craven mail bag: the stinger edition part 2

Well, my neighbor couldn't leave well enough alone.
Even though he was banned from owning "pit bull type" dogs for no less than 5 years, last week he brought two of them home. On the day he brought them home I was out on the driveway changing the blade on my lawnmower. He came down the alley, smiled at me and dropped the leashes to both animals, they just were obviously confused as to what he wanted them to do. He said "By the time I am done teaching these dogs, they will both hate you & want your blood. And one day, I am going to give it to them". He then took the animals and calmly walked back to his property. Now let me tell you, I was worried as to how these dogs would react when he dropped the leashes, but I just acted indifferent and continued with the task at hand. After I was done I went inside, called the police, and told them about the confrontation. They were there within five minutes (not a bad response time for this area), with animal control on their heels. About five minutes later he was led out to the cruiser in handcuffs, both of his new dogs were on catch poles, being led to the animal control truck. When I finally spoke with my neighbor, he smiled smugly and said "Its your word against mine, buddy. And we already have a history." He was not quite correct in that statement, as I later (in the day) found out that the neighbor across the alley had installed a security camera to watch his driveway & it had caught the whole occurrence, sans audio. I called the police, gave them my case number, and told them that I now had evidence concerning the interaction.
When I last spoke with the police I found out that the pit nutter was being tried on several charges, and after the video evidence was brought forth he plead guilty to some of the charges. The one police officer I spoke with told me (unofficially/off the record) that this man will be doing prison time, 2 years at the very least & that he will most likely never be allowed to own a dog of any kind again.
The police said I acted in a very level-headed manner considering the situation & the individual involved. One of the officers, who was also involved with the incident where I killed the pit bull, laughingly said that when he heard the call from dispatch he half expected to find my neighbor dead from a fatal arrow wound. With a totally straight face I told him that if the situation had progressed to the point of the dogs attacking with him standing there watching, there would have been several arrows fired & the results would not have been good.
So I guess some stories do have a happy ending. The pit nutter is going to jail, the dogs are gone, & the neighborhood can live without worry of attack from one of these animals or their border-line psychopathic owner.
And so this story ends.

  1. All stories should have this kind of happy ending!

  2. Few things make me laugh anymore. This was a great read and it made me laugh. We need more 'Stingers' in our neighbrhoods!

  3. They get this mad even if you don't kill their pit bull. I've been physically assaulted more than once just for stopping a pit bull attack on someone's dog. Didn't hurt the pit bull, just stopped the attack. The owners fly into a apoplectic rage -- I mean, they go red in the face, their eyes bulge, they start shouting and punching, completely hysterical. I've been lucky that there were always witnesses present to make these nutcases restrain themselves or else to restrain them.

I always avoid when I can. But nowadays carry weapons for if I ever need to stop a pit bull again (determined next time to stop it forever), but also pepper spray to stop the owner after I've stopped the pit bull. It's the only way I feel safe walking down the street with a dog (or even without one).

Everyone who chooses pit bulls is crazy in some way or other. I mean, seriously mentally disturbed. It's good this neighbor of yours will get jail time, but to be honest it would be even better if humanity were relieved of him altogether.

cant help but agree with your last comment . i would just call it euthanasia and feel good riddance to human garbage. unfortunately this p.o.s. will prob be out sometime and will be no smarter or self restrained than he ever was. hope third time round takes care of the problem for good .

Sorry, I just had to repeat that long quote of what happened because it felt too good.

Stinger, your side of the altercation kicked so much ass at one time, that it is too rare for things to turn out that well. My hat is off to you. Keep up the good fight and protecting you and yours. You are doing everything right and nothing wrong.

  6. Often, assault with a dog is considered assault with an edged weapons. These cowards that think they can slice someone without using their own knife but a dog instead have another thing coming.

  7. Sputnik, your experiences mimic what most of us would expect based upon our experiences. Like you, any more I carry the lethal defense for the dog and the less lethal for the nutters that want a piece of me before or after.

  8. Where, exactly, does "Stinger" reside? It seems like their police and AC have their acts at least somewhat together. Face it: In a lot of places the pit owner would not have been prosecuted for anything.

However, with that said, I like to collect "Success stories". Hopefully, there will be more and more of them as time goes on.

  9. Isn't it interesting how pit bull ownership and criminal behavior are so closely linked?

  10. I guess I'm really finally "getting" that "nutter" doesn't just mean "nutty for pits", but also includes "bat-shit crazy".

i am not so sure that it is cowardice as much as it is cunning.

they know they will likely get away it. there was a story in the UK about Weapon dogs a couple of years ago. the thugs openly admitted it.

  13. "Stinger, your side of the altercation kicked so much ass at one time,"

YES, what DubV said! i've never shot a rifle, never held a bow, i don't recall ever seeing a bow in person but my gut feeling is that it requires an awesome skill level to pull off killing a pit bull with a bow.
wow, i mean we're talking godlike status here.

  14. oops, i forget that some people can't see dogsbitedecatur.

for thos of you who can't, here it is.

  15. I think it's both cowardice and cunning, in different degrees in individuals. My "own" close encounter with a mauler involved a cowardly owner. Stinger's definitely had a well thought out plan he was trying to carry out.

Stinger, I hope you bought the video camera owner a case of beer or something. :)

And if there are any pit nutters reading, I have to say if I ever decide to get an advanced degree in psych, I'm going to work you all into some kind of academic credit. Study you like bugs under a microscope. How is it you don't notice you're so freaking crazy?

  16. Godlike status, huh...?

But seriously, the shot wasn't that difficult. I was no more than 10-15 yards away from the dog when I loosed the arrow. The arrow struck on the right side of the animal's front quarters & then exited out the other side. I have killed a large black bear with this bow, so a pit bull was well within its limits.

