many animals will actually be there including rescues, pets and exotic species?

But back to Merle Carnes, Tia's scapegoat created to bully an entire town. When a devastating wildfire broke out last summer, Merle Carnes delayed her own evacuation to make sure her neighbors had been alerted. When her car wouldn't start, a neighbor rescued her.
After the fire, "as board members of the POA, Buzz Grantham and Merle Carnes (led) the team on the Ranch working with the Salvation Army and the Red Cross and doing the coordination between them and the fire victims."

While supporting a large 320 wind turbine project by Terra-Gen, Carnes brokered an agreement to move or remove three turbines that would have been placed too close to the Old West Ranch area.

Carnes was publicly thanked for providing hospice care for a neighbor.

Merle was not alone in helping out after the fire. "Merle Carnes, said it’s the type of community where everyone checks on everyone else to see how they’re doing. Carnes, who is president of the local homeowners association, said they will be taking care of people who have suffered losses."

Not only is Torres attempting to scapegoat Merle Carnes, she is trying to create a rift in a community that has been able to be self-sufficient because they have helped each other out and taken care of each other.

Torres, talking out of both sides of her mouth, first condemns Merle Carnes as a meddling, disinterested person, suggesting that "(t)his woman lives nowhere near the new place yet she, for some reason wants to shut down an organization..."

Then Torres turns right around and threatens to bring in people from hundreds or thousands of miles away to somehow legitimize her cause.
'A hearing has been set for March 10th where the community and Torres will get a chance to speak their minds.
"It's gonna be a packed house. We have supporters coming from all over the country," said Torres.'

Torres and her friends have been spreading the word that if the county board denies her a permit and a variance, Villalobos will be destroyed.

If villalobos is moving to Tehachapi and leaving Agua Dulce, then Torres needs to explain what she is going to do with all her animals. At Agua Dulce, she has over 120 pit bulls, uncounted dogs of other breeds, about 20 wolves, her own pets - dozens of cats and dogs, and a couple of bears.

On the other hand, if this is an expansion, then it is an outright lie that Villalobos will be shut down if they aren't successful in bullying their way into this community. And if it is an expansion, who is going to be supervising 100 pit bulls and parolees at the Tehachapi rescue, her daughters?

In addition to Torres, the actual owners of the property should also be present at the hearing on March 10th because they will be legally responsible for the maintenance and any accidents that occur there. That's right, Torres' name is not even on the deed to this property. The deed holders are Tia's daughter Mariah Harmony Kaye, a 19 year old judgment-proof girl and a real estate agent named Veronica (RoniR) Raczkowski. Raczkowski is also the "California Team Leader for Best Friends Network."

The town of Tehachapi should know what kind of people are bullying their way into their town. Tia Torres, mother of two daughters and "adoptive mother" to twin boys, describes herself this way:
"I'm a rebel, I'm an advocate for the underdog and I've become disenchanted with the "system." (don't count on her to care about traditions, rules, or laws). My kids are my pride and joy even if they don't think that's the way I feel about them. I have a husband (in prison) who adores me more than life itself (she's got no competition) and I am overwhelmed with his heart (but his brain that put him back in prison, not so much). My dogs have been my life saviors and I wouldn't be where I am today without them. My life revolves around all of the above. And though I'm am perceived as a thick skinned, hard as nails, don't give a shit kind of person, its' only because of what our family has had to endure (it's the world's fault if she's a selfish outlaw). We are true believers of Karma and feel that because of all the good things we try to do as a family, that she (karma is not a goddess, but whatever) will protect us and if need be...become one hell of a bitch (the gods are on her side, not yours). Screw me once, shame on you. Screw me twice, shame on me. Fuck me a third time...watch what happens (did this suddenly get literal?)."
Aren Marcus Jackson, Torres' currently incarcerated husband on the 3 strikes rule was arrested for possession of stolen property which was found at Villalobos and which he blames on one of the other parolees.
The twin adoptive sons, Kanani and Keli'i, "started off by just working here on weekends...and they're still here. And they fit right in with the rest, getting speeding tickets and getting their cars impounded...and you know, they're now part of the moll's extended family." Remember, people, 15 mph for the environment and the neighborhood! yeah right. The twins fit in even better with the parolees when one of them got busted for meth and heroin at Villalobos.
Both of her daughters are following in Tia's footsteps, pussyfooting way past independence into the land of the outlaw.
Here's Mariah, co-deed holder of the Tehachapi property and her older sister Tania in October 2010:
Giving the nutter salute

And here is their new motto as of February 26, 2011:

Lyrical, isn't it?

In addition, there are the parolees. Torres assures the neighbors she doesn't hire sex offenders but I guess apart from that anything goes. She also claims to have forgotten one of her current parolees offenses...FANTASTIC supervision and very reassuring to the community.

The town of Tehachapi also should know the kind of people Tia has whipped into a frenzy of hate and spite and will be coming to Tehachapi from all over the country for the hearing on March 10th.

This is a smattering of responses to Tia's call to arms:

Chris Burk "This woman (Merle Carnes) is nuts!!! It sounds to me like she is trying to draw attention to herself Because of the TV show. Some people have nothing better to do that to try to cause other people problems!!"

Then there is Lynda Fleming Wright:
who says of Merle Carnes, "So sad that some people never do any Good in their lives, only try to stop people like Tia...This woman I'll just call her Cruela Diville needs to step up and get involved in something worthwile..."

And Tehachapi, please be on the alert for creepy riff raff like this guy invading your town on March 10th to intimidate you:
"I'm behind you all the way Tia !! Making some calls to legal peeps :) I met some really good ones since the last time I was here !"

Who knows maybe Stevil Helmer, his band Die Hard Til Death, and his pit bull might all be there to visit:

With Hanging Friends

The pit bulls, the parolees, the Torres, and their fans - who wouldn't want that circus to move into their remote, independent, close knit, and environmentally fragile neighborhood?

  1. Tia Torres hangs out with game dog pit bull breeders and people connected to dog fighting.

The dog fighters say she represents their interests when she promotes pit bulls and opposes laws.

These are criminals, they have criminal records, they are tax cheats, they enjoy killing people with their dogs. These are bad, dangerous people.

And now they are terrorists, organizing terroristic activities against law-abiding citizens.

This is Department of Homeland Security interest.

These citizens need to call the FBI and DHS.

Tia Torres is going to get someone hurt or killed.

There are MURDERERS in her pit bull lobbying world that are getting cranked up.

  2. And what is Lynda Fleming Wright's connection to the game doggers? What is her tax status?

  4. And I'd like to know what Marjorie Kaplan of Animal Planet (Discovery Networks) has to do with this terroristic activity of Tia and friends?

HER cable channel is going to be using the site to film their trashy show and make money.

Kaplan, who lives in an exclusive community that DOESN'T ALLOW PIT BULLS, sure seems like she is backing up this terrorizing and forced threat to these citizens, and maybe even funding it!

    ReplyDelete
  5. These citizens should be suing Discovery and Animal Planet, and Marjorie Kaplan (Tia's friend and advisor) personally.

This is all a money-making corporate scheme that will flush the community down the toilet, but make Marjorie Kaplan and Tia Torres richer.

  6. Marjorie Kaplan

    http://corporate.discovery.com/leadership/marjorie-kaplan/

Keep in mind that this woman and Discovery Networks MAKES MONEY off Tia!!

This is a big corporation using Tia to cash in.

Tia Torres is NOT acting alone in this terrorizing.

Marjorie Kaplan and Animal Planet and Discovery Networks want to use this community as their toilet bowl, while they make money off it.

Is it actually Discovery Networks money buying this place?

This is a CORPORATE shill going on. Kaplan and Discovery are just using Tia Torres to cash in on the pit bull fad.

Kaplan doesn't care how the money is made. She will do ANYTHING to make money. She doesn't care who dies, who gets their property destroyed,

It would not surprise me that this Torres "business" is a shell for Discovery money forcing themselves on this community.

They clearly are having problems where they are filming this at Tia's current place. They need a new production area to trash.

    ReplyDelete
  7. And Marjorie Kaplan seems to be having Tia use the tactics of her idol Saul Alinsky, which includes smearing anyone who disagrees with you, and intimidating and terrorizing them.

Kaplan and Disovery just want the money, and they need a new production area to make that money!

They'll try to destroy anyone who doesn't let them trash a community while using it as a production stage.

  8. "How big will the rental cabin venture be? What kind of facilities will be provided for the renters?"

Tia and Discovery are trying to steal Best Friends business!!

  9. "Veronica (RoniR) Raczkowski."

And friend of Marjorie Kaplan of Discovery Networks!

This is a Marjorie Kaplan scheme, and all this grandstanding and lying about the Agua Dulce site closing is a product of Marjorie Kaplan and her corporate Discovery Networks Animal Planet machine.

Kaplan and Discovery need a new production area to make money.

And I guarantee you the connector here is Jane Saul Berkey, already connected to Best Friends and using Best Friends to lobby for and promote fighting breeds. Saul Berkey's Ledy VanKavage also works for Best Friends running this circus.

Wonder how many calls Saul Berkey and Kaplan have shared?

Best Friends is obviously afraid of turning their operation into a pit bull store (even though they have been steadily dumping their animals)

Despite the fact that Best Friends is now pretty much ONLY in the pit bull business thanks to Saul Berkey etc, Best Friends and Berkey still want to dupe the NON pit bull people into giving them money to promote pit bulls.

All of this is what happens when greed and moneymaking enter the pet world.

  10. I just don't understand why pit nutters want to throw away the safety and concerns of the community over dogs. Fact still remains, this has nothing to do with people who don't like pit bulls. This is for the safety of the community and it's values. They have already had problems in the past in that particular spot where they(Villalobos) wants to move to.

If anything, I believe the nutters are the one jumping to conclusions before hearing the supposed "opposing" side. They automatically assumed that this women just did not like pit bulls and she was the only one who was againist the idea. This isn't just for pit bulls, but for any rescue with that number of dogs. But the fact that she has dangerous pit bulls in her rescue, only gives the community more of a concern. The vast majority of the community agree, it would not only be a safety issue but it would bring the property values down, in other words or an example, if someone wanted to sell their home, it would be downright difficult or almost impossible.

