What's wrong with this picture?

I was going to post this with a no comment heading originally, except I think it's important to point out that every ad campaign has been marketed to death. Here the folks at Purina have invested some serious time and $$$ into this campaign and have thoroughly researched the demographic they hope to reach with this ad. In other words, it ain't just a stereotype.

Remember, REAL DOGS, like the demographically targeted wiggle butt in the picture, EAT MEAT, and not just lick you to death. And our friends at Purina have the research to back it up.

Ockham's Razor

JOHN REYNOLDS

Ockham's Razor is a principal of logic that asserts that the simplest explanation of a phenomenon is most likely the correct one rather than a more complicated explanation.

Logic is perverted on an almost daily basis by the pit bull apologia.

Let's take today for example. The most recent pit bull fatality (read about it at Dogsbite.org) is in rural Missouri, the land of the puppy mill and the dogfighter. John Reynolds found his father lying in the fenced area that contains 17 pit bulls. His father was deceased and had injuries consistent with an animal attack. The simplest, most logical assumption is that he was killed by dogs, not just any dogs, THOSE dogs. Ockham's logic doesn't fly in the world of pit nutters. John Reynolds junior is convinced that the pit bulls did not kill his father and hypothesized that a mountain lion killed his father INSIDE the pit bull enclosure containing 17 pit bulls. He has no explanation as to how and why a mountain lion would enter an enclosure with 17 dogs and then magically disappear or why not a single ONE of the 17 most "courageous, loving, loyal, people pleasing" dogs created by psychopaths would step up and protect their master from harm.

This theory of logic was first attributed to fourteenth century english philosopher William of Ockham, others have embraced it.

"We are to admit no more causes of natural things than such as are both true and sufficient to explain their appearances."
Isaac Newton

"We could still imagine that there is a set of laws that determines events completely for some supernatural being, who could observe the present state of the universe without disturbing it. However, such models of the universe are not of much interest to us mortals. It seems better to employ the principle known as Occam's razor and cut out all the features of the theory which cannot be observed."
Stephen Hawking

"Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler."
Albert Einstein

weekly frankenmauler roundup 10/15/10

10.08.10 hillsboro, oregon a pit bull escaped its yard and attacked two dogs being walked by a hillsboro man and his wife. the man pulled out his legally owned and carried hand gun, fired two rounds and killed the mutant.

10.09.10 internet chatter I recently saw a pit bull getting very aggressive with another dog at the dog park. The owner of the other dog looked for pit bull’s owner for assistance but ended up grabing the pit bull by the collar and hit it in the ribs. I’d take on any dog to protect my dog but my wife says not to get involvede in the fight. Any suggestions?

10.11.10 UK a mutant pit bull savaged a cat.

10.11.10 huber heights, ohio a pit dog killed a schnauzer.

10.11.10 lantana, florida an ugly mutant with a history with the AC, got loose from its house and killed Coki, a 10 lb pomeranian. the little dog's owner was bitten trying to save her dog. 56 yr old Shelly Puritz is waiting to hear if it had current rabies shots. the pit nutter CORY HUSTEN, or COREY HOUSTEN says that it is as "simple as leaving a door open". huh?

10.11.10 internet chatter We have a fenced backyard. On Monday evening, while I was out, a neighboring dog jumped fences to get into my yard. He is a shepherd mix (looks like pit bull). He mauled my dog, a corgi-terrier, to death. My back patio was covered in blood, the collars of both dogs, & my poor sweet dog’s mangled body. We’ve seen the said dog with a choker chain collar like the one we found on our patio…no tags. Our next door neighbors said they saw that dog in their yard the night of the attack. We confronted the owners of the suspect dog &, long story short, they got a deer in the headlights look & shut the door in our face. The police won’t do anything because a person wasn’t involved. Animal Control won’t do anything because we don’t have hard proof – no witnesses. There’s 2 schools about a ¼ mile from my home. It’s my understanding when a dog does this, it will do it again! Nothing I can do will bring back the lifelong friend I had in my pet, but I have to stop this from happening again!

I would never say it looks like a pit bull just b/c it did something violent. I’m not about that. It does, however, seem to resemble some pit features. My neighbors have stated similar opinions.

10.12.10 kanab, utah a VICK dog chewed/busted/dug out (we don't know the particulars yet and we might not ever) through his kennel and killed another dog and attacked another VICK dog.

