pit poetry

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,

when in burst two pit bulls to tear off their heads.

They ran and they screamed, it was over they feared,

but by the magic of Christmas, Santa appeared!

"Now Ruger! Now Browning! Now Mossberg and Colt!

On Remington! On Sako! Semi autos and bolts!”

And down through the chimney came Santa with shells,

he loaded his weapons and blew the pit bulls to hell!

He gathered spent rounds then returned to his sleigh,

“Good riddance to pit bulls, have a great Christmas Day!”

I never imagined this rip from 'The Night Before Christmas' would travel beyond its original space in comments. I get a chuckle from this, so thank you for remembering it CD :-)

(Note to legislators: In real life, there is no Second Amendment Santa ready to stop pit attacks in the Jolly Saint Nick of time. In real life, we need regulation. Public Safety First!)

Is it that only pit nutter vets will talk? Are all vets pit nutters? Are they under some pressure to say things they don't believe?

Sadly, I'm beginning to lose a little respect for a profession I would like to hold in high esteem. At around the 1:50 mark, the vet interviewed begins saying things like "there is no such thing as a kid friendly breed or a not kid friendly breed, there is no such thing as an aggressive breed."

Is domestication not covered in vet school now? To assert that genetic difference among dogs just right off hand CANNOT cause differences in aggression (and these difference cannot be breed specific) is similar to arguing that a bobcat and house cat are equally docile, it is lunacy.

Brent Toellner's group is taking over the Kansas City Animal Shelter. I hope pit bull incidents do not spike in the area.

i dont think its a westie but looks can be deceiving . pitters also are sometimes not the tough guys they appear to be . sometimes they are scared of their own fucking dogs .

DubV, vet schools really don't teach nutrition or behavior. they teach their students about fixing medical problems. it made me want to vomit when i heard this todd rundgren look alike vet uttering this bullshit about more likely to report a pit bull bite versus less likely to report a yorkie bite. more likely to report a bite is related to the bite being more likely to require medical treatment which often REQUIRES by law that the dog is reported. in fact, i read a nutter whining about the doctor refusing to treat their bite unless they filled out a dog bite report. hahahaha!
so the reality is if you spray your yorkie bite with bactine, the law doesn't necessarily have to know but if you go to the ER for stitches, well, that has to be reported. :-)

Dr. Julia Albright, an assistant professor of veterinary behavior at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville College of Veterinary Medicine, has said certain breeds such as pit bulls can have a genetic predisposition toward aggression

Thank you Dr. Albright.

I can't believe anyone would think that a dog's breeding has nothing to do with their traits. If that were true, they would be running draft horses in the Kentucky Derby. Unbelievable how many so called professionals are jumping on the pro pitter band wagon & saying ridiculous things. Love the poem, keep up the good work.

any person who thinks breeding has no bearing on temperment should not own a shitbull. this puts in mind my local shelter who claim to have had no problems with pitbulls. this can only be true if the shelter has been well aware of the breeds tendancies.

While corrupt, you will ocasionally find an honest snippet of truth from the Vet and Dog Lobby:

Dr Nicholas Dodman, a Tufts University animal behavioral specialist and author of “Dogs Behaving Badly,” agrees that pit bulls come with some baggage.

“Genetics does play a role and people who think it doesn’t are kidding themselves,” says Dodman. “The pit bull is notorious for a very hard bite. They are always No. 1 in the lethal dog bite parade. The dog was bred for pit fighting. It was bred to never give up, to bite and hang on.”
