let's get ready to rumble.....

featuring....

mutant canine psychopaths

Compliments of Packhorse :-)

"COME OUT AND PLAY"
By Game Offspring

You gotta keep 'em separated!

Like the latest fashion
Like a spreading disease
The pits are scrappin' on their way out of the womb
Turning weapon with the greatest of ease

The packs stake their own sidewalk locale
And when they catch and grip ya, then it's all over pal
Grab ‘em by collars and try your break sticks
They're gonna bash it up, bash it up, bash it up, bash it up

Hey, man you walkin’ past me?
Take him out
You gotta keep 'em separated!
Hey, man you disrespect pitties?
Take him out
You gotta keep 'em separated!

Hey, they don't pay no mind
If you’re the dog owner you won’t be doing any time
Hey, come out and play!

By the time you hear the siren
It's already too late
One goes to the morgue and the other wags tail
One life wasted and the other just played

It goes down the same as the thousand before
No one's getting smarter, no one's learning the score
Your never ending spree of death and violence, breed traits
Is gonna tie your own rope, tie your own rope, tie your own

Hey, man you walkin’ past me?
Take him out
You gotta keep 'em separated!
Hey, man you disrespect pitties?
Take him out
You gotta keep 'em separated!

(REPEAT)

Hey, they don't pay no mind
If you’re the dog owner you won't be doing any time
Hey, come out and play!

power posing

i love ted talks. it is safe to say that i am a ted talk junkie.

this is a fascinating 21 minute talk on body language. the speaker is Amy Cuddy and she studies the nonverbal expressions of power and dominance at the harvard business school. power and dominance is expressed the same throughout all human cultures and across all species. powerful individuals expand out, ie they take up greater space while those who are not powerful tend to collapse in on themselves, ie they take up less space.

Cuddy's research has found that not only does our nonverbal communication influence others' judgements of ourselves but our nonverbal communication influences how we think and feeling about ourselves. our nonverbals even affect our physiology at the hormonal level.

Cuddy enlisted volunteers and conducted an experiment where she measured the testosterone and cortisol in their saliva, then had them hold either a high power or a low power pose for two minutes. afterwards she asked them how powerful they felt. they were given the opportunity to gamble and then a second saliva sample was taken.

Cuddy found that after just a two minute pose, the test subjects were affected at the hormonal level. the test subjects in the high power pose had a significant decrease in cortisol and a significant increase in testosterone and the volunteers who held the low power pose had a significant decrease in testosterone and a significant increase in cortisol. the test subjects who held the two minute high power poses also took significantly more risks during the gambling portion of the experiment.

Cuddy notes that people who feel powerful are more assertive, confident, optimistic, and take more risks.

i immediately saw how this could be a major perk of dog ownership, especially pit bulls whose presence has the power to clear side walks. and i wondered about the hormonal change in someone who spends much of their day in a power pose.

but the increased risk taking behavior is what grabbed my attention. let's face it, the problem with pit bulls is the risk they pose to the rest of us. and us non pit bull owning people just can not fathom WHY these pit nutters continue to take these risks. many of the maladaptive personality types that we are accustomed to encountering in the pit bull subculture are known for their thrill seeking and risk taking traits. but there could be other explanations for their reckless behavior.

according to Cuddy's research...
our bodies change our minds
our minds change our behavior
our behavior changes our outcomes.

maybe this surge in testosterone could explain the behavior of some pit bull owners.

the testosterone high leads pit nutters to assert themselves and their dogs on the rest of us. they are confident that their dog will never hurt a fly and continue to deny its dangerousness even after the pit proves otherwise. they are optimistic that if we just meet their pibble, we too will become convinced of the magic of pibble. these testosterone driven feelings in turn gives them the confidence to take risks like walk them off leash, go to the dog park or trust them alone with your polite seated guests when you excuse yourself to to go the restroom.

as Cuddy wraps up this fascinating 21 minute video, she talks about how these tiny tweaks in our body language can bring about big changes and she advises people to keep at it and don't just fake it til they make it, fake it til they become it. sadly, some people really should not be faking it til they become it. no amount of "faking it" will give them mastery over the innate dog aggression in pit bulls.

that's all just rambling food for thought but it does remind me of another pit nutter in the news recently...

TRISHA ROBINSON-ANTONELLI demonstrating her confidence and mastery over dogs in the ultimate power pose at a children's playground.