10.12.10 UK two miscreants held a cat down and allowed their mutant pit bull to maul it.

10.12.10 internet chatter My sister’s cat was killed while she watched. Some people were walking their unleashed pit bull dog down the street. The pit bull ran into my sister’s yard, jumped on the porch, and grabbed her cat’s neck. The dog flung the cat back and forth while the dog owners yelled at him. My sister was in shock and screamed, “MY CAT, MY CAT!” My sister’s husband threw a pan of water on the mean dog, but he continued to kill the cat. The dog’s owers grabbed the dog finally and said they were just baby sitting the dog, that he was not their dog. The peole did not say they were sorry and they offered no help. The people and the dog continued their walk down the street while my sister was sobbing uncontrollably. Aren’t there city laws that punish mean, uncontrolled dogs, and their stupid owners that do not keep them on a leash?

rip Tubs
10.12.10 UK 11 yr old Tubs was killed by a mutant staffy bull in his own yard. the miscreants that are attracted these fighting nannies let their dog off leash and laughed when he charged after the cat and killed it. the ugly mutant let go and left with the couple. Tubs' owner and her 6 yr old son witnessed the assassination. Anyone with information should call 020 8721 2009, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

10.12.10 UK a brindle and white staffy bull mix grabbed a hold of Paul Miller's small terrier named Scamp. Miller was bitten on the hand as he unsuccessfully tried to save his dog and he is suffering flashbacks. the pit nutter is described as a white male between 40-50. 0161 856 5761 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111

10.13.10 UK the owner of an ugly staffy bull watched as his frankenmauler attacked Mutley. Sandra Grace was injured trying to save her dog. neighbors came to her aid and then the pit nutter disappeared. he is described as 25-30 with a grey hoody and jeans. because she was only injured trying to save her dog, the pit nutter can not be charged under the dangerous dog act.

11.14.10 UK a 59 yr old man lost his middle finger to a staffy bull trying to protect his lab from the assassination attempt. the staffy bull is described as tawny brown colored and th epit nutter is 5'11", in his 20's and was wearing hat and sweat pants.

10.14.10 UK a girl was walking her 2 yorkies when a black staffy bull with a white eye patch attacked both dogs. one of them died the next day.

10.14.10 berea, ohio a woman reported that a neighbor's pit mix attacked her chained dog.

10.14.10 las cruces, new mexico two young men have been charged with animal cruelty after shooting a neighbor's 3 dogs for killing chickens and menacing their cat. unfortunately, these guys did not shoot them in the act and have been criminally charged. the dogs are described as a pit mix, boxer mix and golden mix.

Chloe
10.14.10 temple city, california 60 yr old John Wachter was walking Chloe, his 15 yr old retriever mix when first one then two more pit bulls escaped their yard and attacked. both of them were seriously injured. Chloe is recovering after emergency surgery for dozens of wounds. the pit nutter lost the tip of a finger trying to pull his dogs off. what a shame he didn't lose the entire hand. neighbors say the mutants are a problem. they attacked a woman and her dog a year ago. the city AC has turned it over to the county AC.

10.14.10 internet chatter My dog is about to be 1 yr. old next month- she’s spayed & everything… I took her to puppy training which helped me teach her basics and all but she never really got over the aggression part. It all began when we first adopted her and we brought her around my hubby’s cousin’s (2) dogs. They all 3 were playing fine- but I don’t think she liked when they were holding her down to sniff very much, because by the end of the night they started to get serious- well anyways, ever since she snaps at other dogs & already broke about 8 collars. This Tuesday coming up we’re adopting one of those dogs- the male, we are gonna take him to get neuter in the morning & bring him home to stay because the owner can no longer keep him because of lack of space (he’s too big) he’s a 1 yr. old pit bull mix as well- he has lived with 2 other dogs so I’m pretty sure he wont be the issue- is my dog I’m worried about. I have 2 kennels & everything, but what do I do so they can start getting along- will having the other dog make my other dog more aggressive or eventually she’ll get use to him? Any tips or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

10.14.10 germantown, maryland a pit bull puppy and a pit bull adult BROKE THROUGH A WINDOW and attacked a lab being walked by its owner. the nutter got his mutants back from AC and was cited.

10.14.10 oakland county, michigan a woman was walking a small white dog when a mutant pit bull bolted out of the condo and attacked it. the 44 yr old pit nutter ran out to help the victims but the two women were unable to pull the frankenmauler off of Gracie, the little dog. Gracie's owner then hit the pit bull in the head with pliers and he let go. amazingly, Brutus the pit bull was up to date on rabies but the license was expired. Gracie is expected to survive. pliers? i'm thinking a tool belt with a hammer, screwdriver, pliers and maybe a box cutter is the way to go for people who can't or don't to carry a gun. screw the pepper spray.