Some of the dogs are non-adoptable and have been deemed vicious. Many of them I am sure are dog aggressive which is also a concern and doesn't help their case much.

Hey Craven, another blog you should do should be about Shorty Rossi, another clown who puts dogs before people. Flipped threw the channels Saturday and came across him trying to convince a manager of an apartment building to let her tenant have a pit bull when her contract clearly states: NO PIT BULLS. He thought that if he brought his dogs out, it would change her mind and even spewed the "nanny dog" myth...*rolls eyes*

  12. More on Tia Torres and these Twins before she "adopted" them, and what she did to them while they were "volunteering" at her "charity"

    Broken up into parts

    A

"While on the surface, Tia Torres appears to be championing a noble cause in the rehabilitation of pit bulls, however, there is another side to Torres and Villalobos dog rescue center that I am sure she does not want the public to know about. It is my hope that you will do further investigative reporting on Torres, her staff and the activities happening at Villalobos dog rescue center.

Villalobos is a non-profit organization and Torres gets funding from public donations, state and local government. However, such funding should be questioned based on recent events that I have spelled out in the following letter."

    ReplyDelete
  13. B

"My experience with Villalobos dog rescue center began two years ago when my younger twin brothers Kanani Dana Chock and Keli'i Cameron Chock started working there. Prior to Villalobos, my brothers were excellent students, they were admired by peers and excelled in high school sports. However, after they started working at Villalobos, they dropped out of school and disconnected with family and friends.

About a year ago, my brothers became involved with Tia Torres' husband Aren Marcus Jackson, who had recently gotten out of jail. He had been in jail for approx 14 years for the attempted murder of two Orange county police officers.

My brothers moved into a house on the Villalobos dog rescue center property.

About nine months ago, we found out Kanani and Keli'i were using crystal meth intravenously. When confronted with the drug use, my brothers promised to quit.

Three weeks ago, I got a call that Keli'i had been hospitalized due to a drug overdose.

By the time Keli'i was taken to the hospital, he had fallen into a coma. It lasted for two days. He eventually pulled through, however, I later learned that Aren and Tia had been "nursing" Keli'i for four days prior to taking him to the hospital. It wasn't until Keli'i started having convulsions and was unresponsive that Aren decided to take him to the hospital. When we asked them what had happened, Tia and Aren assured us that it was not from drugs but some sort of mental health problem."

    ReplyDelete
  14. C

"At this point, we were more than just a little concerned about the health and safety of Kanani and Keli'i. We realized that they needed the help of a drug treatment center.

The boys looked up to Aren and we felt it would be helpful he talked to them about going to rehab. But Aren held the opinion that rehab "doesn't work" and that they will ?use again.? After Keli'i had gotten out of the hospital, my mother took him to an NA meeting. Aren told Keli'i "not let them brainwash you."

Aren should know about drug addiction, he was hospitalized about a year ago from a drug overdose and according to his Parole Officer is still using. Meanwhile Tia just stands by and pretends that she knows nothing about what is going on there.

In a last ditch effort to get the twins to stop using meth, my mother organized an intervention, seeking help of Intervention Service & Technologies (www.interventionservicesinc.co...).

On Sunday, September 9, 2007, we held an intervention. Keli'i was receptive. He agreed to go to a treatment center in Kentucky called Liberty Ranch (http://www.thelibertyranch.com). Immediately, he was put on a plane and flown to Kentucky to begin a drug rehab program. Kanani was not so receptive, he did not go to rehab, but did admit to us that he had a problem. During this time that we learned that Kanani had been arrested for suspicion of possessing methamphetamine during a September 6th raid on the house on the Villalobos property. In addition, I heard that the officers found eight ballons of heroin on the property. To confirm this please refer to the police report. No one from the Chock family was contacted. Allegedly, Tia Torres posted bail, which was $10,000, and picked Kanani up from the police station.

On Monday, September 10th, I spoke with Aren Jackson. During our conversation, Jackson reminded me that he was in complete control of my brothers and they would do whatever he told him to do. He said that there were ?certain conditions that needed to be met,? before he would release my brother to get help. It was unclear what the conditions were. Perhaps it had something to do with the recent raid on the property. When asked what he meant by "condition,? he told me that my brother needed to "testify" on [Aren?s] behalf and that after he had done so he was "free" to go. When questioned about the date of the hearing he would not give me a date except to say that my brother would not be able to leave until then. The conversation became heated and Jackson started threatening me, yelling "Do you want your brother or not?"

Wednesday. I received more bad news. Keli'i had left rehab and was on his way back to Villabolos. Allegedly, Tia Torres had bought him a plane ticket home."

"I have read several articles on the internet from the L.A. Weekly to the Daily News that commend Torres for the work she is doing to save, protect and rehabilitate pit bulls. I do not understand why a pit bull is more important than a child, more important than my brother. What is Torres motivation to keep my brothers out of rehab? Why is it so important to have them at the Villalobos? She knows they need professional help. She was there when Keli'i overdosed and had to be taken to the hospital. Are they helping her run drugs? I cannot predict the future but I do know one thing that is certain. If my brothers do not get the help they need I am afraid that they will end up in prison or dead.

In addition, what about the tax dollars and donations Torres receives to care for the animals. When she spent money on the plane ticket or the $10,000 bond. Where did that money come from?"

I love that Tia is buying her kids puppy mill puppies. Great.

    " Maria Torres-Cardello

Tia Maria Torres-Cardello grew up a "rich brat" in Los Angeles, going to the yacht club for Sunday brunch with her parents. But teenage rebellion soon kicked in and she found herself running the streets of the "hood" and hanging out at "dangerously fun" parties. It was here that she fell into the edgy life of "gangs". Somehow she managed to barely make it out alive and took these experiences to build a career of passion from it. In working with high risk youth, she soon combined another love of her's: dogs. Together, years later she has built an empire for the largest Pit Bull Rescue in the country and conducts programs with these dogs in her quest to help also rehabilitate inmates and troubled youth. Controversial dogs and controversial people: the only way Tia would have it. Her mission statement? If you're gonna bite, bite hard.

Tia is the proud mother of two daughters:

Tania Marie, the oldest of Tia's daughters (20 years old) grew from a pudgy Latina infant, to a tall, olive skinned Venus. Raised by Tia as a single Mom (Tania's father was a gang member, in and out of prison and shot during a drug deal gone bad), Tania grew up to be a secure and head strong young lady. Though she is constantly being told that she should "become a model" her passion in life has followed in her mother's footsteps...she works with dogs and eventually wants to work in juvenile hall where Mom's program Pets In The Hood is conducted weekly. The loves of Tania's life are her Pit Bull, her French Bulldog, her truck and her tattoos.

Mariah Harmony, 14 years old, but the soul of a 40 year old, is Tia's "little angel". Dubbed "the little peanut" growing up, she soon blossomed in a multi-beauty queen with titles such as Jr. Miss Agua Dulce (her home town), Jr. Miss Hawaiian Tropic and Jr. Nat'l Miss. But don't be fooled by this "tiara queen", she is a tomboy at heart. Her loves include her Pit Bull, her French Bulldog (yes what one child has, the other has to have the same too..and they're not even twins), her motorcycle and MySpace. Her career goal??? A criminal defense attorney. Are you surprised? These ladies are definitely a family that are cut from the same mold."

  34. Not sure if anyone noticed this...but on the Villalobos Facebook page, the rescue is described as having between 200-250 dogs. That figure is repeated throughout the internet in stories about the rescue. In an article from August, 2009, Tia is quoted as saying she is close to her 250 dog capacity. I even recall an episode of the show where she talks about her capacity of 250 dogs.

However, on the Villalobos home page, the rescue is described as housing 150-200 dogs. If her capacity less than two years ago was 250, it has now dropped. Looks like Tia has reduced the size of her rescue. She has 114 dogs for adoption on her webpage currently, and 6 listed as in rehab for bahavior problems, but potentially adoptable. Thats 120 dogs, not including her personal pets, and any dogs that are there by court order for being dangerous, which are not adoptable.

I don't think she is being straight with the public about how many dogs she has, or the fact that she is esentially cutting her rescue efforts by more than half. Will she have all the unadoptable dogs euthanized when she goes to her new location? No one seems to ask. And what will happen to all the other animals living on the property...wolves, bears, etc.?

    nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.

Pit nutter, There has been zero gun crime in my neighborhood in the 16 years I've lived here. But, a golden retriever was mauled to death in its own back yard (not reported in the media) down the street from me by a pit, and my neighbors' pits menace me and my dogs daily. Better believe I'm starting with my own town.

I hope Tehachapi fights for their town, too. It has some cool point of interest and some cool history.

  41. Tia wanted to do a pitbull and parolee program in LA City. The City did not want to do the program because of liability issues. After Tia was denied her parolees and others threatened people in the City with violence. That just solidified the City's decision. They were very happy they did not approve the program.

Tia has 200 dogs. She is asking for a permit for 100 dogs. That's because that is the kennel limit. After she gets that permit she will get another permit in another name for another 100 dogs. There will be 200 dogs at the new site if she has her way.

The police and animal control were called many times to her existing place because of violations, drugs and other problems. Who would want that next door to them? Their property values will decrease.

  42. @anon 6:02 -

There have been 4 people horribly killed by pit bulls so far this year. We're on track to have 25 or so deaths by pit bull, and many hundreds of maimings. That doesn't even count the terrible killing or maiming of beloved pets - guide dogs, horses, kittens, and other animals, by pit bulls, which will probably run into the thousands this year.

So you're saying that because bad guys use guns, we shouldn't worry about the pit bull attacks...

Are you out of your mind? Do you think the fact that thugs do bad things with guns has any bearing on the death of 5 year old Makayla Woodard? She was ripped apart by a neighbor's loose pit bulls, and her grandmother was badly mauled trying to save her.

That one little girl was worth more than all the shit bulls that have ever lived, and no pit bull owners rights to own dangerous mutants was equal to her right to live.

Are these nutters from a different planet? WTF?

  52. The real outrage is that taxpayer dollars were being used to help fund this alleged "parolee rehab" program. Picking up dog shit is NOT a form of rehab. If you want to help parolees, you need treatment programs and job training...the guys need to learn a skill or trade, so they can get a job with benefits that will pay a living wage. Learning to clean kennels and play with pit bulls is NOT helping these guys....they eventually need to go out into the real world and get a real job.

