Need Help Finding The Woman Who's Dog Bit Mine (Magnuson Park, Seattle)

I'm looking for a woman with 2 female fawn colored Pitbulls. The woman is of asian descent, and about 40 tears old. One of her dogs bit my dog Sunday afternoon May 13th, in the south section of Magnuson park and needed 10 stitches. This woman gave me an non-working phone number. The vet bill that she owes me is for $800. Any help would be very apprieciated.

the fact that you left this comment is indicative of the level of gullibility among pit nutters. there seems to be a lot of epiphanies going around these days, here's hoping Dog Nerd's will be next.

i have covered a plethora of pit bull owning welfare queens, drug addicts, hoarders, thieves, sex offenders, wife beaters, arsonists and bipolar alcoholics but i am starting to get bored with them. it is time to shine some light on the gifted and educated pit nutters.

last september, there was rumor of a fatal pit bull attack at a seattle off leash park. it seemed more than a little odd that the owner of the deceased boxer did not file a report. i thought it was suspicious but i blogged it. i'm guilty.

STORMI KING at smart paws posted it at pitbullforum. in the beginning, all of the PBF nutters were angry at the idiot for "setting his pitties up to fail" and further harming the image of their mushy wiggle butts but slowly, the story turns and takes on new life. the story is a boxer was killed and a boston terrier were injured by 3 pit bulls that were accompanied by a tattooed male. he returns again a few days later and his dogs attack and seriously injure a husky. three days later and 3 pages into the PBF forum thread, KIRSTAN SANDERS (cofounder of lawdogs) shows up and claims the attack was a hoax. now all of the PBF nutters start to circle the "it's a hoax" wagons and by page 5, they are blaming colleen lynn for fabricating the story to create hysteria to support a breed ban being considered in a nearby seattle suburb. the colleen blame game was started by the gifted and educated cofounder of lawdogs KIRSTAN SANDERS. by page 6, the consensus is the attack was completely fabricated, they claim to have proof and FABB will set the record straight with a press release. the details of the attacks aren't really important right now but by page 8, there is now hysteria at the off leash park and oh-my-god-people-are-attacking-innocent-pit-bulls-at-the-OLA!! the PBF pit nutters of course believe THAT to be the gospel truth. by page 9, the PBF panties are really in a bunch as none of the news stations will touch the FABB press release. uh-oh, better blame colleen some more. need to burn off this frustration with the evil media. on page 10, it looks like PBF will finally, yet reluctantly let this thread die. STORMI KING claims that FABB has proven it was a hoax, she even sent in E-V-I-D-E-N-C-E, (?) and she provides the closing argument:

I'll go ahead and add the disclaimer now that I'm pretty sure everyone here is well aware on my stance of APBTs in dog parks (and if you don't, feel free to read Red's sticky in the general section), but ya gotta massage the public a little, ya know?

so NOW we know what the gifted and educated pit nutters contribute to the pit bull mess! i will save you the trouble of reading "Red's Sticky" on pit bulls and dog parks and give you the CliffNotes version: don't take your pit bull to a dog park because if it kills another dog, it makes all pit bulls look bad.

so let's take a closer look at STORMI KING'S "massage":

instead of telling people who own "bully breeds" that in her honest, professional (ie gifted and educated) opinion that pit bulls do NOT belong in the dog park, STORMI KING warns them to be careful because "innocent" pit bulls have been assaulted. STORMI KING also provides a few general tips about dog parks, and offers up FABB's version of events based on their "investigation".

Through talking with direct sources, including local veterinarians, witnesses who were at the park that day, Seattle Animal Control, and the vet tech who KOMO originally interviewed, it has been proven that these alleged attacks are false. Via information gathered from the owner's friends, family, and the rescue from which she adopted her dogs, it appears her dog was in fact killed by a vehicle due to owner negligence and was not even at the dog park on that day. There were also rumors that two huskies were attacked and injured by the same mystery dogs a week later. These claims were also proved false. Although these attacks turned out to be a hoax, the concerns surrounding this story bring up an important issue of which all dog owners should be aware: safety at the dog park.

part two: pit nutter vs pit nutter, who to believe?

another dog trainer, the gifted and educated GRISHA STEWART has the REAL scoop. of course the facts collide with what FABB desperately wants the facts to be. here is STEWART'S version which unlike the gifted and educated STORMI KING, actually names the seattle animal control source.

I spoke with Kara Main-Hester, Ph.D. of Seattle Animal Control this afternoon and found the real scoop about the “attacks” at Magnuson off-leash park in October. The short version is that no Boxer was harmed in the making of this urban legend. Read on for the confirmed information.