10.15.10 corpus christi, texas police responded to a mutant pit bull that trapped a family in their car. at the moment the cop called ugly to him, a man and his dog appeared. of course the loyal wiggle butt in a genetic effort to please, attacked the dog. when the cop used pepper spray on the mutant, it turned his attention and teeth on the cop who gave it a much needed dirt nap. neighbors don't know owns it but they said it has been attacking dogs.

rip Jet
10.15.10 BC Canada a pit nutter said his mutant was friendly. when the 6 month old puppy approached, the loyal mutant's people pleaser gene turned on and he latched onto the pup. both men and a neighbor with a bat couldn't get the dog to release. they tried pepper spray and mace. the dogs were eventually separated. the 6 month old puppy was later euthanized. the police are looking into it. second link

UPDATES

fort pierce, florida a wrongful death suit has been filed against HARVEY and JANE CULTER. in february 2009, the CUTLER'S pit bull was unleashed and attacked Robert Klatch's shih tzu. Klatch was thrown from his golf cart as he tried to save his dog. Klatch suffered serious injuries and died 2 months later.

xenia, ohio the pit nutter ANTHONY HILL whose two mutant pit bulls broke through an exterior wall and attacked a woman trying to get to her chihuahua has been charged and the dog that wasn't shot by police that night has been euthanized. HILL has been charged with 2 counts each of failure to control a vicious dog, failure to insure and failure to register. see also 9.17.10 frankenmauler roundup.

missoula, montana KEEGAN SETH GINTHER pled guilty to allowing his 13 yr old mutant off leash to play with other dogs at a montana campground. his negligence resulted in the attack on a sleeping german shepherd and a 59 yr old man. GINTHER said his 13 yr old dog had been playing with other dogs, so he let him off the leash. WOW! THIRTEEN years old before his first documented berserking. the judge ordered GINTHER to keep his frankenmauler in his control at all times. GINTHER will be sentenced later.

DIRTNAP DUGG O'CONNOR
shrewsbury, massachusetts in a 4-0 vote, the selectmen ordered the mutant to be HUMANELY euthanized. the purple needle will do what the wrench, garden clippers and mere human hands couldn't --- STOP the frankenmauler. apparently DUGG'S owners CHRIS and LISA O'CONNOR'S home was broken into and people were threatening to picket their home if the mutant returned. “We never wanted to be bad neighbors. I wish they’d just come to us. We didn’t know they felt this way until tonight.” LISA O'CONNOR. the O'CONNORS are dissapointed in the death sentence. they hoped that DUGG would be shuttled into a sanctuary in florida by the name of B.U.D.D.I.E.S. in the hope springs eternal notion that he would be rehabbed.

Prior to owning Dugg, the O’Connors had another pit bull named Steve, which scratched a mail carrier’s arm and allegedly came close to having a fight with a neighbor’s dog who had come onto the O’Connor’s property. These incidents dated back to 2005 and Animal Control Officer Leona Pease had no reports on record.

The Pit Bull Rescuer's Code of Ethics

You didn't know pit bull rescuers had heard of ethics? Me Either!

The PBRCE is the credo of the "Pit Bull Rescue Alliance." Unfortunately I don't find much about this group, because the website no longer exists. It seems the whole ethics thing hasn't gotten much traction in the pit bull rescue community. There WAS a copy of the Code of Ethics at New Hope Pit Bull Rescue's website. New Hope is in South Carolina, and though the Code of Ethics tacitly acknowledges that temperament is inherited and early environment is important, they adopt out fighting dogs almost exclusively. The Code of Ethics seems to be their baby, but has several authors including Donna Reynolds of BAD RAP and Mary Harwelik of The REAL Pit Bull, Inc. This was back along time ago, when Donna and Mary were still friends in March, 2009.
I actually found a couple versions of the PBRCE. And one is a "work in progress" version with explanatory notes in which I read with breathless wonder - the admission that it's NOT just how you raise them!

"Many people still live under the guise (sic) that puppies are the way to go because "it is ALL in how you raise them!" Hmm...well not totally. Seasoned rescuers and breed fanciers have seen time and again dogs that were socialized extensively with other animals from a pup, only for that pup to mature into a dog who can no longer tolerate other animals, even those they have grown up with. What this means for groups who rescue many more puppies than adults is this, a higher likelihood of returns between the ages of 18 and 36 months."