And Tia Torres is a DYS case workers worst nightmare....those poor girls.

  55. I honestly think you all are being selfish. If all those dog Tia has are being taken away from their owner because there are dangerous, they wouldnt had end up in Tias hand if the judge would know that they werent going to be rehabilitated. Second who is going to take care of all those dogs? if I dont bad remember Tia has a voluntary list, which means people voluntarily goes and walks the dogs, and feed them, and keeps them happy for a couple of hrs or more. (happy dog means no barking). Third, in case of a fire I think we all sae what happened when that fire last year, most of the dog where in kennels or accounted for with people to take care of them. Fourth, I think is very inmature for you to be posting Tia's daughter facebook coment like that; at the end she is young, and she has the right to say whatever she wants, however she wants it, and still that doesn't prove that she is not fit to take care of the dogs. I believe you can't judge an egg for its shell right?. Fifth, If it upsets you so much that Tia may "traspass" other properties simply just grab a map, show her where her property ends, where the other owners begin and simply set boundaries. Sixth, the twins speeding limit same thing, explain the importance of a speeding limit and if the show producers promised to pay for the dust situation, then why I didn't read any reasons why you don't believe that. maybe there are not any reasons, maybe this is one more excuse saying no to Tia's plan. Seventh, this dogs need a home and thats the most important thing among everything, how is possible thats just because some people don't want to share the land, because I didnt read either why is this not true? (where else can the dogs go?, where else can the rescue go?)the dogs have to be most likely killed if they can placed them. You know and the worst part is that probably you people think of yourselfs as God people, well guess what dogs are Gods creatures as well, but off course you are so selfish to think they are not your problem right?. Just remember when we die, we dont take land and possesions to heaven just then good deeds we did.
And it is ok if you don't want to post my comment, this is not a fair world anyways.

How many guns slip their holsters and attack joggers or pets without warning?

How many guns fire at a person for 20 minutes or more causing a prolonged, horrific attack accompanied by life changing damage or death?

How many gun owners are teenage goofs who obviously don't have control their gun as they walk down your street?

I have watched countless cases of parents killing their helpless children, killing there significant others, or even just other people and animals at random. Number two the article is judging people for what they look like and for their reputations, you are treating them just like this country treats pit bulls... they don't do their research and don't have a mind of their own. Yeah ok so there might be some issues with things but that comes with everything! Any person who moves in next to you could cause problems that's just the risk of it. That could happen WITH ANYONE! Just like any breed could come up and bit you in the ass. Im just saying everyone needs to simmer the hell down and think about this rationally. If we all start banning Maria and the good work she has done because shes trying to help people that you wont, then whats the point? Are you that selfish that you will let that many animals die and not be saved and it has been proven that even the worst fighting dogs can be saves. One of Micheal Vick's worst and meanest fighting dogs was rehabilitated and is now living in a family with a 6 month old baby. As for the parolees.. are you going to hire them? It's harder then anything to get a job when you have a record. She gives them a chance and yeah not all of them can be saved, but dammit a lot of guys who have come through there have made something more of themselves because she gave them a chance to proove they were better then bar and jumpsuits. Stop with the boring characterizations of each other. Stop with the name calling. Stop with the judgment. I am sick and tired of it all...when it comes to the individuals in this case AND when it comes to these dogs. Tia does good and important work for man and beast. If the community has concerns and Villalobos has solutions and/or guarantees, sit down and speak to each other like sane human beings. Nobody is asking anyone to be best friends. But this name-calling? Immediate stereotypical pigeonholing. ALL of you need to grow up. Tia's daughters' "motto" is actually the title of a song. So...yes...it is lyrical.
ENOUGH with the anti-pit bull sentiment. Drag yourself out of past history. Hysteria over these dogs is unwarranted, tired and played. Please concern yourself with labeling, lambasting and controlling the idiot human element who trains and abuses the APBT. The dog is loyal, strong and instinctively gentle. The human who takes advantage of that loyaly and strength is the issue. Backyard breeders who cause genetic instability are the issue. Not these "nanny" dogs...gentle and patient with children. We are a professional family...and we have one. Rachael Ray has two. Jessica Alba. Helen Keller. Quite a few high profile people over time. All APBT owners.
If you've been attacked as a result of a human being's failure to train their dog responsibly, I am sorry for you. But stop with the cliches and boring "points" you think you're making. They are not accurate.

ACT LIKE GROWNUPS AND GET THIS SETTLED. STOP with the name-calling and judgment.

Is it that you don't want her and her dogs there because you don't want there to be a better person in the county than you??? Or is it that you are just scared? Tia is helping the dogs, and the parolees! These people that are helping her are trying to better themselves, and make the changes in their lives that they need to, to stay out of prison, and to be better people! You are trying to keep her from doing this, and keep them from being better people, because you are too ignorant to know that they are good people, and they can change!! Get with it people, she's not moving there to take over, she's moving there to make it better for the dogs, herself, and YOU! She's also offered to have the roads fixed!! The DIRT roads that you claim will cause problems!! She has offered to have this roads fixed! Why is that a problem?? I am all for Tia and her family to move where they want to! Tia would never and does not support dog fighting. I'm disgusted that this person is so narrow minded and stereotypes the people of Villalobos.

This narrow mindedness is what's wrong with America, not people like Tia who are trying to make a difference in the lives of these dogs and parolees. Try doing something positive with your articles, not fueling such negativity. It's bound to come back and bite you

    ReplyDelete
  69. I can understand your concern for having parolees living in your community. I can also understand your concern for having rescued fighting dogs in your community. If said dogs have actually been fought. I would like to point out some things that you missed. Pitbulls will not fight without thier owner in the ring with them pushing them at the other dog over and over again. What they do is to protect their owner. This is what they believe they are doing. Not all pitbulls come from fighting backgrounds. Oh and please go take pictures of my pitbull in her family home off my facebook for your family rant. If you need me to I can even e-mail you some of these pictures. I am a pitbull rescuer. I don't do it on a large scale like Tia but I rescued a pitbull years ago and after having her for 12 years had to put her down because her cancer had spread and she was suffering. She was a loyal loving dog. Nothing made her happier than spending time with our family. Snuggling with me or my kids. I have many pictures of my kids laying on my dog using her as a pillow, and in my youngest daughter's case a step-stool. Not once did she act agressive towards them. Not once did she growl or snap. The only time she acted agressive was when she thought they were in danger. I am a proud pitbull nutter. I am in love with a breed that I have found to be the most smart, loving and loyal dogs I have ever seen. Pitbulls are more than just dogs used in fighting and if you're going to rant about the dog you should know more about the breed. They are companion dogs. They were bred to be companion dogs. My dog used to climb in my lap when she heard thunder, or when one of the kids was getting in trouble from my husband. She played with her best dog friend (my chihuahua) all the time. Were you aware that the dog on Little Rascals was a pitbull? Or the dog on Greater by the Dozen. Pit Bulls are not bad dogs.

  74. @anon 7:32

I honestly think that trying to force people who chose to live in a remote location for the quiet and solitude to be forced to look at, hear, smell, feel (the dust) of hundreds of animals and live in proximity to parolees that are vetted only by Torres is selfish.
It is selfish to realize that for every dog that spends years in a cage, literally several dozens of friendly, normal dogs will die for want of funds.
Tia's younger daughter is 19 and is on the deed to this property. She chose to make those photos and comments public. That was her decision. It is important for the Tia's neighbors to see the level of maturity, attitude and judgment of the legal property owner they will be dealing with.
It is particularly annoying to hear young people say, "she has the right to do or say what she wants." That is almost true, but not quite. And having a right doesn't mean "free from consequences or judgment."
The trespassing issues and speeding issues were brought up to demonstrate that Tia is a "rebel without a clue." She publicly announces she's going to trespass on her neighbor's property and doesn't think the neighbor might have something to say about that. And she thinks that her "adoptive" children breaking the law on a regular basis just makes the twins part of the family - because it is SOP for the Torres family to flaunt the law. Her neighbors deserve to know that they will be dealing with someone who has consistently demonstrated exceedingly poor judgment..

    ReplyDelete
  75. WOW ARE YOU KIDDING?!. Who wrote this? Seriously, it seems as if you would rather go after the fact that Tia, her daughters and their friends... ARE REGULAR PEOPLE!!! That they don't put no a blue-collared shirt every day, go spend 9 hours in an office and come home at night to think about how miserable their lives really are.
So they're different? They're feisty, smart as hell, understanding people.
Yes, obviously the parolees have done some dumb shit in their lives, every single one of them has admitted that at one point or another. Yes, like every human being on this earth, we have all made mistakes including yourself.
I don't know if its true or not the twins getting caught with crack and heroin as you said, I don't believe it is, as I don't believe most of the things you are claiming you know in this article. I think you are afraid, and want to do anything to stop Tia and her family from letting her open her rescue and save these wonderful dogs, or come to Tehachapi at all. You don't know anything about their situation, for all you know, it wasn't even their drugs. And to over come addiction is HARD. The way I see those boys working, it is impossible that they are doing things like that, and if they are, I do not see them running around town handing out little baggies of dope to you and your neighbors.
And the picture of Moriah and Tania? That looks very old... go look at the picture of them from the last season of Tia's show, and then try to re-post.
They were simply showing off their nails :o)
You do not see anything wrong with stalking their facebooks and finding the worst post possible, then showing the world? Really?
I work and manage a business where we work with kids. I have four dogs. I donate my time to charity and host kids events. And I drink and party, and have had my middle finger up in plenty of picture. As do many other people.
These people are responsible. The pictures of their friends? The guy on the couch, and the guy being suspended? If they were in blue jeans with a buzz cut (as many of their friends do look like, you just happen to find the ones who you believe will effect people's brains as negatively as possible, you wouldn't be bashing on them.
This post is just ridiculous. People are different, and if there wasn't people like us in this world, people who don't speak their minds, don't live under anyone's standards, stand up for those we know can change no matter their past... this world would be a very dark place.

