"Glory and Gore" by HORDE

There's a growling in the restless summer air
And we're slipping off the chains that they prepared
But in our chaos, there is calculation
Gripping their limbs just to hear them break
You've been thinking our history was gonna end (it didn't)
Took a beating from the jaws of your best friend (go figure)
It's clear that someone's gotta go
We mean it, but you promise we're not mean.

And the cry goes out
They lose their minds for us, and now it plays out
Now we're in the ring and we're coming for blood

You could try and take us
But we're the gladiators
Every one a rager
Yet people are our saviors
Glory and gore go hand in hand
That's why we're making headlines
You could try and take us
But violence is contagious

Doggie-like in every way but one
God knows we like archaic kinds of fun
Bloodsport the only game I play with, baby
We let our battles choose us

And the cry goes out
They lose their minds for us and now it plays out
Now we're in the ring and we're coming for blood

CHORUS

Owners ‘round here good at keeping their eyes closed
My tail's starting to wag quick when we're walking home
Tired little lines, gold lie promises,
We'll always win at this.
I don't shy from dealing out death
It's alright if I do, it's fine.
We gladiate but I guess we're really fighting ourselves
Roughing up our minds so we're ready when the kill time comes.
Wide awake in bed, words in my brain,
"Secretly you love this, do you even know my genes?"
Let me in the ring, I'll show you what that “pit” word means

you will not find this horrendous pit bull attack reported in the media.

01/22/14 Ardmore - Since I've been posting vicious dog attacks in my newsletter (I started in 2001), today I learned about a beautiful pony that was attacked by a pit bull just outside Ardmore. The owner had just dropped off this most adorable pony with its new owner. The original owner had not even got home before the new owner called to say the pony had been attacked by her neighbor's pit bull. This first photo shows the pony BEFORE the attack today.

BEFORE

AFTER

THIS is why we need BSL.

Was the pony put down or is it going to recover? How long will America continue to allow happy tail wagging wigglebutts to do this so morons can crow about their precious pibbles?

Poor pony. :(

Don't let this pony's suffering be in vain. Share this information far and wide with "animal lovers" who buy into the nutter lies.

Pit nutters will say the pony and its owner was not educated about pit bulls.

I say they just got educated about pit bull the hard way.

Revolting. Another innocent animal hurt by a pit bull. Let's all look the other way, and believe the filthy lies. Pretend this didn't happen.

And nutters wonder why we want this stopped.

New betting game: Take your shit bulls to someone's stables and sic them on the horses. Better than a mere dogfight. Warning, also graphic photos:

Many livestock owners won't hesitate to shoot dogs so I hope the game becomes whack-a-bulldog.
That poor pony upsets me greatly. My horses are taught to stomp stray dogs, but that little pony was too small to fight them off.

I wasn't prepared for that vulgarity! And I've seen tons of these photos!

Oh my god, Sputnik! That's disgusting!

How I wish I did not see that. That poor pony. I'm crying. I hope I can do something to get rid of that image, help me please.

God, help us stop this. Please.

Pit bull advocacy is responsible for this!

This is up there with the Alpaca massacre. God I am sorry for the little pony.

I hate to see the bone in its face. What other creature GOES FOR THE FACE like that except nasty pit bulls?

It's fucking grotesque, like something from hell.

P.S. Sorry I've been away. Busy with new job and some crap in my personal life. I am back to spread the blame and hang with this awesome commentariat. xoxo

poor dear thing. Immediately at its' new home and this is the lovely welcoming present it gets.

I know many pit bull owners; the meaner the dog, you can bet the more envious the owners.

I don't mean to make it sound like I am blaming the victim, BUT many horse people don't realize that if you want to "play farmer" with livestock, possession of a rifle AND the skills and willingness to use it are an absolute must. NOT a nice to have nor optional in any way, but a MUST. It should be at least .243 caliber and semi-automatic is preferable.

Real farmers in my state shoot ALL off leash dogs on their property... its called "varminting" and they do not give the mutt a chance to molest their animals.

Note that while not so horrific, I have seen many cases where a dog will chase a horse/cow/etc... until it either fatally injures itself or drops from exhaustion. ANY loose dog is a threat to livestock.

I've seen SO many stories of livestock and pet horses being mauled and killed I've been wondering why rural Americans don't have shotguns/rifles anymore. They USED to know better.

To quote George Orwell...

"All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others".

It seems that "animal welfare" organizations and "humane" organizations have decided that pit bulls deserve more rights and protections than the animals they frequently kill. None will shed a tear for that pony.

I'm sorry Animal Uncontrol, et al, but REAL FARMERS often HAVE TO WORK off the property to PAY THE BILLS leaving THE LIVESTOCK TO FEND FOR THEMSELVES DURING THE DAY!

Oh, then there's the GROCERY SHOPPING and taking the KIDS TO SCHOOL and oh, maybe, going off the property to VISIT someone now and again. Oh, and YOU CAN'T HEAR A DAMNED THING WHEN YOU'RE USING POWER TOOLS, oh and we SLEEP.

You have no effing idea how fast this shit can happen if you think on man or one well armed family can defend their animals 24X7.

F*CK you and the HORSE YOU CAME IN ON for saying we've got to stay at home and shoot at any fucking dog that comes on our property. Sure, I shoot and my friends do too, but there's good number of cows, chickens and horses I know of who've been mauled EVEN IN THEIR BARNS at NIGHT or when they owners have been away for any of the reasons above.