The authors are nutters after all, so they don't bother to acknowledge that pit bulls that were carefully trained and raised in loving family homes also can berserk and attack neighborhood children.
Another item discusses an issue I was not aware rescue angels were concerned about - they consider pit bull mixes more dangerous that pits. The authors note that adding a guard dog type dog's inherited wariness of strangers to the genes of a proactive killer is REALLY BAD! It seems that mixing pit bulls with other dogs doesn't dilute the killer genes, it just gives the resulting dog more reasons to use them.

C. Rescuing pit bulls mixed with guarding breeds is strongly discouraged. Extra caution and care should be taken when selecting and placing those dogs that are mixed with guard dog breeds including but not limited to Neapolitan Mastiffs, Dogue de Bourdeaux, Fila Brasileiro, Presa Canario, Cane Corso, Rottweilers, German Shepherds and others. Since the temperament of the pit bull is very different than the temperament of breeds in the guardian category, such mixes can create unique handling and placement challenges, and should be considered candidates for experienced homes only.

Consider that molosserdogs.com asserts "(t)he present-day Cane Corso exists in decent numbers, but because of reckless breeding and crosses with some bull-breeds, it is getting difficult to find a true representative of the breed."

The Pit Bull Rescuer's Code of Ethics is less that two years old, but it is already archaic. The pit bull propaganda machine has totally given up the "pit bulls are different" thing and the ethics thing, too, for that matter. Between March 2009 and June 2009, Donna decided that truth and ethics were passe. (You'll notice that the BAD RAP ethics page is a page first intended to be copied as a handout, but then later removed) She suddenly decided that pit bulls were no more dog aggressive than any other breed of dog. Well, that's funny because true dog aggression, ie aggression towards another dog simply because it is a dog, is a trait unique to pit bulls. That's their genetic heritage.

Anyhow, Donna reveals her sudden new "belief" here in her blog. The post is very weird. Somehow, people are able to socialize all other kinds of dogs better than they can pit bulls and that is the why pit bulls kill dogs - not genetics. By her convoluted logic, if puppy millers pump out thousands of non-pit bull dogs that don't rip through cages and kill each other, it is because they're so good at socializing them.

When Donna came out with her new "belief," she really freaked a lot of nutters out! You can read on pit bull forum where the nutters react with confusion and anger, wondering how pit bulls are going to do in the hands of oblivious adopter who trot them home in the belief that they're just like labs.

Harwelik retorts,
so now its the dogs are not dog aggressive genetically? which is it? is the pit bull breed dog aggressive by genetics or are we humans to blame?? i find it hard to blame humans all the time, yes sometimes they are to blame for allowing a dog to have no rules.. however, genetics is genetics and you can only manage genetics."
Wow, more truth.

Sadly, truth, rationality, and ethics, have been replaced by positioning, tactics and politics. The Animal Farm Foundation adopted the motto "Different is Deadly" to convey their new strategy to avoid BSL. Here is what can be found on the AFF facebook page:
When it comes to the dogs we all love and strive to care for, DIFFERENT IS DEADLY. We cannot have it both ways. If advocates support mandatory spay/neuter laws against dogs visually identified as pit bulls, it makes the dogs different from other kinds of dogs. If pit bulls really are different from other dogs, we should expect them to be legislated against differently. We cannot have it both ways.
Notice the careful statement "visually identified as pit bulls." They technically and politically don't acknowlege that pit bulls exist all the while advocating for them! Rather than respecting pit bulls and advocating strong stewardship of pit bull, they lie and maneuver and gleefully advocate putting fighting pits in people's homes. Ethics are so very passé in 2010.

Denzel scores a vicktory

May 22, 2009 : From trainer Ann Allums' journal:

Denzel arrived at Best Friends very sick. I still remember his pale gums and lethargic behavior. After months of testing and treating, Denzel was diagnosed with babesia. All of the caregivers, trainers, and veterinarians have since learned a lot about the disease, what kind of vets have they hired? but at the time, we had never heard of it. Because Denzel was sick for so long, he spent a lot of time inside with the caregivers and trainers getting loved on (which he enjoyed), and getting poked and prodded by the vet techs and vets (which he endured like a trooper but did not enjoy). he was fantasizing about what he was going to do his neighbors once he was feeling better.