As to the neighbor who caught the incident on camera: I offered, but he doesn't drink anymore. But I did take him out for a nice steak dinner, instead.

And as to my location: I live in Western Canada, Alberta to be exact.

  17. one of my heros drowned a mutant that was latched onto his collie, in the river where they were . the owner bitched like a woman but apparently wasnt going to risk anything else.

  18. I really think many pit bull owners are scared of their own dogs when they see them attack a human or another dog.

Then there's the douche bag pit owners like in Stinger's case who does nothing because he'd rather gawk at his pit bull mauling another dog. Then when his pit receives its well deserved dirt nap, instead of claiming responsibility for his mauling machine, decides to throw threats at the victim.

But I do love happy endings, thank you Stinger. Many "tragic accidents" don't turn out in the victim's favor.

  19. the average black bear is what 400 lbs? compared to a 50-70 lb pit bull, that is a much larger target.

for someone like me, no knowledge of hunting, rifles or bows, yep god-like.

occasionally our side wins a big one. a few years ago, a man just happened to go with his wife for a jog in the neighborhood. a psychopath's alter ego escaped, wanna say it was bullmastiff or cane corso mix, not a straight up pit bull but some kind of huge ugly gripper mix, and attacked them. the husband wrestled that thing with his bare hands and choked that mutant off. of course the psychopath was arrested for making threats for killing his dog.

i wish i could remember that guy's name. he's another that has god-like status. i think this happened in missouri around 2008. vintage do you remember this attack?

  21. "one of my heros drowned a mutant that was latched onto his collie, in the river where they were ."

Was he able to do that and still save the collie?

  22. There was an older gentleman who was attacked by a pit and grabbed its collar and "accidentally" twisted it until the thing expired.

And the lady who killed I think 2 pits with a bread knife while they attacked her english bulldog in her kitchen.

A list of bad asses in mutant fighting history would be interesting. Another list for nonhumans would obviously include Justice The Mule and Doty the donkey.

Cazz, the way I see it is that anyone who owns a pit-type undog has the cheaper choice to get one of these tatoos on their forehead:

    -- IQ depressed + NPD
    -- My penis is tiny
    -- I suffer penis envy
-- Total Imbecile But Still Entitled

The trouble is that they're too dumb to understand that the tatoo would be a cheaper way to advertise what their problem is.

  24. @ Rumpelstiltskin, September 6, 2012 4:24 PM : I really think many pit bull owners are scared of their own dogs when they see them attack a human or another dog. Then there's the douche bag pit owners like in Stinger's case who does nothing because he'd rather gawk at his pit bull mauling another dog.

I've seen both. The ones who wanted to be lion tamers but then piss and poop in their pants from fear when the PB does what it's supposed to do. The ones who hate the world and life (and themselves, secretly, and their mommy and daddy, etc) and like watching the killing...because it's in fact what they'd like to do to their mommy and daddy and everyone else.

For both, euthanization would be a mercy. To us and to them.

Meanwhile, I believe we are slowly increasing 'best'locations to be attacked by a PB. Anywhere within 20 yds of Stinger (xxxooo), but also anywhere within sight of me, and I know several others who are now armed and just waiting for the chance to kill a gripper and then mace or seriously harm its owner too. I mean, all would rather avoid but are determined not to let it happen again.

Anger is building and in the end Nature will out.

  25. Just for some perspective....I posted a while ago about the numerous great white shark sightings here on Cape Cod, during the height of tourist season. Several weeks ago, a swimmer was attacked by one....

    http://abcnews.go.com/US/cape-cod-shark-attack-victim-911-calls-released/story?id=16902796

He was swimming with his son, when the huge dorsal fin appeared between them...the man then disappeared under water. The shark grabbed him by the legs and pulled him under.

Apparently he kicked the shark, and it LET GO. He swam to shore, and was rushed to the hospital. He got numerous stitches to his legs and ankles, but will be fine.

So, apparently, your chances of escaping a great white shark attack seem a bit better than escaping a pit bull attack, since a pit bull is far less likely to respond to being "kicked" than a great white shark. It's truly amazing when you think that wild animals....even the top predators, like bears, sharks, and mountain lions...kill and maim far fewer people than domestic dogs do each year. Considering the fact that development has put these wild animals in often close contact with humans, the numbers are exceedingly small.

There has never been a case where a wild animal ran through a residential area attacking multiple people...unless the animal was rabid. There are numerous recent stories of loose "pet" pit bulls doing just that....going on a rampage and biting/mauling anyone in their path.

If a wild animal enters a residential area and even APPEARS threatening, it is usually dispatched quickly. But domestic dogs are almost always given a pass, simply because they are someone's private property.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Stinger you are so brave.

First in your quick actions to save your neighbor and second in continuing to live next to your crazy neighbor. I could do the former, but not the latter. You are living next to a terrorist.
Is your neighbor being charged with "terrorist threats" because clearly that is what he is.

A friend of mine lived for 8 years next to people who bred and raised pit bulls for fighting. AC was useless even when she gave them video footage of them training for fighting. Oh and there is an ordinance that said you could not breed pit bulls. They were always succesful in hiding the dogs when they needed to. Their dogs escaped their yards numerous times and killed other pets and went after people and nothing ever happened. One time one of their loose dogs came after her and she was smart enough to get into her car- had she tried to make it to the house she wouldn't have. Thank goodness it was not her 5 year old who was out front that day. The neighbors did have some dogs confiscated over the years, but they just went out and replaced them. She was never so relieved as when they finally moved.

  27. @dub re mutant drowning.
yea the collie dog survived but the undog didnt . way it should be too .

the pitter didnt see it that way though , it seemed to think some terrible injustice had been done . maybe the collie growled or went to pick up a stick or something else lethally provocative.
