Boycott Bluff City Tours in Godfrey, Illinois

"he's Norman Bates, he just uses a dog to slash women, instead of a knife!"

50 year old GREG GELZINNIS and his 73 year old mother and business partner PATRICIA GELZINNIS own a pit bull named PRECIOUS and she just scored her third human mauling (that we know of). PRECIOUS also mauled at least one dog. one of her human victims was mauled as she walked through the door of BLUFF CITY TOURS and another was mauled while jogging. the GELZINNISES can not or will not control their frankenmauler and the state of illinois claims that there is nothing they can do, so... the only thing left to do is pull a changedotorg and call for a boycott.

put the lotion in the basket and read all about PRECIOUS the pit bull at pit bull attacks and dog fighting in illinois. and be sure to check out ANIMAL UNCONTROL.

Some of your best photoshop work ever! That collage perfectly captures what's happening in Godfrey!

He took the dog to his business, giving it access to customers AFTER it seriously mauled a dog. Unbelievable.

And apparently, no elected official in the entire town of Godfrey thought to actually read Illinois dog law or thought they were bound to protect their citizens. Insane.

thanks snack. i had fun with this fucktard. soooo many possibilities. some of these stories write themselves. this was one of them.

the city of godfrey needs to follow in the footsteps of skidmore, mo.

Good Lord! What kind of miscreant brings a vicious dog to the workplace? What kind of miscreant wants to keep a vicious dog that attacks their customers? Pit nutters, that's who! Yeesh. Darn that media -- giving poor little Precious a bad rap! I'd like to give that beast a bad rap.... with a pitchfork!

This man should face criminal charges.....he KNOWINGLY exposed the public to a dog he KNEW was dangerous, multiple times. He didn't even put a muzzle on the dog to walk it, KNOWING its history of unprovked attacks.

This man should do jail time for assault.....this dog is a weapon, and this sadistic individual is using this dog to slash innocent women, and he is getting away with it. If he was walking around with a knife, and stabbing women and domestic animals, he would be in prison. But because he is using a dog, he is getting away with it.

You really have to wonder how sick this man is, and the level of contempt for people he has, to continue to allow his dog to viciously attack innocent people, and not IMMEDIATELY surrender the dog to be put down. To watch his dog bite off a "chunk of flesh" from this teenage girl, drag her to the ground and try to kill her...her blood is all over the freaking sidewalk in the video....and he wants the dog back?

I hope the girls father is talking to a lawyer about a civil suit, at a minimum. The girl will have a significant scar for the rest of her life. This was no accident, this was depraved indifference on the part of the dog owner.

Opalina said...

Amen, Branwyne! Amen! Perfect example of a nutter. And note he is NOT a thug from the hood.

scurrilous amateur blogger said...

i also have to wonder how sick a government is that does not seize and kill this frankenmauler. oh, wait. it's ledy's fucking state!

the only recourse appears to a civil suit, boycott and public shaming. and while i am at it, wtf is with the parents' of this kid? this fucktard is either borderline retarded or borderline psychopathic. either way he has no business being around kids.

You want to read something that'll totally blow your minds, read the comments section on the KSDK news clip: http://www.ksdk.com/comments/322119/3/Godfrey-pit-bull-only-quarantined-after-3-confirmed-attacks

There is one particular idiot in the comments section that I think is worthy of another blog post(s) all on his own. Can you figure out which one he is?

This situation is EXACTLY what I keep going on and on about. Vicious dog owners are protected and they KNOW it. The gun comments are priceless! I actually agree with the guy: "Sic'ing" a dog on someone IS legal, but firing a gun in close proximity is NOT because the PIT BULL and PIT NUTTER in question have legal immunity!

This is exactly the kind of thing that turns the indifferent into activists and activists into radicals. KEEP IT UP PIT NUTTERS YOUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED.

Best comment on the whole thread!

"This is an unfortunate accident, but it could have been any breed of dog. I agree that owners of dogs have a responsibility to train and maintain control of a dog on a leash. However, I also believe that runners and cyclist need have a responsibility for their own safety when they approach a person walking a dog."

Yup, dangerous dogs and their owners OWN the sidewalk! If you don't want to get bit (translation: ripped to shreds) STAY THE HELL HOME!