When Denzel was feeling better, his training regimen began. That’s when we discovered how intelligent he was! smart enough to frame another dog for murder apparently He was the only Vicktory dog who arrived already knowing how to sit on cue and walk on leash. He quickly picked up other basic behaviors, like down, wait, stay, and come.

He was so fun to work with that next I taught him how to target objects (i.e. touch them with his nose or paw). I started by having him target one of his toys. Then I introduced other objects, taught him a name for each object, and challenged Denzel to target a particular object among a group of objects. Denzel loved the training process, loved being able to exercise his brain!

Denzel is the first dog that I taught how to wave. Since he is not allowed to interact with volunteers, why not? I figured he could at least charm them by giving them a paw wave! We caught his wave on video and used it as an ending of a short movie that we showed at the 2008 No More Homeless Pets Conference in Las Vegas!

Denzel is always willing to try something new, like riding on a skateboard (our next goal!). or chewing through kennels. Several other caregivers interact with and work with Denzel on training. I hear he recently learned how to turn off a light switch, so his abilities never cease to wow us!

He is close to earning his Canine Good Citizen certification, (oh yay, another kid tested, mother approved, vetted fighting dog) if we can just get him to learn that he can’t say hi to every person he sees! While Denzel cannot live with other dogs, he has learned to exercise basic manners around other dogs. Yet he still loves to run the fence with other dogs. That is why he spends several hours a day sleeping on the doggy bed in the kitchen area, just so he can rest. This is an exciting place for many dogs.

We found out that Denzel practically inhales his food, so to slow down his feeding time, we scatter his food all over the floor so that he has to eat one kibble at a time! Or we feed him in a Kong or Buster Cube! Denzel loves working for his food!

I think Denzel will do great in a single-dog home where he can sleep on the couch for a few hours, go on long walks, and snuggle with his people! how about a single dog neighborhood?

Best Friends' Dogtown, living up to its reputation as Above Ground Cemetary

looks like the VICKTORY dogs got into a scuffle saturday night. nothing major, mind you. just a scuffle. one dog died and two were injured. the celebrities survived and that's all that matters.

the "official" story goes like this: BEANS, an adoptable pit bull at dogtown SOMEHOW escaped his containment and SOMEHOW broke into VICKTORY TUG'S containment who in turn SOMEHOW broke into VICKTORY DENZEL'S containment and "a fight ensued." when the rescue angels showed up for work sunday morning, BEANS, the adoptable cur was dead and the VICKTORY dogs were needing medical attention. the BEST FRIENDS nutter FAITH MALONEY is relieved that their cash cows, i mean that the VICTORY dogs will make a full recovery, while she makes NO mention of BEANS' name or identity in the blog post. BEANS is simply referred to as "one of the dogs". i love it when the nutters are honest. BEST FRIENDS is placing the blame on BEANS' prey drive towards deer. they are speculating that the site of deer pushed the loyal people pleasin' frankenmauler into berserking mode.

and the comments are just freaking awesome. some are actually suggesting that people who do not like BEST FRIENDS deliberately released the dogs to sabotage their work. i don't think there is enough B12 in the entire universe to fix them.

BEANS, the low ranking plebeian cur dog who doesn't even deserve to be named.

Beans really wants to be your friend --- really!

But you may not realize it at first. Beans loves it when people are willing to spend time with him and pet him, but it's hard for him to show his appreciation. We think he may have had bad experiences with people and when interacting with other dogs, because he tends to warn them away. (In fact, he'd like an experienced doggie handler because when you're out walking, he doesn't like bumping into horses, deer, rabbits, cats -- any of those things!)

But Beans is very obedient and loves to learn. He can sit, lie down, walk on a lead and he enjoys a good game of fetch. Beans wants to learn more tricks and recently has been trying agility training and is pretty good at it. He wants someone to take him into a forever home and give him the time he needs to know he's safe and loved. Is that too much to ask?

VICKTORY DENZEL

Denzel How did this boy get so happy? When 22 dogs arrived at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary after they were rescued from the property of former NFL quarterback, Michael Vick, most of them were pretty scared and traumatized. But one of them - Denzel - seemed like he had somehow come out of the dog fighting ring fairly unscathed. He was so sociable and friendly! But he hadn't come out unscathed at all. Denzel turned out to be deathly ill.

VICKTORY TUG

Tug gets his name because that's his favorite thing to do -- pull hard! He's a very strong boy, and Best Friends caregivers are trying to think up lots of creative ways to help him channel that energy.

