pit bulls and mayhem

dinner & cocktails at the canyon club: $120
inadequate collar & leash: $25
restaurant remodel: $3500
carriage repairs: $1000
vet bill: $600
animal control citation: $85

the ability to create mayhem: priceless

17 yr old Razz
williams, arizona last thursday evening, a pit nutter exited a lounge with her mutant appendage (service dog?) and when it saw the carriage horse, genetics took over. the mutant broke free and attacked a carriage horse named Razz. the horse spooked and ran into a restaurant window, where the near toothless frankenmauler continued its attack. people were kicking the dog but it had no effect. a man finally grabbed the dog. this is the second time Razz was attacked by a pit bull and this is the second time the pit bull has attacked a horse (that we know of), that's why he is missing some teeth.
Razz suffered cuts to his legs and nose. unfortunately the ugly pit bull did not suffer a lobotomizing blow to the head. he will no doubt live to maul a third horse, missing front teeth doesn't slow this frankenmauler down.

Here's a recent story where a pug was mauled to death by two pit bulls. http://pressandguide.com/articles/2011/01/12//news/doc4d277cad74dd9052990196.txt

Not even a month in and there's been more than two dozen reports.

Who can forget that after a carriage Horse was attacked in Philadelphia last year, that a Nutter published an OPED Piece that Carriage Horses should be regulated so they don't trigger attacks from Ghetto Sharks?!?

EUTHASOL...IT'S THE ONLY CURE!

"The dog trotted up quietly, I thought it was friendly," said Ms Wallis, who was riding out with a friend and two retrievers.

"Then — without barking or growling — it launched itself at my horse and ripped her throat, shoulder and stomach. It seemed to go on for about five minutes until she threw me off."

My advice to both the Cowboy's Service Carriage Company and to the owner of the horse attacked in the U.K. is hire a lawyer. The very well cared for carriage horse will have a long lay up and may be too traumatized to return to work. This is a HUGE financial loss to the carriage company, they only had two working horses. The loss of income, and the loss of value of the horse MUST be compensated. The U.K horse will also face the same rehab issues but that horse owner suffers the added complication of a dine-and-dash. The U.K. attack was almost exactly the same as the attack on my horse (except the attack on my horse lasted much longer and covered a whole lot of ground), it was hard for me to read the news account. I sued for medical expenses, vet expenses, rehab expenses, meds, and loss of value of the horse. I was compensated. Owners of vicious, livestock attacking dogs must be held accountable.

I love how pit nutters claim all media sources are biased on breed attacks when I was able to find several of these quite easily. http://whosthepooch.blogspot.com/

I'm keeping tracking on pit bull attacks upon humans on this blog. http://pitvictims.blogspot.com/ If anyone would like to contribute any story (needs incidental or report proof) please feel free to comment on the latest ongoing entry.

Absolutely there
MUST be a lawsuit and there must be a lawsuit for EVERY pit bull incident, no matter how small.

Yes, you can ALWAYS find a lawyer to take your case. It is not just the owners that must bear responsibility, it the the harborers, owners of the property where the pit bull is kept, owners of property that allowed pit bull on their premises, city or town if they play a role by refusing to enforce law or it is on their property, breeder or dealer (like shelter or rescue that sold vicious pit bull) etc etc

It may take some calling around, but there is ALWAYS a lawyer to take your case. There are more lawyers than cases these days. They want your business. You just have to keep looking.

Smaller damages, even just a broken fence, sue for free in small claims court. Keep every bit of documentation. There are good websites to guide you for your particular state.

Your pet gets attacked and you have an injury in attack, even back problems or strains or stress disorder or pain and suffering, the pit owner is responsible. You MUST file a lawsuit.

There has been lots of talk about responsibility. MAKE them be responsible. A lawsuit is the only way to do it, since pit bull owners lie and evade responsibility. You also need to create a paper trail to prevent future attacks.

Reports to Animal Control are NEVER enough! AC often does nothing and "loses" the report and may even be protecting the pit bull owner and enabling attacks. (File wriiten reports, yes, but also send copy to everyone in local and even state government so your report does not get disappeared and lied about)

Do not think you are being a "nice guy" by refraining from suing. "Nice guys" only mean that the pit bull owner evades responsibility, you carry the weight, and the dog goes on to kill.