I'm sure you didn't have access to that since there is no mention of you ever really watching the show. Did you investigate how many dogs she's actually had put down for their physical problems or for those with personalities that just cannot be "fixed"? Did you look at any of the good she has done or the inspiration she has given people to save ANY dangerous breed? It's just like a weapon. Put in the wrong hands it can kill. Put in the right hands it's a tool. Everyone is their own weapon when it comes to words and how there used.

  81. I see some stuff from the good ol' Maul Talk Manuel popping up in the last couple of pit nutter responses. Pit nutter isn’t a very PC term, but the fact that so many of you seem content to ignore the pit bull's potential to cause grievous bodily harm leads me to put you in that category. I don't think every single pit bull out there is dangerous, but irresponsible people like you don't help the breed.

"I've never been attacked by a pit bull, but I have been bitten by [X breed here]...” - So... because you've never been personally attacked before, that automatically means all pit bulls are harmless?

"Helen Keller, Rachel Ray, etc. have put bulls!" So? Ray's pit tore the ear off another dog as I recall. Yep, sounds like such a wonderful animal. And Keller had a Boston terrier I believe, NOT a pit. And so what if a celebrity owns a pit bull? That somehow negates every vicious attack ever launched by these dogs?

"Small dogs attack and kill all the time" - Rarely. Sorry, but cocker spaniels, dachshunds, and toy dogs do not attack with the same frequency and savagery as a pit bull does.

Sorry, but your logic and debating skills stink.

  83. This is so sad that people would try to stop such a good cause! And YES I would accept them with open arms into my community!! This woman is actually trying to rehabilitate all members of society both two legged and four. This is just like racism, ignorant people are being racist against both the animals and the parollees. Those parollees are going to be set free either way and then sent out into society with NO skills, how can you critisize a woman that is actually tring to help. Everyone deserves a second chance, even if they dont the justice system is giving it to them, so lets make the best of it. Its funny how the person who wrote what Tia said put parathasis with stupid immature comments next to her quotes, that just shows how unintelligent this arguement is getting and how much further we're getting from the issue. This woman is trying to do a service to society but because she doesnt fit into the cookie cutter world our uptight society craves, we diregard her and her efforts. Its also so sad how this article put pictures up of "wierd" looking people that arent doing anything to harm another but they are considered riff raff and deemed bad. Thats the most close minded thing I've ever heard! Times are changing we need to address the issues out there in society and work together. Villalobos is trying to start that trend but beacause its unfamilar we reject it, and thats wrong. I understand the concern I would be too if I was that ignorent and close minded but open your mind to theses wonderfull people and dogs. I am a proud owner of a white pit bull named Nina and she is my doll baby, like human beings not all pit bulls, cats birds horses ANYTHING are all bad. Those that are bad or aggresive were trained that way or not trained to behave. People also focus so much on the pit bull stigma but we've all forgotten about the other black listed breeds such as; German sheapards, Rotties, Dobermans, Chow's (home owners insurance wont insure you if you own one). We hear nothing about any breed but pit bulls, yes I understand it could be that they are more popular now but they are NOT the only ones. Please open your mind and heart to these people and animals they are only trying to help an otherwise ignored situation.

  84. I must honestly say that I'm so appalled at people when they do things ike this. Has anyone even watched her show or even taken ime to talk to her and find out what it is she feels for these dogs? I honestly don't think so. TIa relies on peoples donations to make it through each and every year. The show she has is absolutly wonderful and even makes me cry. She helps me gto better understand Pitt BUlls even better. All dogs were created for a reason and they all just want to be loved. I hate that people who are afraid of change and animals would not even take time to learn about another species of animals. I know that TIa has had a hard life and everyone makes mistakes but she is trying her best to give people who normally dont' get a second chance that opportunity. People who are on parolee get back into truoble because of not having anything to do with their lives... a idle mind is the devils playground. Everyone should be helping her to get everything she needs to funtion and better take care of all the animals and pets she has in her care. I'm so amazed at how people really treat animals in need. They are animals and they need to be taken care of and we need to give some of these Parolees credit like Armando. He has completely changed his life around. People just don't want to see the good in what she is doing but only the bad. I honestly think people should have a kind enough heart to just give her a chance to show people what is truely in her heart and soul.

  85. Who ever posted this "blog" must have nothing else better to do with their life. you say Tia is being a bully, no you have it wrong!! The person who wrote this blog is being a bully and so is the person who started all this crap!!! Who cared what her daughters post on their PERSONAL facebook pages.

In the paragraph about voicing concerns, you mention "create an eye-sore like the one in Agua Dulce" The property in Agua Dulce is not an eye-sore, its actually very nice and you can't see it from any city maintained road.

Dog fighting might have been a problem in the area in the PAST but that's because the people WANTED the dogs to fight. Tia does not operate a dog fighting ring, she operates a RESCUE!!! If there happens to be a dog fight in a kennel (because lets face it ALL DOGS FIGHT AT ONE POINT OR ANOTHER because they are dogs) Tia is the first one running to BREAK IT UP! All dogs fight for one reason or another, poodles fight, pomeranians fight, any dogs have the ability to fight and will fight each other because of one reason or another.

I myself own a pit bull so does that make me a "bad person"? My dogs fight because they PLAY to hard with each other but i DON'T MAKE them fight, it's natural for dogs.

I can't believe that human's act like this and believe stupid believes like this!! Educate yourself before you stick your foot in your mouth!!!

After reading this, the only thoughts in my mind were "man, what hateful and ignorant individual wrote this?!" I must admit though, as soon as I read the words "pit nutters", I lost all respect for the author.

  88. okay so this is BS. If tia hasdnt helped these animals they would DIE OR HURT PEOPLE. She relibilitates them, and then places them in good homes. Ignorant cowards who wrote this article know nothing about pitbulls but myths, and then make Tia look like the bad guy.

  89. what a lot of yappy little dogs you all are. some gorgeous big pitbull should come along and chomp you good.

  90. Instead of judging the woman behind the dog rescue, why don't we just look at the dog rescue for what it is? A RESCUE. It is an organization that was developed to rescue dogs and give them a better home. Regardless of the individual behind it, don't we need more places like this in the world?! An organization that is giving jobs to those in need of work experience and would not be able to get it else where. An organization that provides shelter, water and food for dogs that would not be able to get those things elsewhere. And an organization that is just trying to continue to do those two things without having to spend it's limited resources on attorney's fees and fighting someone in court. If you think Tia is getting rich off this plan, you should look into how much it costs to make one kennel for one dog and feed/water that dog for one year. That is ONLY ONE year... Tell me how much money you really think she can be making off this endeavor.

For once, why can't we step back as a community and recognize that this organization needs to be somewhere in the world, why not embrace the idea and be PROUD to give this organization a home? It will only bring more people through the town of Tehachapi and boost the local economy.

Finally, everyone who thinks that pit bulls are dangerous and horrible dogs... please do some research. Like my husband always says, 'Historically, the pit bull has never been bred to bite HUMANS. EVER. PERIOD' They were not bred for guarding or protecting, they were bred to be LOYAL and OBEDIENT dogs to their owners. Are those not two characteristics that are most wanted for a dog?

This organization is NOT going to ruin the community... why not learn from each other to make a richer community for those that live there?

Hopefully this will all be solved and everyone will come to a mutual understanding that everyone can live peaceably in the town together.

    ReplyDelete
  91. i cant believe anyone so ignorant is even alive. Tia helps the community! You idiots who hate on her should go to her rescue and volenteer so you can really bond with these "ferocious animals"

  92. This is a free country where anyone can move wherever they want. Tia is doing her part to get the proper permits, etc. Who do you think you are??? To spread lies of hate against people and the dogs. Who are you to judge anyone?? You can write all the nonsense you want, Tia has more supporters than you ever will.

  93. Has any one ever heard the saying...."if you don't have anything nice to say then dont't say anything at all". Some one, anyone and evryone will always find a fault in anything you do. We are accountable only to ourselves and our maker Himself. Tia has been doning this a VERY lond time and she isn't one, if not the biggest, pit bull rescues in the nation by just mere luck. It takes a very strong and intellegant person to be able to rehabilitate a dog that has been damaged, pit bull to a yorkie, accidents happen. Things happen all the time but every one deserves a fighting chance. If Tia is going to sacrafice her personal life and subject herself to what how people will see her....then let her be! She is doing something that the majority of us don't have the balls to do. But I guess this is what we as the human race has come to...fighting with words...throwing stones from a distance because you are too much of a coward to do it face to face...we need to get back to the basics...see the good in people even if they are covered in dirt...we are so quick to judge people today that it is sad....what type of examples are we being for the generations to come. I that the one thing everyone wants is to call somewhere home...as for dogs, "mans best friend", they want to be loved! Man up people....be a good human and back for of the people who are trying to climb up a slippery slope!!

  94. Actually, the point this blogger makes is that this is a local issue, for the local residents to decide....when a reality show TV star comes in and starts bullying local residents with threats of a nation-wide campaign against members of the HO association who oppose her use of the land, then you can expect push back.

From what I have read, this is an ecologically fragile area, and the residents here seem to leave a very light carbon footprint. I have NO idea why anyone would want to open a large scale agricultural/commercial venture here....it more or less looks like poor planning on Tia's part, and lack of good counsel from her realtor friend and legal advisors.

  96. Having worked 2 years in a popular dog grooming business as a bather..I have dealt with many breeds of dogs and to tell you the truth..I've NEVER been bit or even nipped at by a pitbull that I've groomed. That's saying alot considering I've groomed full time for 2 years and the most bites/nips I've recieved are from small breed dogs. It all falls back on the dog's owner and the training, rules, and excercise that they give their dogs. Pitbulls are way more stable and tolerant than that of the many snippy small dogs that I've had come in to be groomed. (The small dogs that I've had bite or nip at me were all to pampered and spoiled thus they don't respect humans and will bite/nip them as they please) Larger breed dogs are more often than not safer around anyone especially babies and young kids due to the fact that their owners typically apply more training, boundaries, and excercise than that of the small breed owners who simply think spoiling their dog is the answer. Example:
"If an 80-pound German Shepherd jumps up on a human, everyone agrees that this behavior needs to be corrected. Everyone sees this as a problem and the owners would seek help from a trainer, and/or read up on it on the Internet to remedy the behavior. At the very least, the dog would be locked in a separate room when guests arrived to protect the guests from getting hurt.