Tug is one of the 22 dogs who came to Best Friends from the estate of former NFL quarterback, Michael Vick after he was arrested and charged with "conspiracy to engage in dog fighting in violation of the animal welfare act." He may have been a fighting dog, but when Tug arrived at the sanctuary, he didn't want to hurt anybody; he just didn't want anybody to hurt him. He's still afraid of loud noises and camera flashes. (But we thank him for letting us take his picture! We know it was scary.)

Caregivers are working round the clock with him to help him feel comfortable, and to help him channel all that athletic energy. They take him for walks with an "easy walk harness" that keeps him from pulling them down the road in excitement. And they're looking into a scooter wagon so he can actually pull his caregivers on rides! They think he'll like that.

Tug has a lot of healing left to do. Please be his sponsor and cheer him on from afar. It's you that makes his new life at the sanctuary possible.

UPDATE the best of friends, worst of friends blogger is reporting that BEANS was killed in HIS kennel. it appears that these sickos will say and do anything to preserve the image of the VICK dogs. take a moment to poke around the blog. this muckraker appears to be completely dedicated to exposing the utah cult. good job.

Diane Jessup: grande dame of pit pundits

the pitbullguru paid a visit to my little blog and left a link to his 13 minute documentary in praise of wiggle butts. i encourage everyone to watch it. it features DIANE JESSUP and JANE BERKEY. what a treat! i know many of you have been unable to finish the pit bull propaganda videos that i post here. if it helps, think of the Pit Bull Hoax as a lost episode of Gilligan's Island.

Gilligan Jane Berkey

The Skipper Diane Jessup

The Professor Dr Nicholas Dodman

Mary Anne Drayton Michaels

Ginger Jean Donaldson

Mr Howell Ian Dunbar

Mrs Howell was tragically killed by a falling coconut.

DIANE JESSUP enjoys an unusually comfortable position as pit bull "expert". JESSUP is universally admired by all pit bull owners (except the game-dogger demographic). she has written books, trained sniffer dogs for the police, worked as an animal control officer and unlike her good friend KRIS CRAWFORD, she is not a deranged felon. Diane is in a unique position to lie and exaggerate with absolute authority. it seems no one ever questions her integrity or "expertise", until now.

let's take a closer look at DRAYTON MICHAELS' exaggerations first. this documentary, as best that i can tell, is at least one year old.

DRAYTON MICHAELS says: "DIANE has been working with pit bull dogs for over 30 years."

DRAYTON adds a minimum of 6 awe inspiring years to her resume, twice the number of years he has been a dog trainer.

DRAYTON MICHAELS says: "She has authored many books on pit bulldogs."

amazon.com says: Jessup has authored three books, actually two books. i am not sure that a novel about a talking pit bull counts as anything other than bathroom reading material.

DRAYTON redefines 'many' to further inspire the gullible masses.

DRAYTON MICHAELS says: "She is also a former animal control officer of 20 years."

(Jessup adding her 2¢ to the war on Tom Skeldon)

(this is JESSUP helping someone continue to violate animal law in tacoma. this is her "expert" response to a woman who has been cited for dog at large and told by animal control that she is over the legal limit with 6 dogs and 4 cats and she has to get rid of some.)

i can't really fault DRAYTON here, i doubt that he follows JESSUP as closely as i do.

as you saw above, pit bull advocates have two personas. the one they share with the public and the one they share with each another.

here's my favorite "just between you, me and the fence post" pit nutter comment. this is the pit bull expert DIANE JESSUP on the ATTS:
(woops, looks like that link has been killed. not to worry.)
click to view it at 100%.

what is really pathetic about this comment is not just that she knows these scores are skewed and she encourages people to skew them even further (ie CHEAT) but with her knowledge of dogs, particularly in the protection sports, she KNOWS that it is unfair to compare the ATTS scores of pit bulls, german shepherds, malinois, dobies and rottweilers to the ATTS scores of border collies, labs, dachshunds, cockers and chihuahuas. it's apples to oranges, plain and simple.

DIANE JESSUP states publicly that she admires pit bulls for their loyalty, stability, sensitivity, eager to please, never say die attitude but then names them:
Crazy Kate, Dread, Grim, Maulie, Bad, Freakshow, Amp, and Hellboy. she gets a vanity plate for her van that says "1BADPIT", has a "nocurs@comcast.net" email address and promotes insulting t-shirts like this
two faces.