Here are the facts of the Boxer story, as told to me by Animal Control:

•There was a senior Boxer at the water with a small dog, and there was a scuffle with pit bull – type dogs. The owner was not bald, but had short hair. He did have tattoos.

•The scuffle seemed to be of the ‘normal’ type that dog park fans see a lot of, with a lot of bluster but no injuries. I’m sure it was still scary for all involved, but dogs of all breeds do get into arguments and it sounds like this was nothing to be alarmed about.

•The Boxer was never taken to the vet, because there were no injuries.

• No report has been filed by the Boxer’s owner, and she probably wishes this would all just go away (I had heard from another source that her husband didn’t want the dog at the park in the first place). Therefore, animal control is no longer doing special patrols, just the regular ones.

• After weeks of the mystery owner being unidentified, Animal Control got her name and made a visit, 3 weeks after the events at Magnuson. The Boxer had no signs of injury and the woman reported no injuries.

Given how much this story has been stretched, I feel like we have no real information on who started the scuffle (versus it being an unprovoked attack), among other things.

The Husky incident is being dealt with by the police, not Seattle Animal Control. I’m not sure why. The Husky did get a broken leg. It may or not have been the same dogs who fought with the Husky as the previous week with the Boxer.

let's summarize:

FABB/STORMI KING/KIRSTAN SANDERS say the boxer was hit by a car and killed. there was no fight, no scuffle. the boxer wasn't even at the dog park that day.

Seattle AC/GRISHA STEWART say, there was a scuffle between the boxer and a pit bull, there were no injures and the boxer is alive.

FABB/STORMI KING/KIRSTAN SANDERS say the husky attack story was completely fabricated.

Seattle AC/GRISHA STEWART say yes a husky was attacked and his leg was broken.

After listening to KUOW’s “The Conversation” on September 10 about pit bulls, as well as learning about the horrific recent attack in Seatac, I am compelled to write a letter to the editor with a story that is eerily relevant.

This past Sunday, September 7, my yellow lab Sam was viciously attacked by a pit bull owned by the founder of F.A.B.B. (Families Against Breed Bans), at the grand opening of a friendly new dog store (Zak and Zoe) on Phinney Ridge. The attack was witnessed by many, and all were horrified. Everyone was also struck by the irony of the incident: the attack happened after we had all been standing around outside the store, calmly listening to the owners tell us about the sweetness of pit bulls, and how it is the owner’s fault when pit bulls become violent. They had come to the grand opening event to make their cause known, handing out flyers and “educating the public” about pit bulls. And then, after 15 minutes of standing with them, chatting, all dogs on leashes, without any notice or provocation or visible signs of aggression whatsoever preceding the attack, their pit bull turned violently on our dog and locked his jaws on Sam’s neck. Let me be clear, this was not in any way a fight. Sam was just standing there (he’s known in our area as ‘the sweetest dog on the planet’) — this was an unprovoked attack.

After minutes (which seemed like hours) of watching our dog scream while their pit bull held Sam’s neck in his jaws, while no one, not even the dog’s owner was able to release him, finally somehow he was freed. We immediately took Sam to a quiet place nearby, where he stood shaking uncontrollably for nearly 1/2 hour, with a racing heartbeat. A dog specialist who happened to be on the scene generously offered to work with him to keep him from going into shock. She said that given what she had just witnessed, she was very surprised that half of Sam’s face wasn’t ripped off. Many of us believed he was about to be killed right then and there, at Greenwood and 74th, on the sidewalk, with our families (including our 5-year-old daughter) all around.

My husband and I did report the incident to the police, and it is going, uncontested, on public record, with a citation issued to the pit bull owners. The day following the attack I received a phone call from a member of the F.A.B.B. organization and was told that “the woman whose dog it was has stepped down and is no longer in charge of the group”.

You can imagine my irritation while listening to yesterday’s guest on KUOW, representing F.A.B.B., three days after this attack, as she defended the ever-popular notion that “it’s not the breed, it’s the owner,” and that these are sweet dogs, completely trustworthy in public. I believe these particular owners to be caring, well-meaning people, offering a loving home to their pit bulls. It is my understanding that the dog that attacked Sam had been through some training, and was thought to be very sweet, and fine in social situations with people and other dogs. These are the good, conscientious, caring kind of pit bull owners. They just happen to have a dog whose predecessors were bred to fight and to kill, and so there can be a predisposition in all these dogs that is genetic, and can lead to unpredictable, dangerous behavior.

I would like this story brought to light, and readers can make what they will of this incident. I would not feel right knowing that our story went untold, in the midst of this heated discussion. At the very least, as a public service message, I think people need to know that it is illegal for a dog to bite another dog in Seattle (as of 2003). Even our wonderful dog trainer (voted best in Seattle 2008) didn’t know that this was a reportable incident.