TRISHA ROBINSON-ANTONELLI is the owner of dog training business that she arrogantly calls DAWGPHONICS. as you will see, she is not all that fluent in the language of dog.

in november 2012, an injured pit bull was found and the floriduh nutters turned him into another abused celebrity complete with facebook campaign. AXEL was nursed back to health and then sent to live in a foster home with local dog trainer TRISHA ROBINSON-ANTONELLI on january 9, 2013. (due to the fact that no one wanted him, ANTONELLI later ended up adopting him.)

four days after taking possession of AXEL, on january 13th, MR ANTONELLI uploaded this photo of AXEL with the caption "Axel's first visit to the sage biscuit cafe". click on the photo and look at this photo closely.

yep. that's right. FOUR DAYS into his new foster home and TRISHA ROBINSON-ANTONELLI slapped a service dog vest on this thing. note that is not an "in-training" vest.

fifteen days later, the "service" dog graduated from obedience school.

on march 6th and then again on april 16th, ANTONELLI uploaded this photo. again, click on the photo to view larger.

notice anything unusal?

less than two months after graduating from obedience school, the "service" dog has also graduated to wearing an e-collar. me thinks as AXEL gets stronger and his fur mommy tries to build his confidence up to match hers, he is transforming into a little tyrant.

fast forward one year, AXEL'S confident, assertive, optimistic fur mommy takes a risk and lets him off leash in her apartment complex and when he spots another pit bull living in the complex, a properly leashed pit bull i might add, AXEL attacks her. (kinda makes you wonder why someone laid an ax down on his head)

"He's had no altercations at all and he was on an electronic collar when this happened," Antonelli added Friday. "I don't know what happened."

ANTONELLI received a $500 citation but still goes on to blame the owner of the other pit bull, Kona, stating Kona got loose and "spooked" AXEL which prompted the attack. Kona's owner denies ANTONELLI'S accusation. i tend believe Kona's owner. if you doubt her version, please revisit the "service" dog above.

i don't know. is it just be me or should "service" dogs be so easily spooked? shouldn't they be bomb proof, especially if you take them into cafes and onto children's playgrounds?

when AXEL came to live with TRISHA ROBINSON-ANTONELLI and wear a "service" dog vest, she determined that he should only be adopted into a home with no other dogs but after the attack claims to have "completely retrained him." i'd say that TRISHA ROBINSON-ANTONELLI is another ego maniacal lion tamer who believes she can train dog aggression out but i think it more likely that she is back peddling and trying to cover her guilty ass.

i found plenty of photos of what appears to be TRISHA ROBINSON-ANTONELLI violating the apartment complex's leash law. clearly this was not the first offense.

the day after the attack :-)

but i think this was by far, the funniest thing i came across. i just had to share this oldie but goodie. it was just like swagger in, slither out all over again. good times.

he was the laughing stock of the neighborhood. they're not laughing anymore. evoking fear has never been easier. simply adopt a pit bull.

question: why are so many people treating these ugly mutants with kid gloves when they are locked onto another animal? seriously the ugly thing is focused on the normal dog, NOW is the time to eviscerate it.

and speaking of those mythical locking jaws...

LUCY

craiglist ad (now defunct)
Lucy is a 2 year old spayed American Bulldog that needs a loving home where she can run and play. Lucy has had one incident since we had her where she jumped a baby gate and got into a dog fight in her yard and bit the other dogs owner as she attempted to break up the fight. Lucy has never displayed this behavior and was only protecting her family and home. Kitsap Animal Control says Lucy is a danger however she is not. Lucy does not stand a chance at a good life if left in Kitsap County. If here she must be isolated and not able to go on car rides as she so much loves. she loves to play and go to the lake and swim and chase after sticks thrown in the water. Lucy also is very funny and is very entertaining. She is very protective of her family and her home. Lucy is a wonderful pet and just needs to beable to roam freely in a fenced yard and be loved by others. Please call Karen at 360-328-0700 for more details or if interested in this beautiful lovely dog. Leave message if no answer

Lucy is a 2 year old American Bulldog that we are wanting to re-home out of Kitsap County. Lucy jumped over a baby gate and got into a fight with another dog in her yard and bit the other dogs owner. Per Kitsap Animal Control Lucy is a danger and has to be isolated, away from other people and has to be muzzled when leaving the house. Lucy was protecting her environment and she is being punished by it. Lucy is fun, lots of energy, very lovable and funny. She was named after Lucille Ball as she has that goofy funny disposition. Lucy loves to give smooches and sit on your lap. She needs to have grain free food as she has a sensitive tummy and sometimes needs rice and yogurt if her tummy is bothering her. Lucy is updated on all shots. She does have allergies and takes Benadryl everyday and we keep a bottle of liquid Benadryl for bee stings. Lucy loves to go for car rides, does not care for the dog park because she wants to make sure her family is taken care of and she loves the lake but hates having a bath (silly girl) Lucy can self entertain but loves to be around her family. Lucy goes no where without her blankie and will drag it around if she is tired. Lucy likes to be placed behind the baby gate when it is to busy in the house or she wants to sleep. She also has been kennel trained but likes to just be outside mommy's door at night with her blanket and gait up. There is so much to say about Lucy. She has been a great addition to our family for the last year.

compatibility: good w/most dogs, good w/most cats, good w/ kids & adults
personality: average energy, average temperament

att: washington nutters: dog aggressive, bite history, dangerous dog designation, mandatory muzzle, food issues, allergies, in home gate system (which she has proven she can easily breach) LUCY is a real bargain @ $400.