The court is the place to handle all pit bull incidents.

"Yes, you can ALWAYS find a lawyer to take your case."

that is misleading. yes, you can always find a lawyer but you can't always find a lawyer who will take it on contingent basis. the minimum out of pocket expenses for the plaintiff will be $10K depends on how long they drag it out. and if the nutters are judgement proof (and most of them fit that description), you will never see any money.

Looks like there's more news! A pit bull has attacked its neighbor. A 10 year old girl.

I have it documented here.

You are giving misleading information about lawsuits craven. What you are posting about lawyers is wrong, but it is certainly unfortunately what the pit nutters want people to believe to discourage people from suing them, their biggest fear. I am involved in the legal trade, and have several relatives who are lawyers.

YES YOU CAN find a lawyer to take it on contigency basis. You will NOT get a top tier lawyer. You may get a bottom feeder. But YOU CAN FIND ONE TO TAKE IT ON CONTINGENCY. Keep calling!

I live near THREE lawyers who take virtually anything on contingency. They are desperate.

NO, it will NOT not cost $10,000 even if you do decide to hire one.

NO- you are wrong, money can be collected even from what people believe to be judgment proof defendants. because there are other parties involved with these situations who are also sued, and everything from property seizure to garnisheement of wages to liens on property etc. Insurance companies and property seizure if there is a landlord or homeowner allowing the pit owner to harbor the animal there, or property owner if they let a pit on their property and it attacks you an/or pet, or city/town.

And many of these pit bulls are owned by people with property, with jobs, with cars that can be liened. Pit bulls are a middle class derangement as well.

YES you can ALWAYS find a lawyer to take a case. Very small cases are free in small claims court.

The information you are posting about suing guilty pit bull owners is not accurate.

In addition, there are many lawyers who do take on pro bono (free) cases for the poor victim, especially if it shows up in the media. Victims need to ask the reporter to ask area lawyers for help, or victims need to keep calling lawyers and tell their story.

Lawyers especially like pro bono cases that get them media, like a terrible attack on a poor person. They will do pro bono for the indigent.

Victims, do not give up! Your case belongs in court and you CAN get it there! KEEP CALLING, and contact your state legal organization

Here's an example connected to an attack on a pet, small claims.

Another suggestion- file freedom of information request to get owners name in situation like this.

Blogger collecting attacks, here's one I bet you don't have. This pit bull went right through their front door. People aren't safe in their own homes. Christmas morning, and bloodshed in their own home.

Pitbull attacks family pet poodle

A Hamilton family wants to sue the owner of a pitbull after the animal burst into their home on Christmas morning and fatally injured their pet poodle.

The family was in their pyjamas when they answered the knock on the door from a ten-year-old girl.

The 80 pound dog burst inside and attacked the family pet.

A ten-year-old girl had found the pitbull wandering around and was looking for someone to call Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Despite spending $3,000 at the vet, the poodle Max had to be put down.

The family plans to file a freedom of information request to get information about the dog's owner and pursue the incident in small claims court.

The good thing about Handsome Dan is that he has $1,000,000 liability insurance coverage for life.

A sterling example for all Pit Bull owners.

Here we go again. NO, you cannot ALWAYS find a lawyer. NO, you will usually not see a dime from most of these lowlife scums. Stop telling people they can ALWAYS find lawyers. It's not true, and it's damaging to people in this situation who do their best to find somebody to take the case only to find NO ONE will if it's not something with huge damages or against people who have a pot to piss in.

It's a flat out lie, and it's damaging to insist it's not. Most cases against pit nutter scum don't go anywhere unless they have insurance or are property owners. Lawsuits aren't always the answer.

I agree with you anon 5:01.
I did my very best to find a lawyer to take the case of a disabled man and his service dog who was seriously attacked by a neighbor's pit bulls. I contacted every attorney in the county. NOTHING, not even a nibble! Most of them didn't even take the time to contact me to officially reject the case. Lawyers don't want cases where there is nothing to gain!!!