Now picture a little 8-pound Miniature Pinscher jumping up on a human. You look down and I’ll be darned, it's kind of cute. It does not hurt and people think "The dog likes me! But what does it really mean? If dogs were human this would be true ... but they are not. Jumping has a totally different meaning to a dog than it does a human. It's a dominancy and respect issue. For a dog, space is a sign of respect and when you allow your little dog to jump on a human you are allowing them to disrespect a human. You are allowing them to display pack leader behaviors."

  97. First off, I do not agree with the slandering and defamation going on with either side...that being said, let me tell you about myself. I'm a very high public official in my state. I'm highly educated, having a masters degree in several areas and bachelors degrees in two areas. I own 3 pitbulls and have raised them along with my four children. NEVER have I even flinched when one of my four-legged children came running up on my two-legged children! I trust them, as I know that they have been raised with love and respect from me to them; them to me.
I believe what Tia does in not only rehabbing the dogs but, also the parolees is wonderful! I have seen many parolees walk out those doors with no where to go and no prospects for life and land right back where they were. When given the chances that Tia gives these boys, there are other options than the streets for them and they will then possibly (yes, some still can't be helped)become productive members of society.
EVERY PERSON has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I'm sure if these people sit down on March 10th and hash out their differences and come up with a game plan that will benefit them all that it would work out. There just can't be all this negativity. Give it a chance! Have boundaries, and enforce them. There could be some sort of contract in place whereas any "funny business" goes on, she could be called on it...
Lastly, I say kudos to you Tia Torres and family! Thank you for the opportunities that you have given to so many dogs and families. Families, you ask? Yes; the families that get a loving pet, the families that get their loved one back after who knows how long. Some parolees become lost by their family members and have now proven themselves "worthy" to their families with the work they have done there.
Yes. I had one of my assistants bring up the season on this computer and watched the show before writing this. I feel it is a good thing she's got going on there.
Thank you for letting me voice my opinion, and others' opinions as well. It's nice that you do not leave this subject one-sided.

  98. I would be happy to have Vilallobos or a similar rescue in or near my town. My husband and I have actually discussed how (if dreams came true) we would like to devote our lives to animals and open a rescue ourselves). Residents having concerns about the rescue moving in seems logical to me, they want to know what impact this will have on their lives but the way this is all being blown out of proportion is insane. All of the sudden Tia is being accused of dog fighting and Animal Planet knows about it...really? I wish the Torres family luck and send love and support from my family to theirs.

  103. personally, i think its almost hilarious this conversation about little dogs. chihuahuas are one of the meanest breeds i have ever come across on this earth but you don't hear about them doing serious damage to anything because they physically can't along with dachshunds and many other small toy breeds. believe it or not, golden retrievers and dalmations are actually fairly prone to biting and attacking other animals and people at least more so then any other kind of "family breed" but i'm sure if tia had a rescue for dalmations she would be welcomed with open arms.

    http://www.dogwhisper.com/12-09-2003_dogbite.pdf

she says herself that she cannot rehabilitate all dogs and the ones she cannot save are humanely euthanized. the point of tia's organization is to rescue, train/rehabilitate and find new homes for dogs. period. if you are really so against that, i feel sorry for you. i don't understand why anyone would be so against someone else trying to do something good in the world. i have two pit bulls myself and they are the smartest gentlest dogs i have ever owned in my life. they love my 6 month old son and myself and everyone who walks in my door. if i were robbed, these two might lick the robbers to death but otherwise, they are perfectly harmless. i also think its kinda funny just how many people here used "anonymous". if you feel so strongly about something, let yourself be known!

  104. it would be nice someone actually addressed the content of the blog wouldn't? it's adrien and the ATTS all over again.

    a couple of things:

i have seen one episode. not impressed.

swastikas: the symbol for the ethnic cleansing dog.

no one is simply judging this freak show based on their looks. have you actually read this shit? or are you just drooling drooling over the slutty looking females? "fuck punch fight", "i'm a rebel", "fuck me a third time and watch what happens". you tia sycophants are in denial. or you are cut from the same cloth and trying to manipulate people with all of that politically correct bullshit.

tia does have more supporters than the entire population of tehachapi. china's population is greater than the US. what the fuck does that have to do with anything? stevil has no right to force his opinion on the people of tehachapi.

i can tell you without a doubt that if the people of the old west ranch and tehachapi welcomed this tia and her show with open arms, or if tia was moving into an industrial area with resistance, this blog would not exist. what the fuck would care for. i only got involved in this when ONCE AGAIN pit nutters tried to make the victim into the villain.

and by the way, there are quite a few pit bull owners who think tia is nothing more than a HOARDER and that she reinforces the negative stereotype of pit bull owners.

    ReplyDelete
  105. ^ Perfect example of someone that should own pit bulls. The reason why SOME pit bulls attack is because of their owner. Take whatever stereotypical image of a pit bull owner and put it next to the typical owner of say, a chow chow. Oh oops, Chow Chows are one of the most vicious dogs (but we dont have blogs whining about them)....how about a golden retriever. Both "typical" owners are VERY DIFFERENT. It is not the dog's fault who raises them. You people need a heart, and some logic sense.

I look up to Tia and her kids they are the best thing to happen in this world they are helping the dog everyone else turns away. EVERY dog should be given a second chance, and the guys that work for her are great they just needed help with now they are on a better path. I know tons of ex cons not all of them are bad they can turn their lives around and they have. so if you want to say something bad look in the mirror what have you done to help out any breed of dog, most likly nothen right!! 109. Oh, the dog groomers have come out. Yeah, you know NONE of the pit bull in my neighborhood go to a groomer. How many people are so inept they can't groom a pit bull themselves?

And we know all about how well pit bulls do at the groomers and at the vet. You can stitch close their wounds with no anesthesia. Hell, you can shoot them, and they'll still keep coming.

So what is your point and what does it have to do with this blog post?

    ReplyDelete
  110. This is becoming crazy. Tia is helping a misunderstood breed and people. If the worst her Daughters are doing is flipping the bird at 19, well that's probably better then what ur kids are out there doing. Tia's kids gave up their teenage years to save life's of many. People open your eyes to the greater good here. Do not judge what you do not understand.

  111. Wow, it looks like someone stirred up a hornet's nest - the militant pit bull lobbyists have obviously been directed to try to overwhelm this blog with threats, accusations and outrage, not to mention misinformation, faulty logic and non-sequiturs.

Note well, this is the same sort of bullying tactic we can expect to see at the Tehachapi meeting.

Why do these nut cases act like mutant fighting dogs are the only dogs that matter, and all other dogs are worthless? I'm far more concerned with saving the poor lab guide dog who was savaged by a pit bull, than for the pit bull that mauled him.

And why, if they are so concerned about pit bulls, do they insist on over-breeding them, so that many thousands a year have to be killed?
Spaying or neutering all pit bulls would be the most humane thing to do, for everyone. C'mon guys, this is not rocket science!

If these folks would put even a fraction of the energy that they spend on these dangerous creatures and use it to help dogs in trouble, the world would be better off.

Obviously, they have never watched the show, or owned or known a pitbull who had a responsible owner. I own a pitbull and she is the sweetest dog, sweeter than my chihuahua. You say that she and her supporters are bullies, well, so is the person who wrote this article and the people who are trying to oust Tia and this RESCUE organization. I don't condone the bullying of anyone, but you are trying to vilify a dedicated woman who has dedicated her life to saving homeless and SERIOUSLY MISUNDERSTOOD pitbulls, who would not get a chance anywhere else because of the prejudice that people (like those who are trying to oust Tia and whoever wrote the article), carry for the breed and paroles who just need a second chance. All she is trying to do is HELP ANIMALS and fellow HUMAN BEINGS who are trying to get a second chance at a good life!! To Anonymous... Post your name! Are you too scared that a "pit nutter" like me will come after you? Let me give you a little info on me....

I'm a proud pit nutter! I love my pit bull son! So does my 19 month old daughter and all of the neighborhood children. I DON'T HAVE A SINGLE TATTOO! I'm a stay at home mother living in an upper class country club neighborhood with my full bred Pit! My husband makes a fine living in the hundreds of thousands annually. We live directly behind the club's tennis courts. (Ike love's all the free tennis balls.) We have a picket fence around a portion of our back-yard which he could easily escape from but doesn't even try. The only issue is with the neighbor's dog, who continuously knocks down our adjoining fence boards. Their dog escapes and ours stays. Ike is an inside dog! Only outside while supervised. ANY RESPONSIBLE OWNER SHOULD BE SO DILLIGENT! NOT JUST PB OWNERS! My dog is NOT dog-aggressive or aggressive in any way. I know every characteristic, trait and capability of my dog because I am a responsible owner, as are many others. If you would stop pointing fingers and stereotyping then you would realize this! I bet you are the kinds of people who allow your animals to trespass and poop all over people's property because you think since it's not a pit bull it isn't a threat. Out of respect for myself, my dog and others... I maintain full responsibility and control of my animal. I only wish others were so diligent. You anti-pit "nuts" could learn a thing or two in responsibility from Pit Bull owners. (I'm not talking about sadists who choose to fight them.)

I'm amazed by the assumptions and finger pointing you foul mouthed persons' have! You are sitting there stereotyping pit bull owners and supporters, and calling us all "nutters".... Pointing out criminal records, style preferences, and language use. Hmmmm, perhaps you need to clean up your own potty mouths. Someone needs to remind you that when you point the finger there are 4 pointing back at you. You can curse me and call me "stupid" all day long for fully supporting the breed and those who advocate for them; but at the end of the day I know I have way more class and intelligence than the bottom-feeding scum posting blatant attacks on all of us owners and this breed!

  117. ♦ Though it is true that the 'pit bull' was originally bred to fight, they were only bred to fight other dogs. The dogs lived at home as a family pet in the late 1800s and lived in the house with the wives and children of the men who fought their dogs for sport, so they needed to be absolutely reliable around people. Dogs that showed human aggression were culled - that means they were euthanized and never bred from. These actions have evolved a unique dog personality where animal aggression has absolutely no correlation to human aggression.