Hello. My name is Frank McManus. I need to rehome my pit bulls as soon as possible. The State of Pennsylvania has deemed them "dangerous dogs" for attacking another dog.

Mor is 14 months old and is a pure bred old family red nose pit bull. She is about fifty pounds. She does have problems with other animals but not with Finn who she lives with. She has been toy aggressive with Finn on two occasions. She is not food aggressive and loves people. Super high energy. Needs spayed.

Finn is 3 years old and is well socialized, very mellow and a great boy. He is around 75 pounds. He is a rescue from the Harrisburg Humane Society. He is fixed.

Rehoming my dogs is my only option. Being considered dangerous dogs they will never be able to go on a walk again and my landlord will evict me if I do not remove them. I must seek an out of state rescue so that they are not considered "dangerous dogs" which they are not. Finn has never had a problem before. Plays well at the groomer and dog park. Mor needs socialization which has always been a challenge.

I am devastated about having to give them up. I have already been to court for it. However if they were to get out of the gate again they may be put down. And as I said before, as of now, they cant go for a walk ever again and I may be evicted. I am in a terrible position. I never want to leave them but I am being forced to.

My phone number is 717810XXXX. wIf you are able to help PLEASE contact me. I only have 48 hours. I am a long time pit bull lover and I am informed enough to know that all rescues are in a tough spot. But they are great dogs and do not deserve this condemnation. I would be willing to make as large of a donation as I can if you can find a place for them at your rescue.

Thank you for your time,
Frank McManus

"arrogant, asshole, dickhead"

that's what FRANK'S friends say about him. i'd say that's a good start.

i had a lot of questions. i hoped to find the answers on facebook but it just left me with more questions. questions like, why did this mangina drive all the way to georgia, fork over $1500 for an OFR when the shelters in pennysylvania are bursting at the seams with pit bulls? especially in light of the fact that even his friends were saying he needed ANOTHER dog like he needed a hole in his head, indicating that he was struggling with the one mutant. why is this dufus surprised that he can't handle a dog that has been intensively bred for combat for almost 200 years? why does a successful tattoo artist, who can afford to drive to georgia and pay $1500 for a FREAKING DIME A DOZEN PIT BULL, need to trade tattoos for firearms? why doesn't he just purchase them? unless of course, he legally can't. why is he moving? why did his june pride in his little mutant's first kill turn into a desperate need to unload her in august?
I need to find my puppy a home. Her name is Mor. She is one year old and about 45 pounds. She is an old family red nose pit bull. So she is not a rescue. She is a very rare bloodline. It took me two years, a trip to Georgia and 1500 dollars to get her. You can read about the old family bloodline at www.bryantsreddevils.com. Because of a highly selective breeding program she is highly intelligent, highly prey driven and extremely athletic. But also a loving and cuddly playful pup. This being stated, whoever is interested in adopting her must be aware that she is a handful. She needs training, time, effort an patience. You must be her pack leader. With classes and socialization and TLC she will grow up to be an incredible dog. She has climbed a six foot fence, killed a possum and fought another dog. This is not because of aggression. It is because of high prey drive and energy. She lives with another male dog now and they are great friends so she has the ability to be good with other dogs. I do not want to give her up. She is amazing. But I have had a difficult time training and socializing her. She needs much more time and effort than I have experienced with my other dogs. So if you are a dedicated pit bull lover interested in adopting her please private message me.
correction: she didn't FIGHT another dog. she tried to KILL another dog. and it has less to do with aggression than an uncontrollable urge to flex her DNA. expecting this mutant to behave politely around other dogs would be the equivalent to expecting freckled fair skinned people to not burn in the sun. and now frank mcmangina is trying to unload his purpose bred fighting dog on the internet to gullible idiots under the pretense of SHE JUST NEEDS MORE SOCIALIZATION!

FUCK!!!

she NEEDS to be on a logging chain connected to a truck axle driven several feet deep into the ground in the georgia woods!

and i'd really like to know what happened to his other pit bull?

but the really important question here, actually, the only question that really matters is WHY IS THE STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA COLLUDING WITH THIS PUNK IN SHUTTLING A DANGEROUS DOG INTO ANOTHER STATE WITHOUT A DANGEROUS DOG DESIGNATION? this is pinnacle of irresponsibility and criminal negligence. haven't we learned anything from the catholic church scandal?

