I thought we have been watching a horror movie about pits all day every day?? Just knowing about all the maulings and killings done by pits makes me think it's a movie, can't be real.
notice how in order to do the stunts, the dogs have to be incredibly trained and predictable. also, it just goes to show, pit bulls are very good with humans, or else they would have been unable to maintain safety for the actors. just saying.
Didn't know where to post this, but I thought it might answer some of the questions some of us have about why our animal control officers support the pit bull breeders and let pit bulls attack us, etc
This was Massachusetts. I can only imagine how animal control operates in some backwaters of Missouri, Arkansas, etc
Think about people like this involved in public safety issues and enforcement
Animal officer charged in theft By Ira Kantor and Renee Nadeau Algarin Saturday, May 29, 2010 - Added 5h ago
Westford animal control officer was arraigned yesterday for allegedly stealing expensive town equipment and nearly a dozen department-issued weapons, including a semiautomatic handgun that turned up in a Lowell drug bust, authorities said.
Michael Harrington, 45, of Tyngsboro, pleaded not guilty in Ayer District Court yesterday at his arraignment on charges of stealing eight Smith & Wesson handguns, two shotguns, and a rifle; larceny over $250 and receiving stolen property.
According to Middlesex District Attorney Gerard T. Leone Jr.’s office, a Westford official suspected Harrington in the April theft of equipment from the school department’s maintenance facility. Harrington was later caught on surveillance video walking out of that building with an $800 power broom, which was found at his home, prosecutors alleged.
Harrington also allegedly stole 11 guns issued to him and the animal control department and then sold them on the street. One weapon, a Smith & Wesson semiautomatic handgun, was reportedly recovered in an April 9 Lowell drug raid.
“This defendant abused his authority and the public’s trust and has seriously compromised the safety and security of the people of Massachusetts by distributing the stolen guns,” Leone said.
Harrington was ordered held on $5,000 bail, said Cara O’Brien, Leone’s spokeswoman.
O’Brien was unable to identify Harrington’s lawyer.
Anonymous, so by your logic, since animal trainers can train or handle lions, tigers, bears, wolves, elephants, and alligators to perform in movies without the actors being injured, that must mean that all those animals work well with humans and would be good pets, too.
Anon, doesn't prove a thing, get it thru your head, pits are unpredictable. They are fine one minute and killing the next. There are all kinds of triggers for their attacks. Ever heard of just plain luck, well this just might be the case. I have picked up stray pits for years, never had a problem myself. Does that mean anything to one educated about pits, hell no. Just says I lucked out. That plus a knowledge of pit behavior saved my ass. Were there problems afterwards with these pits, a great many, just took the right trigger. Probably a 90% failure rate on REAL temperament testing. I've been on cases where pits have killed, it ain't a pretty sight. And I've seen other dog attacks, but there is a big difference. When the doctors describe pit attacks to be liken to shark attacks, they are right, whereas the others were a lot of just puncture wounds. Pits actually rip the meat right off with some actually eating it. Read some of the media reports describing a victim who watched the pit eat her calf meat. So who the fuck are you to pimp pits anyway when they have this kind of background? They are dangerous no matter how fucking big that smile is or how fast they can wiggle their fat asses. They are not just killing people, they are extreme at doing it. You might live from a cocker attack, and many other breeds when they attack. And then what about afterwards, do the pits take flight like another breed, hell no, they stand their ground to the point where they are being shot by the police everyday. Do you want this to continue to your beloved breed? Well, it will as long as you stay in denial of what they are, what they were bred to do. It will continue as long as you fight the very thing that will help the pits - BSL.

Westford, MA only has a population of about 25,000 so it's hardly a metropolitan city. Anyone can be corrupt, whether they live in a city like New York or a "backwater" town in the middle of nowhere.