♦ These dogs, like all other dog breeds, are not born inherently mean or bad! They can, like any other breed, become mean through lack of training, abuse, neglect and irresponsible ownership and breeding.

♦ Pit bulls do NOT have locking jaws; the pit bull’s jaw is identical to any other dog of a similar size and strength. On this topic Dr. Lehr Brisbin of the University of Georgia wrote:
"The few studies which have been conducted of the structure of the skulls, mandibles and teeth of pit bulls show that, in proportion to their size, their jaw structure and thus its inferred functional morphology is no different than that of any breed of dog. There is absolutely no evidence for the existence of any kind of "locking mechanism" unique to the structure of the jaw and/or teeth of the American Pit Bull Terrier."

♦ Did you know that pit bulls consistently rate higher in the American Temperament Society’s tests every year than many common “family” dogs? The three breeds that make up pit bulls rate around 83% passing whereas the Golden Retriever is around 82%, the Greyhound is around 81%, the Border Collie is around 79%. You can view the list at www.atts.org.

♦ The United States Custom Service recruits pit bulls from Shelters to train in detection. One Pit Bull, Popsicle (named that because he was found in an old freezer) has the largest recorded single drug find in Texas history. Including how he found over 3,000 lbs of cocaine in Hildago, Texas. Popsicle currently has the highest money bust to date.

♦ One of the top-rated Search & Rescue teams in the U.S. is Kristine Crawford’s American Pit Bull Terrier, Dakota. Kris has two other SAR pit bulls! They were hand-picked by NASA to aid in the recovery of the astronauts from the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster. They were also involved in the Laci Peterson search and just recently saved a woman’s life. You can learn more about Kris and her team at www.forpitssake.org.

♦ Early in the 20th century, pit bulls were actually the number 1 family dog. The Pit Bull was so popular they were the USA mascot not only in World War One, but World War Two as well. They were featured on recruiting and propaganda posters during this time period. In addition, Sgt. Stubby was a Pit Bull war hero. Stubby was wounded in action twice, he saved his entire platoon by warning them of a poison gas attack and he single handedly captured a German spy.

♦ Ray Romano, Don Cherry, Fred Astaire, President Roosevelt, Jack Dempsy, Thomas Edison, Madonna, Michael J Fox, Brad Pitt, Bernadette Peters, Sinbad, Alicia Silverstone, Linda Blair, Humphrey Bogart, Usher, Mel Brooks, Ann Bancroft, John Stuart, Jan Michael Vincent, Pink, Kelli Williams, Ken Howard, Malcolm Jamal Warner, Stephan Jenkins, Rosie Perez, Ananda Lewis, Amy Jo Johnson, Mary Tyler Moore, Steve and Terrie Erwin (the Crocodile Hunter), Jack Johnson, Bill Berloni (Broadway show dog trainer who has said that the Pit is the breed of choice for training), Anthony Robbins, Molly Price, President Woodrow Wilson, Frankie Muniz, AJ Mclean, Barbara Eden, and even Helen Keller…
what do these people have in common? They are ALL the proud owners of pit bulls!

♦ There are many pit bulls who are productive members of society who are trained to be service dogs, therapy assistants, educational dogs, narcotics detection, actors, search and rescue and more. Many have become public heroes saving people’s lives.

  118. Now I'm getting really upset with all of you I mean who bashes someone like that you must be a very sad mean person . It is so sad that there are still people out there that act like that we are not in High school we are all growing people and we should all by now have learned that we all have to work together and respect each other even if we don't like the . Opinions are good but this is not an opinion this is bashing someone that did nothing to you besides giving her best to make the world a better place . Yes you all don't like Pit Bulls because of what you hear in the news but ever thought about this that the news only talks about what they feel like reporting they never tell you why it happened or talk about other dogs because nobody would care since it's not a Pit .
My Kids one 9 Years and the other 10 month Play all the time with my friends Pit Bulls . That should tell you all Pit Bulls are not bad Dog it is the owner that makes them Bad I could make my Golden retriever or my Boxer or even the Dachshund mean . It is not the Dog breed it is the owner and that's being a known fact. I trust a Pit more then my own Dachshund .

  119. I am a VERY educated woman with a VERY good job and I LOVE my pit bulls. Anyone stereotyping those that own "those types" of dogs are only ignorant and need a reality check. Besides the fact that I would love to show these people some street justice, I am a productive citizen of this country (as are most of us "nutters") and my dogs are the most well behaved I've ever come across. We pit lovers are trying to make a difference in this world, why don't you try to do the same?

As dangerous as pit bulls are, the owners are often more so. These are some scary folks, militant, organized, and they know how to intimidate.

But keep in mind, this is an illusion - by concentrating their venom on this blog, these organized pit bull apologists are attempting to create the illusion that they are the majority, but they are not - far from it, they are merely an extremely vocal minority which is focused like a laser on this forum.

A dangerous crowd to be sure, but a small minority of the general public.

  121. I was an upper middle-class pit bull owner just like you. My husband is a doctor and I am a stay-at-home soccer mom and we live in a lovely suburban neighbourhood. We got our dog as a puppy from a reputable breeder and put her through puppy classes and basic obedience. She was spayed and properly vaccinated, stayed indoors and was very loved. I used to defend the breed to everyone I met, just like you. I used to think I knew my dog inside and out, and I was sure she would never, ever hurt my child.

Then my dog turned 3 and, literally overnight, her dog-aggression came out. She tried to attack the neighbour's poodle through the backyard fence (she had been in a fenced yard beside this same dog literally thousands of times with no show of aggression). When my 8 year old daughter tried to pull her away from the fence, our pit bull locked onto her forearm (she only got her forearm because my daughter threw it up to protect her face, she was going for the face) and it took 8 minutes for my husband to beat her off, he eventually wound up using the weed whacker, after a baseball bat broke over the dog's back without even being noticed by her. My daughter lost partial use of her right arm and she is still relearning all of the basic skills with her left. Her life will never be the same.

We have been accused of being at fault for not "being there to call off the dog". Well, we were there, we were sitting on patio chairs watching my daughter throw a ball for our pet, who she had spent three years playing with and which had never shown so much as a lip lift to anyone or anything up to that point. We couldn't, physically, call off the dog. We couldn't physically BEAT off the dog for over 5 minutes. After the dog was off my daughter, my husband was on the ground struggling with it to keep it from going at her again as I pulled her into the house. There was so mcuh blood that I kept sliding on it and falling down. There are still blood stains on the patio almost 2 years later. All the dog wanted was to get back on my daughter and finish the job. The dog didn't make any noise while she was attacking and her tail was wagging faster and harder than it had ever wagged before. I believed then, and I believe now, that that dog was the happiest it had ever been when it was locked onto my daughter and trying to kill her.

Let me tell you, you have no idea - none - how completely different pit bulls are from normal pet dogs. When that dog was triggered she went from being a goofy pet and companion to being a cold-blooded predator in a millisecond. You cannot imagine what it is like knowing that your dog is trying to kill your child and knowing that it might just succeed because it is stronger than you are. There is nothing like it in the world.

There was no news coverage of my dog's attack on my daughter. None. So much for the overhyped media aspect, hush?

You are insane to own a fighting dog when you have children. Absolutely insane. I wish we had been protected from our own stupidity by legislation. What is worse is that you are also, by your own admission of a picket fence the dog could easily escape over, putting other people's children at risk. Fighting dogs are not pets and we need laws in place to protect people from them.

It is not bashing if it is an inherent truth. Tia and her family decided to make her private world public on facebook and other sites. If someone hacked this information, that would be different, but they did not. She's an old woman, she should know the consequences of putting personal information on public sites without setting the site to private. Craven did nothing illegal or wrong.

Cassidy, have you ever thought that many people do not like pit bulls because we were in some way attacked or tormented by the breed and their owners? I have been severely bitten by a pit bull and another pit bull has killed a pet of mine. I would have nothing against the breed if people actually enforced laws that punished irresponsible pit bull owners and laws that keep people safe from these animals. I'm not talking about bans, but regulation.

Many of the people here have been pit bull victims. None of just woke up and decided to dislike pit bulls. We either heavily researched it or had numerous negative experiences with the breed alone for us to conclude they are not a safe pet for society at large.

And many people have played with their pit bulls and their children have loved them only for that same animal to turn around and maul the child's face off. Don't believe me? Just read through some of the cases on this blog.

It is not bashing if it is the truth. Tia and her family are grown people, they should know that anything that is on a public forum such as facebook is free game to criticize if you do not set that information to private. Craven did nothing wrong, she set her own self up for failure. The fact that Tia did not even acknowledge this just shows you how stupid she really is. And you're even more stupid for defending a stupid person's illogical actions.

Have you ever stop to think that many people who don't like pit bulls have had a negative experience with them? I've personally required over 10 stitches from a pit bull "bite" and I've had a pet of mine die due to a pit bull. We do not wake up one day deciding we hate pits, many of us have had negative experiences with them or have been highly educated o the matter. In my case it has been both.

As for children and pit bulls. There have been many pit bulls in families that were fine for years only to take the child's face off in a millisecond from a brutal mauling. The fact that no other breed matches the frequency in severity of attacks should be a red flag. DO NOT HAVE AROUND CHILDREN.

  129. Thanks, Anon 11:30. I live in a nice, middle class susburb, and the few people I know who have had the bad judgement to get a pit bull have ALL eventually had problems. One I know sent the dog back to the rescue when it started showing aggression. One, after being raised from puppyhood next door to a friendly old lab, at the age of two jumped the fence and tried to kill the dog he never had a problem with before. His owners where college educated professionals. Another I know, raised from puppyhood with three kids and another dog, socialized with people, children, and other dogs, walked frequently, etc....ended up killing the other family dog, then biting someone. The owner was a family whose mom was an elementary school teacher.I could go on and on. None of the attacks in my town got any media coverage, either.

Shelters continue to promote these dogs to unsuspecting suburbanites, and the results are often tragic. Pit bull advocates like Torres continue to promote the breed as appropriate family pets. I don't think anyone should support the continued breeding of these dogs.

It's amazing how there are little to no cases of severe maulings and fatalities by chows, but there are over 200 made by pit bulls with over 140 of them being over the past decade.