After all, its the price we have to pay for civilization, right? right?

scurrilous amateur blogger said...

yes, they do own the fucking sidewalks!

Dawn,

Just looked at this from Lucky Dog Animal Rescue:

http://www.luckydoganimalrescue.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs

Name: Edie
Breed: Dalmatian/ Lab Mix

Approximate Age: approximately 2 - 3 years

Approximate Weight: 60 lbs

"She does love to have the spot light on her, so she shouldn't be in a house with small kids. She is picky about her K9 play partners as well so we would recommend that she is an only dog. She can't wait to meet her forever active, dog experienced family!"

More proof that pit nutters can't or won't identify their own breed of dogs.

How many think this dog is at least 1/2 pit? Any funding they get should be pulled.

Disgusting.

there's a lot of mislabeling going on at lucky dog!

AURA, BAMA, BEAU, BRODY, BRYSON, CHASE, CINDERELLA, MARCEL, MAXINE, MISSY, MR MCGEE, PAULY, PHILLY, WESLEY all look like pit mixes to me.

Anonymous said...

Is Lucky Dog rescue the one run by the staffer at Sen Menendez's office? The one who wqas run out of Sem Kerry'd office for some kind of misbehavior?

Sweetie Pie said...

The Lucky Dog labelling is so absurd I had to laugh despite myself. They must be the only shelter in the US with only a single pit bull! They sure do have some funny looking shepherds, pointers, border collies and great Danes, though.

I have a feeling pushing so many pits as 'Labs' is maybe an effort to make their 'Labs bite the most' into reality?

S.K.Y. said...

Sweetie Pie, love your comment about making "Labs bite the most" into reality.

Lucky Dog actually lists one dog as a Pit Bull mix, as you noted. There's another one that is so obviously a white purebred pit listed as a "Bull Terrier" mix. Ummmm, there is nothing whatsoever to suggest Bull Terrier there--like a Roman nose, upright ears, etc. Just pure Pit Bull.

Unfortunately, the adopting public is sooooooo stupid that they won't even think to question these labels. I know, because I volunteered a day a week for years at an open-admission shelter (which euthanized every Pit that came in--yay!). Virtually every adopter, no matter how educated, chose the dog that was the size the wanted plus was white with brown spots. That's it. Even if the dog was barking its head off, cold and unenthusiastic about people, dragged them everywhere on leash, jumped on their kids and knocked them down... Nobody would consider dogs that I recommended as being perfect for their families (I'm a former full-time dog behaviorist and have > 60 titles in dog sports). For instance, a friendly, well-behaved, non-pulling, people-friendly, dog-friendly, medium-sized, low-shedding black dog would never get another look as long as there was a white dog with brown patches somewhere in the shelter...

The new city I'm moving to is a super liberal, highly educated city... and the main shelter is turning into a Maggie's Fund no-kill shelter. They already adopted out Pits, and now they'll even be adopting out ones with known aggression issues. At least they call them Pits on their website, and offer special training programs for people who adopt them. But I'm definitely not going to volunteer there or donate money while they're pushing Pits. Instead, I'm volunteering for a sister shelter that does wildlife rehab...

Here's another way to subvert the pit nutters: Sabotage their signs.

You've probably seen those "pit pups for sale" signs on telephone poles and light posts in your town. Why not paste "Pit Bulls Kill!" stickers over the nutter contact information? It's easy to make such stickers on your home computer.

Or do what I did yesterday, tear the contact info off the sign and dispose it in a nearby trash can.

Ahhhh, sabotage.

Just an FYI....several news stories about this attack have either deleted Facebook comments or stopped accepting comments. A poster representing Hope Animal Rescues has been blaming the victim of the attack for jogging past the dog and "startling" her in this news articles.

http://www.thetelegraph.com/news/dog-71094-hall-county.html

I have read comments under several different news outlets, and some of the pit owners and rescuers have been attacking the family of the victim, and blaming them for "making a big deal out of this", and are insisting that the dog not be euthanized. This is generally how it starts...a misanthropic pit bull advocate and "dog rescuer" incites her Facebook followers to harass a dog bite victim and her family.

I hope the Vest family retains a good lawyer, and seeks some legal advice on how to deal with harrassment from the lunatic fringe of the animal welfare movement....pit bull owners, rescuers, and advocates.