Sadfalada strikes again

They are everywhere, everywhere
on pretty streets, and ugly;
on walking paths, on beaches,
in parks, playgrounds, in shops,
in flimsy backyards
or suddenly in houses we thought secure
they bolt across open space, head low,
with eyes like fixed gravel
common as stones, everywhere
we see them, adrenaline scorches the image, body becomes trembling ice
yet we are told they cannot be known, that we deny the loss and toll,
and ignorance, accept

But this is how they may be known,
by hellish roil of nightmare sound
as a living thing
we love and protect,
in futile struggle, is ground down to death
and that death isn't quick, it's meant to prolong
the display of bloodcraft, the Raveners song
but this unknown actor works in silence,
the chorus provides him with shrieks and screams and blows, he will not relent
till costumed in blood and shreds of a dying soul
and is hurried from the scene by his keeper, grinning in furtive pride
and bloody footprints follow
like rose petals and confetti

Out on any busy midday street another performance is unfolding
in a cluster of anguish, the chorus of watchers heave
and lunge, in panic and horror
the dog unmoving and silent
as a little grey poodle is throttled
and lies flattened as an
Irregular shadow on the pavement
his only life a strangled thin scream
a fraying ribbon tying him to life
clinging to it as he is gripped
the throat
a throat no larger than a child's wrist
rising and falling with his owner's own shrieks
as he was thrashed into the sidewalk he had walked so happily
and his silly, soft curls
made him look like a child's frivolous plaything
Now broken, old, discarded, nothing
The bulldog, the bulldog
Is unadorned, as befits his task
he wears a metal collar and
on his huge head is marked
a death mask
and his thick mineral skull
Unassailable and cruel
digs down it's stone weight
to gnaw, shake, and chew
the slaps, tugs, and splashing
does nothing to deter
he thinks it only due his dire work
receive the honor
his owner still straddles him,
that gargoyle to buttress
and whines and tugs, and knocks
his head
tells him time to soon desist
when then the poodle escapes, and scrambles free
it's joy in life forever tainted
but the bulldog in his owners grasp
Is raised upright as though sainted
and put on view between her legs
it's meaty forelegs spread stiffly wide
as though to show her dog was braced
for contender or for homicide
a steroidal toad, might think some not in the Pit troops
an unnatural creature for delusional dupes.

Just dogs

We shouldn't be surprised when a pit bull engages in pit bull behavior. Nor should we be surprised when a pit bull engages in dog behavior. What we can do, perhaps, is be reminded that because a pit bull behaves simply like a dog does not mean it will never behave like a pit bull. As an example, my Labrador Retriever presented typical dog behaviors, from sniffing other dogs to rolling on his back for a scratch. He also exhibited many Labrador-specific behaviors, from his predictable fetching and his love of water to his soft mouth. Both made him what he was. In a more realistic world, pit bull owners would recognize their dog's possible pit bull-specific behaviors even as they embrace their pet's dog-specific behaviors. Then there'd be no, "He's never done this before, he's always been such a good dog..." (He still is, except now he's shown that he's also good at being a pit bull)

genetics 101: it's all how you breed them

i'm a fan of Morning Call columnist, Paul Carpenter. for the second week in a row now, he has taken on the pit nutter propaganda machine. in this week's column "Dog ferocity is breeding, not training", Paul Carpenter asks "Can you train a pit bull to point?"

"Until somebody shows me pit bulls that have been trained to point, I'll stick to my view that it's breeding, not training, that makes them what they are. And I'll stick to my view that people who decide to buy pit bulls, when they have many breeds from which to choose, do so for reasons other than wanting to have a nice family pet."
Paul Carpenter

one of my mixed breed dogs points. i didn't teach him that, he just started doing it one day around the age of 2. when he is in the point, i can't break the spell. i have him seen hold a point for over 10 minutes. it's pretty impressive. he has a fabulous nose and is faster than lightening. he can catch any mouse, rat, squirrel, rabbit that he sets his mind to, but he won't kill them - no matter how much i encourage him to do so (i have a rat problem). the second the rodent squeals, he releases. but if his quarry is disoriented enough, my slow clumsy malamute mix is right there for the kill. i didn't teach him to do that either.

Carpenter's question prompted me to resurrect an old blog post from last summer.

watch the video again but this time substitute the word POINT with the word FIGHT, substitute the word POINTER with the word FIGHTER and substitute the word HUNTING with the word FIGHTING.