You do know that pit bulls kill over 20 people a year do you not? And seriously maim or terrorize others? Here's some links to educate yourself on the matter. Although I'm your sure your tiny tunneled brain will fail to really understand their content.

There have been over 24 victims with over half of them being severely mauled. How many chows have done this? Most of those resources are very thorough in finding even the most overlooked dog attacks. Just compare it to the lack of other breed attacks in these blogs.

    http://blog.dogsbite.org/

If there are cases of dachshunds, pomeranians, and beagles killing from 2011 or 2010 alone that match the severity and frequency of the pit bull, please do link them here. :) It shouldn't be a challenge since they're so frequent as you claim them to be.

I originally did not mind what it was Tia was doing. She, at first, gave me hope that maybe there would be one pit bull advocate out there who did realize there are pit bulls afflicted with genetic problems in terms of temperament and that the breed is not the right dog for everyone. But when you watch the show there are several red flags that are not as apparently unless you've done research on her past and current situations. The more you look at this, the more it appears she's a selfish person who's inconsiderate of how her operations would affect other people's quality of life.

I am for giving criminals a second chance, but there should be a limit as to who attains that chance and when. Many of these people seem to constantly be getting back into trouble after being given the chance (Tia's sanctuary) I'm sorry, but I would not want a group of criminals who still do illegal things on her ranch and a bunch of caged dogs near my house or children. I've already been the victim of a pit bull attack (severe) and I do not wish for such an occurrence again.

  151. First of all, where do some of you people get your information? Who told you that Tia supposedly "owns wolves and bears"? I'd really like to know. I suppose the "wolves" part could be rumor, just because in one episode, the dogs howled when she was paying tribute to a dog that had died in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. But where did the "bear" part come from?

Second, that was kind of harsh taking a shot at AJ. It never occurs to most people that someone on trial or in prison may be innocent or may have been framed or in the wrong place at the wrong time. I'm just saying.

Third, the pit bull "nutters" (as you call them) said that stuff about Merle Carnes before they knew anything about her, other than the fact that she doesn't want Villalobos in Tehachapi, after they read a letter written by her. They shouldn't have judged her before they knew about her. She sounds like a very nice woman who is extremely concerned about her community.

I think the hearing on the 10th should be done without angry accusations, and people should listen to both sides and try to understand each other.

  152. Fans, ask Tia to spend a few hundred thousand dollars of her BIG TV profits and go into the inner city she claimed she lived in, and directly spay and neuter as many pit bulls as possible.

If she did that, instantly there'd be fewer pit bulls suffering, fewer pit bull puppies getting abused, fewer pit bulls getting euthanized.

but is Tia doing REAL things to REALLY help pit bulls?

No, she's partying with sleazy pit bull breeders that are breeding all the dogs to sell to the thugs who abuse them, and trying to get more money from you for "stuff."

  153. Tiff Gon,

An intelligent person realizes what a stereotype actually is. A stereotype has a perjorative meaning but also one that simply means "a generalization based upon observation". Do you generalize in life? You surely do whether you realize it or not. In fact, any abstract thought would be impossible without it. So can we generalize about dog breeds? Yes, in fact breeds were developed specifically so that you could generalize about them. We created breeds to certain standards (in terms of behavior and form) so that you could predict what different dogs would be good at. An intelligent person also knows that counter-examples do not necessarily invalidate a generalization. I could generalize that labrador retrievers like water, which certainly is true in general. However, I would bet there are a few labs that do not like water. Are you starting to better understand now what it means to be intelligent?

Stubby was wounded in action twice, he saved his entire platoon by warning them of a poison gas attack and he single handedly captured a German spy.

what do these people have in common? They are ALL the proud owners of pit bulls!

Tia has owned wolves and bears in the past. In fact, if you go to her website you can see photos of her wolves with her pit bulls near a ungulates skull.

Doing some minor research on your part would be beneficial.

As for the rest of the facts. Read up on Craven desires with the tag of "Tia" or just google it "craven desires tia torres" and I'm sure you will find his other articles with links that support this.

(her income is obviously a lot higher now, thanks to the dupes)

"I believe Tia is A hack, she makes about a 150 K a year after taxes. So trust me she does not have it too bad. As far as AJ. he's a white supremacist, active member of the Aryan brotherhood. As far as the twins, they're both hooked on meth by IV. And it gets better, did you know they both go out with Tia's two daughter. Not to mention she collected insurance on the fire of her brothel. In brief, racism towards blacks and hispanics, a former madam who prey on women weakness, two twins of hawaiian descent who think they are white. Funny. And yes they did steal that bike, yes they're all on dope . If it smell like shit then its probably is. These are all proven facts, she has a lavish lifestyle for her daughters at the expense of all the tax free contributions of people who buy it. She's a slick grifter, who by the way met AJ thru the mail. It show how insecure she is, meeting an ex convict who is a killer. He killed a child molester in jail. Oh btw the twins get motorcycles, cars, toys, free rent, because they go out with her daughter "

Question... Do you personally know her followers? Or are you assuming? She has many supporters, such as myself, that aren't the hardened criminals and thugs that you speak of.

"And might I add that before you try commenting, try coherently writing the king's english please. It would be of great service in giving you a sliver of intelligence."

I apologize for not being outdated! The last edition was published in 1931. It is considered outdated since the English language has evolved. That was a nice attempt to discredit me, however I believe you failed.

You can post all the links you'd like. I am fully aware of all aspects of the breeds history and temperament. I've done my research and I have tangible evidence which trumps your fear tactics. That is all you "anti's" can do is post links to sites talking negatively about the breed. I could post just as many praising them.

It all boils down to the owners responsibility or lack there-of. It's a fact that some people aren't capable of owning this breed. There are many that aren't capable of owning ANY animal. Just because the person down the block has a miniature poodle that isn't capable of causing much harm doesn't mean their dog should be allowed to roam the streets. My dog isn't allowed to. Not because he is a PB or because he will cause any harm, but out of respect for others. I don't allow my animal to run a muck doing his business in other peoples yards. Tia doesn't allow her dogs to roam free either. The parolee's also learn responsibility and compassion, in which many of them did not learn from their parents obviously.

But again... you anti's have to use scare tactics versus truth to try to validate your opinions. That is why this blog was posted, wasn't it? Seems to me that it wanted to instill fear in the community by bringing up criminal records and pit bull propaganda. It's clear what the author was trying to do by posting the nastiest ugliest photos they could find. It's common sense that the masses stereotype pit bulls, their owners, people with tattoos, PB advocates, and anyone with a criminal history. So why not throw it all in a blog to try to make them all look bad. That's how you can tell that someone is intimidated. They have to resort to slander and fear tactics.

It's nice that you acknowledge that Merle Carnes sounds like a nice woman after you read what she did for her community. But, it is not really a very good excuse to say that nutters only "said that stuff" about her before they knew about her.

This post shows that Tia can say just a few words indicating this woman is horrible, and literally hundreds of nutters will jump in adding their own horrible thoughts about a woman they knew nothing about and believe she has ill intent.

I agree that the hearing on the 10th should be done without angry accusations, but I would add that only interested parties who live in the town and will be affected by the decision should attend.

Here is a link to the news article stating that Tia has 2 black bears, a grizzly bear, about 20 wolves and until recently, a bengal tiger on her property as of 2/1/10, a year ago. She no longer owns the exotics, I believe, but they are on her property.

If you do a search for Tia and bears, or wolves, you will also find more recent statements she's made about those animals on her property.

Stray Pit Bull Saves Woman, Child from Attacker

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — The wandering 65-pound Pit Bull mix might have seemed menacing to some passerby, but one woman will always remember him as her “guardian angel.”The dog, which authorities think is lost and not a stray, successfully thwarted a robbery attack on a mother and her 2-year-old son, who were held at knifepoint Monday afternoon.

The Florida woman, who has been identified by authorities simply as “Angela,” was leaving a playground with her toddler son in Port Charlotte when a man approached her in the parking lot with a knife and told her not to make any noise or sudden movements.

Angela didn’t have to do either to protect herself and her child — a dog mysteriously ran to the scene and charged the man, who quickly fled.

“I don’t think the dog physically attacked the man, but he went at him and was showing signs of aggression, just baring his teeth and growling and barking. It was clear he was trying to defend this woman,” Animal Control Lt. Brian Jones told Pet Pulse.

“I don’t know what this man’s intentions were, but it is very possible this dog saved her life.”

The exceptional part of the story, Jones said, is that the dog had never met or even seen the people it quickly jumped to defend. “You hear about family dogs protecting their owners, but this dog had nothing to do with this woman or her kid,” Jones said. “He was like her guardian angel.”

After the alleged thief ran away, Angela quickly placed her son, Jordan, in the car and tried to drive off. Before she could, though, the dog jumped into her backseat, waiting with her for the police and animal control officers to arrive at the scene.

The dog was transported to a local shelter and if his owners don’t step forward within five days, Jones said, Angela and her family plan to adopt the savior she named “Angel.” Animal control officers and shelter workers believe Angel is lost, and not a stray, because of his good health, sturdy weight and mild temperament.

“It’s funny, that someone’s irresponsibility could have saved someone’s life,” Jones said of Angel’s possible owners.

For Angela, it doesn’t matter where the dog came from, just that he was there when she needed him most. “I don’t know what his [the thief's] intentions were — I don’t know why he did it, but I’m glad that — we call him Angel — I’m glad that Angel showed up because I don’t know what would have happened,” Angela told NBC2 News.

For a small town with a population of 46,452, animal control officers were kept busy Monday afternoon. Jones says they department also responded to a report about a boa constrictor in a church parking lot. The snake found its way into a car engine and was able to be removed without being harmed. It took three people to move the massive, seemingly random placed snake.

“It’s funny, because we aren’t a big place,” he said of the Gulf Coast town. “And we can go for four or five months without the media contacting us about a story. It’s been a busy week.”

Officers from the responding county sheriff’s office canvased the area and were unable to locate the suspect described as being in his 20s, tall and dark haired.