Latest pit bull story from 5 minutes ago....

Pit bull walked by a rescue angel latched onto a small mutt being walked by a 12 year old girl. I hear screaming. The rescue angel is screaming her dogs name. The little girl has been bitten and her dog's ear is being torn off. I punched the pit bull in the head hard enough to nearly break my hand. It did nothing. I remembered my pepper spray in my back pocket. Empty 1/4 can in pit bulls face. Pit bull dislodges and then returns to fight. I spray again. It lets go and a good samaritan grabs the pit. Cops and ambulance are now down the street. I might have to talk to them.

DubV said...

I had a knife, and was about to use it.

Packhorse said...

Ah yes, the famous "Boxer mix." And for some variety, there's the lab/boxer mix, and the lab/mastiff mix. Let's hop none of these "labs" and "boxers" get adopted out with the shelter's cats...

scurrilous amateur blogger said...

Dubv,
i'd love to get video of the rescue angel screaming.
and i hope no pepper spray got on you or the dog.

keep me posted on the mutant's outcome.

branwyne, your comments finally appeared and my comment is back.

Update after talking to police:

The pit broke its harness and ran to attack the other dog. The little girl wasn't bitten. Her mother said that she had. The officer said it was an allergic reaction maybe from over spray or stress or having a few dogs against her legs, he said the girl had a lot of allergies, etc. The redness looked like a bite or something to the panicked mom.

Pamela Moore said...

The Godfrey Frankenmauler - I was the first victim. On August 10, 2009 I walked into Bluff City Tours to speak with Greg Gelzinnis, when his mother Pat started screaming "get out, get out" the dog is in here...too late. Before I could step back out of the door, the dog knocked me down and began to rip my left arm into shreds...it lit into my left arm twice, then jumped on my back and went for the back of my head...when Pat finally got this dog leashed, she pulled it off my head. She wanted to drive me home afterwards, I looked at my arm and said NO, I will drive myself to the ER. At that time, her son Greg said I'll drive her, mom you take Pam's kids home...

I later asked Greg why did you not come out and help me...his comment "There was no sense for both of us to get bit."

Unbelievable that this took place...I begged Greg after the dogs 10 day confinement with Animal Control not to take the dog home...but his mother was on her way to pick the dog up. He told me they would not have the dog put down - it was just the "Nature of the Beast"... At that moment I lost all respect for Greg and his mother. They valued an animal over a human life. Freaks I tell you, just freaks.

Pamela, nothing much is a surprise from pitters, but your story is an eye opener. Holy cow, how do these folks stay in business?

scurrilous amateur blogger said...

pamela, i wish these freaks were a rarity. they continually put the rest of us at risk and even though they demonstrate they are afraid of their own dog, they not only KEEP these ugly things, they spend thousands of dollars and tie up our courts in order to do so!

and the fact that this idiot mother wanted to drive you HOME and not an ER....OMG!

i am curious, did the gelzinnis' cover your medical bills? did they try to blame you for the attack (like you snuck up on her or they told you not to come in)? did they try to deny that precious attacked you? did they try to make excuses for precious (she was just at the vet, blah blah blah)?

Branwyne Finch said...

Dubv...are you OK? How is your hand? As a parent, I thank you for having the courage and decency to intervene in this attack. Had you not, its possible the girl could have sustained serious injuries. You undoubtedly saved her little dogs life.

For this, yopu are a hero.

Branwyne Finch said...

Pamela....what a horrific and frightening story. The Gelzinnis sound like sociopaths. Sadly, I think their lack of empathy is typical of many pit bull owners. There are at least three studies that show that owners of dangerous breeds are more likely to have anti-social attitudes; pit bull ownership is considered a "marker" for deviant behavior.

Did I read your post correctly, were your children present at this attack?

DubV said...

Thanks for the kind words Bran. My hand is still a bit sore as I'd made contact with some of the smaller knuckles, but I'll be fine.

Rumpelstiltskin said...

I believe the lack of empathy goes beyond just avoiding litigation and justice.

Pit nutters truly believe victims "did something" to provoke a pit bull attack. Then there's the ones who justify every lie they knowingly make or contribute to because "it's for the dogs". Pit nutter ignorance has no boundaries.

Pamela Moore said...

I was involved with Greg Gelzinnis from March 2007 until Sept/Oct 2009...

The dog attack was just one of the eye openers of this man. It was his whole narcissistic arrogance attitude after this happened that really opened my eyes.

Okay, to start answering your questions:
Sociopaths would be a very good way to describe them. Of course they said they were sorry, but just words - no actions.

Yes, my children wanted to get out and go in to see Greg at Bluff City Tours that day...we needed to go on to Alton Middle School for registration, so I made them stay in the van as I went to tell Greg I would not be joining him that evening at an event. THANK YOU GOD, I DID - or the story would have had a different turn. My oldest son at the time was 11 y/o was sitting in the front seat of the van and witnessed the whole thing.

Empathy is a feeling you have for someone/something as a reaction to a situation - but when you lack feelings, there can be no empathy.

Even though I live in MO now, I will stay on top of this story/this animal until Justice is served...I had a wonderful conversation with a Lt. with the Madison Co. Sheriff's Office today. The first 2 attacks were never reported to the Sheriff's Office and I found out that Greg Gelzinnis falsified the Dog Bite Report - He filled it out, while I was in triage that afternoon. He claimed it happened at their business and that I was a co-worker...I NEVER worked for
Bluff City Tours, NEVER. He wrote it up as if work related. UNBELIEVABLE!!

Rumpelstiltskin said...

Pamela,

Goes to show, never trust a pit nutter. I think the sheriff may have a few questions for him.

Hopefully they'll haul him off like the criminal he is. He's falsified police records and managed to hide other attacks by his pit bull.

I saw a New York animal shelter advertising "Lab Mix" dogs and when you see the photo, they are PIT BULL DOGS or a close mix. It's either for "adaptability", legal reasons, or both. If they register the dog as a "Lab Mix", if it bites someone, it will be on the record as a "Lab Mix", not a PIT BULL DOG.

The cover up goes much deeper.

Miss Margo said...

Pamela:

Scary story and you have my sympathy. If I had to fight legal battles with Gelzinnis for a year and a half, I think it would probably take a decade off my life. I'd be tempted to shoot him and go to prison myself.

What an asshole.

DubV: I am glad you are okay. Sorry I'm late commenting.

Packhorse said...

The sad thing is, people who take the shelter's word at face value and think they're adopting a Lab...and expect their new pet to behave like a Lab. Obviously there's a great bit of difference in personality between a Labrador and a pit bull!

Branwyne Finch said...

Oh, Pamela...as a mother of a middle school student, I got chills reading that. I can't imagine how many sleepless nights you had thinking about what may have happened if your son got out of that van.

Thank you for getting involved in this and giving your information to investigators. You may have saved someones life by doing so. The dangerous dog lobby wants to protect dogs like Precious, and the breeders who create them. Its very easy for people like the Gelzinnis to get a dangerous pit bull...rescues are promoting pit bulls, and adopting out pits with known aggression problems, bybers are pumping out litters, (with many selecting for aggressive temperaments, or at least not breeding away from it). While it is possoble that another breed of dog could have bitten you, very few breeds beyond pit bulls would have instigated such a severe sustained, and potentially fatal mauling with no provocation.

Perhaps you will be able to find some vindication now that this has gone public; I think the Glezinnis deserve a public shaming, and to lose their business. I can't imagine anyone would want to do business with people so immoral and dishonest. I certainly would never get into a vehicle owned by people who have a total disregard for human life!

Rumpelstiltskin said...

Branwyne,

It's still very popular for pit breeders to breed for dog aggression. They don't openly admit to breed for human aggression, I think human aggression is just a "side benefit" and is just the nature of the beast.

Disgusting.

DubV said...

A female neighbor with a child talked to me today about the recent dog attack in the neighborhood. Oddly, she is a vet tech, but dislikes pits. She is honest and perceptive enough to realize that most dogs brought in to where she works after an attack have been injured by pits. She told a story of a pit bull down the street that I did not know of, either the dog or the incident. A pit bull climbed someone's fence, attacked their dogs, then followed them in the house and attacked the human occupants. The offending pit was not dirt napped, probably a one strike thing.

wow, it's crazy right now in your world.