She does offer spay/neuter services. The problem is that there are too many people who won't and don't bring their dogs in. Men especially "sympathize" with their dogs loosing their "man-hood"! I see it every day. You can hold all the clinics you want to, but in the end it's up to the owners to take them to get it done. I would also like to see you run a animal rescue of that capacity and still have time to do the kind of large-scale assistance. You must also have no comprehension of the costs of running an animal rescue or even of how much a single animals expenses can run. On average I spend a minimum of a couple hundred dollars on my pit per month on food alone. This year thus far I have spent close to a couple thousand dollars on ONE HEALTHY dog! Multiply that by 100 or 200 dogs. Many of which need EXTENSIVE medical treatment upon arrival at VRC. Obviously you people are insane to think that she's living this fantasy life. And to accuse any person of being on "stuff" while accomplishing so much is ignorance. I'd like to see you successfully run a rescue while "partying" and indulging in drugs. Drug users end up on the streets or in less than favorable circumstances. They don't own and operate massive successful non-profit businesses!

A golden retriever attack is not going to get the news time that a pit bull attack will, not because of the severity of the attack, but because people don't want to hear about "good" dogs hurting people. As I've said before, I for one do not believe every pit bull is bad. However, I've been a victim of a pit bull attack as well as my pet corgi. So the point is virtually mute.

What is even more mute is that just because your pit bull has not attacked you, it doesn't mean there are hundreds of other pit bulls out there mauling their family members and friends. Not only that, but they're beating the rate at which other breeds do this.

    http://pitbullvictims.blogspot.com/
    http://www.fatalpitbullattacks.com/

And there was a case in Tennessee where a woman's 9 year old pit bull mauled her. So age really isn't the case, it is generally when. Although many pits seem to have their first mauling before the age of four.

I always find it amazing that people who throw out these pit bull hero stories never show any links or provide any resources of these claims. While there are unsurprisingly many resources and images showing how many well loved pits decided to tear into the face of a child.

Also your posting of cuddly pit bulls has nothing to do with the subject matter within this post. As usual, you're a comment who either did not read the post, or does not have the resources to debate the information within it.

For every heroic pit story, there is a severe mauling somewhere in this country. So trying to drown out the negativity of the breed is pretty much void.

  185. Off topic, people. Here are some facts.

Tia has 200 dogs now, and claims to be bringing 100 to Tehachapi. Residents have information that there are other parcels she will be given access to, and she will quickly apply for another kennel license to hold another 100 dogs. She should be honest with residents about how many animals she will ultimately be bringing. Also, are the parcels adjacent? Will she have multiple kennel sites? If that is the case, she won't be there to supervise both....will she leave her 19 year old in charge of 100 pit bulls and ex-felons? Residents should be concerned about this.

Also...she has plans to expand this operation and build rental cabins. Can she provide details and architectural drawings? How many cabins? How will she supply water to these cabins? Does she have a septic design for this? Between potential adopters coming and going, parolees, vacationers, etc, what will be the impact on the roads/environment? Will opening rental cabins require building laundry facilities, food service facilities/restaurant, etc? What about trash removal from all the guests?

These are legitimate questions that neither Tia nor her landlord have answered. Maybe she should tell the truth about her plans, and share the details, before she attacks the current residents.

honestly? there are dog bites from all sorts of breeds. should we just get rid of all of them? honestly you know nothing about dogs if your being so hateful towards them. every dog is diffrent and the usual cause with bites is the fact that the breeders didnt do their job properly. there are more good dogs then problem dogs. its the medias fault for giving them such a bad image and brainwashing you so you can't see the beauty in pit bulls.
maybe thats the whole porblem here. if it was beagles or labs then it wont be a problem, but pit bulls? well can't have that. pit bulls are evil odviously since ive seen that they bite. guess that sweet pit bull down the street is just a time bomb. one word B.S. Especially since you love throwing out Ad hominems.

    Just saying again! "

I can read just fine Drex! How is one to comment on such a blog! What really is there to discuss. The author clearly used this as a means to instill fear into the community. You think it's okay for the author to be slanderous? The author obviously wasn't trying to initiate logical comment posts and debate. If that was their intention then they would have written a detailed argument including all the cons of her facility's affects on the area. They would have further discussed and elaborated on their points of interest, such as details on how the dogs presence will pollute the water supply. Instead they chose to display the worst pictures they could find. Where is the authors evidence? All they have done is attempt to discredit these individuals by way of slander. You are silly to expect people to comment logically on the topic, because the blogs has no real intent other than to show these people in the most negative light. It's sad that they felt the need to resort to such pathetic measures. You apparently don't understand the blogs underlying purpose.

Obviously you've not taken the time to read any of the links I've posted. Because your either to blind or stupid, here they are for you.

    http://pitbullaggression.blogspot.com/2011/01/dachshund-aggression.html

    http://pitbullaggression.blogspot.com/2010/11/breed-can-be-dangerous.html

If you cannot even apply this level of common sense then there is no helping you.

When was the last time you've heard of a pomeranian killing 24 people a year? Let alone severely biting or mauling hundreds? What about dachshunds, poodles, labradors, and other breeds? It's not surprising that breeds that were not bred to kill at all costs aren't killing at all costs.

Maybe you should take some B12.

  191. You're a very sick person if this is what has become of your life - trying to run out someone who is not only saving dog's lives and helping rehabilitate prisoners. After reading your blog, it's obvious that your hatred knows no bounds. Hatred for pit bulls, hatred for parolees, hatred for Tia, hatred for people with tattoos...what a bigot you are. People like you know nothing about the pit bull breed - or you have a biased opinion of them from something that happened in your life because of a bad pit bull owner. The reason pit bulls "can" become so dangerous is because they are so trusting and easy to please. Bad people take advantage of those traits and use them against the dogs. "Pit nutters". That's rich. What are YOU then? Pit hater? Pit nutter hater? This is a free country - or it used to be. Mind your own business on your own property. The rift has been created by Carnes and people like you.

  192. YES, Pitbulls are the most loyal & family oriented breed!!! If you look up the history of the Pitbull, they used to be America's dog until idiots started training them to fight! If ANY dog isn't properly socialized, obedience trained, & exercised, then you're gonna end up with an aggressive/fearful dog; but if you do all of that, then you're less likely to have a dog with any behavioral issues! It's all on how the dog is raised people! I have 3 wonderful Pitbulls that go to doggie daycare, live with 3 cats & 2 other dogs, are around children that jump & pull on them, & I have never had any one of my dogs even curl their lip at anyone/anything! Your Golden Retrievers, German Shepards, Labs, & the list goes on, are more aggressive than any Pitbull I've EVER come across in my 27 years of life! If you own a Chow Chow, they are actually the most aggressive & unpredictable breed in the world! That's the kind of dog you should be complaining about! Leave Pitbulls, & Tia alone!!! To you "Pitbull Survivor," it's a shame that you're blaming the breed instead of the careless owner that couldn't properly care for their dog that supposively attacked you:-( If you weren't so stubborn & actually spent some time around a Pitbull, you would see that they are beautiful & people pleasing dogs! Get off your high horse, go to a shelter/rescue, & spend a little time with a Pittie!

The author is not slanderous. If someone post detrimental information about themselves in public forums WITHOUT setting the information to private for ANYONE TO EASILY ACCESS then it is NOT SLANDER. Sorry for all the bolding because obviously these points will not get across unless they are written all caps.

I have been attacked by a pit bull, so has my corgi. I required over 100 stitches. I was just like many of you until I witnessed the ferocity of the bred. I'm not fearful from lack of experience, I am fearful because I've experienced it twice in less than five years.

If you take the time to actually RESEARCH like Craven has or even took the time to RESEARCH his other posts on Tia within this blog or taken the time to RESEARCH HIS RESEARCH you would see most of his claims are factual.

    defamation: false AND damaging

TIA is being called out for BULLYING, there is nothing false here. she is a bully

    Blogger's position on "hateful" material:
"Blogger strongly believes in freedom of speech. We believe that having a variety of perspectives is an important part of what makes blogs such an exciting and diverse medium. With that said, there are certain types of content that are not allowed on Blogger. While Blogger values and safeguards political and social commentary, material that promotes hatred toward groups based on race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status, or sexual orientation/gender identity is not allowed on Blogger."

a variety of perspectives is the number one threat to the pit bull apologia. i not only wish you luck in your blogger complaints, i hope you succeed because that will also be used against tia.

    kern county here i come!

"Tia is the one who seems to be judgmental out of all the people that are commenting on this. Just go to her villalobos rescue center page on facebook and read what she has to say. Unsurprisingly she doesn't even try to refute the claims and facts made by this author. Maybe because she knows that they are true?"

The facebook page you speak of isn't even operated by Tia. She doesn't have the time to be following facebook posts. And did you think that maybe she isn't commenting on it because she is above being slanderous. The author probably intended to provoke a negative response from her and her "followers"! I think it's amusing however that there are more foul remarks coming from the opposing side than from the PB "nutters"! Nice attempt to make us advocates look as portrayed! FAIL!

I do not know what kind of heroin you've been injecting but it must be very effective on your lack of common sense thinking.

There is no recorded proof of pit bulls being America's Dog form the time era claimed (1900's-1950) but there sure is a lot of evidence of pit type dogs being bred as idiots for idiots.

    http://pitbullchatter.blogspot.com/2011/02/americas-dog.html

There is no proof of pit bulls being nanny dogs from the time era suggested (1920's-1950's) but there is proof that a word used to describe in individual staffordshire terrier's behavior in the 70's was erroneously distorted in the early 90's to the benefit of the pit bull advocacy.

In fact, most if not everything that the pi bull community has been throwing at you is a lie. Lies that they CANNOT provide copious amounts of factual written information of their claims. But there's surprisingly a lot of information on the contrary to their beliefs.

    You've been duped, Sarah.

So how do you explain her vicious and mean spirited attack on Merle Carnes and her Tehachapi neighbors?

    Just curious...

  198. "She does offer spay/neuter services. The problem is that there are too many people who won't and don't bring their dogs in"

    SHE'S LYING TO YOU!

    Do you understand that?

She's making excuses for not really helping pit bulls. She's hoping you buy the excuses, and overlook the fact that all that money isn't being used to really fix the problems.

She could be going right into the inner city where people don't have cars to drive to offices or businesses.

(Meanwhile she's hanging around with backyard pit bull breeders breeding more and more to die)