Oh, and if ya'll don't think rural 'merica's got guns, just come out to my place any old weekend and listen to the neighbors exercise their second amendment rights.

Poor little pony. That just makes me ill to see.
I hear you Anon @ 9:19 AM. I've known lots of farmers, even with hot wire around your property the dogs will still get in. The wildlife does way less damage than one single dog.

When the hell did I say you had to stay home all the time? I didn't even insinuate that - you brought that little tidbit with you.

Everything ain't about you, champ. I would say your outburst is more about your own insecurity and self doubt than anything else. If you can't take care of your animals properly perhaps you should not have them. A pit bull attack is not the only thing that can go wrong.

It also proves the pit nuts aren't the only crazy ones out there.

My horse was mauled while I was sitting on him. Pit bull maulings happen VERY quickly.

I think I said I saw a pit bull breed magazine for sale at a farm supply store. I was just taken aback. Yes, a pit fighting and bull baiting dog is a lovely addition to your farm(?!)

In my area any dog off lead, on the property of anyone other than the owner can be shot on sight. That's the usual outcome for any dog trespassing or causing mischief.

Another no-kill "sanctuary" raided:

http://www.abcactionnews.com//dpp/news/region_sarasota_manatee/bradenton/300-animals-seized-at-bradenton-sanctuary

http://www.napierfamilyfarm.com/

This farm was adopting out horses as well as dogs (some of which were pit mixes), and charging a $550 "adoption" fee for certain purebreds.

Your a fucking Un educated idiot. Hiding behind a computer blocking you identity like a pussy. Much like the pieces of shit from pitbull propaganda machine revealed. At least the people who are working so hard to Dave these dogs from the horrific acts done to them and promoting responsible owner ship aren't afraid to let it be known who we are. And by the way my name is Chris I have two pit bulls and they have helped many of people as they are certified therapy dogs. There are good and bads in any species but none like humans. If you knew and told the truth about what happens to these dogs maybe you could see something in a different light but no your a close minded bigget.

Rumpelstiltskin said...

Chris,

I understand your anger and I know the reason you enjoy your pit dogs. I find it disturbing you'd rage on people who only want to keep the streets safe of pit bulls and as you can see from this article, also innocent farm animals.

I know you don't understand anyone here so I'll just speak to you in your own language:

GO FUCK YOURSELF!

PS. Nobody here believes you own pit bull "therapy dogs". If it was true "it's all in how you raise them", you've proven that there is no possible way for you to raise anything with a stable temperament.

Hello Dawn,

I have some new essay ideas I will be sharing within the next week or so.

Interesting about Orange county... I see the policy falling flat on its face. Considering that most people adopt based on breed, what good does hiding the breed accomplish? If I live in an efficiency apartment, with a pet size limit of 30 LBS does the breed not matter? Sure, there is NO physical difference between a chihuahua and a great dane. You know, I think these people have outsmarted me... I wish I were as smart as them.

scurrilous amateur blogger said...

looking forward to your blog. i always enjoy reading your thoughts on the subject of dogs.

yeah, if only we were all that smart, and by smart, i mean psychopathic. we'd all be much better off.

That poor little pony to be dropped off at a new home only to be greeted by roaming maulers. I hate these dogs. It is unnatural for something to attack an innocent little pony. I just think about the little child who might have been getting the precious pony as a gift and I don't know how a pony could even recover from such a terrible mauling. I hate these dogs. I hate that people let them loose.

And the pit nutter above who is long gone... what is there to be "educated" about? LOOK AT THE PONY. What else is there to freaking know?

BSL does nothing and is completely unfair. Pit bulls in and of themselves are not the problem. Now, before you start tearing into me for this comment, let me fully explain what I mean, and where I stand.

The term "pit bull" covers nothing more than a type. Anything that has short fur and a muscly head that is not any clearly identifiable breed, is dubbed a "pit bull". The problem here was NOT the dogs breed in and of itself. First off, for APBT and other similar breeds especially, certain things should be seen to when breeding them.
First and foremost is health. If it has hereditary health problems, it should not be bred. Second is temperament. If it shows ANY kind of aggression in ANY situation, then it should not be bred. Last is the desired conformation. The problem, is that many breeders forgo the first 2 necessities in favour of the third. The only dogs that should be bred in this breed especially, are those with the sweetest temperament that are the least reactive. If the breeder uses a breeding bench, then that dog has a bad temperament, which will lead to puppies with bad temperaments, which leads to situations like this. If aggression can be bred into a dog, then it can most certainly be bred out of it.

Now, in this situation specifically; first, there was an inappropriately bred PB involved. Second, the dog was allowed to wander. THIS should never be allowed to happen, no matter what. A dog should be kept under full control at all times. A dog should not be left free outside unsupervised. EVER. Of course accidents happen but if this was a common state for the dog to be in, then the owner was VERY irresponsible and should not have had ANY kind of dog, let alone one that already has such a bad rep.

Often, the problem with America and other such countries, is that if a dog shows aggression, or has bitten someone but not mauled them, nothing is done about it. Laws that are already in place are not enforced. If a dog shows aggression, but the owner doesn't want to put it down, then they should NEVER let their dog outside without a muzzle on. I don't care if they are only going out for a bathroom break, they are not to go without a muzzle. This pony should never have had to suffer this.

Breed is not indicative of everything. ANY breed has vicious individuals. ANY dog that shows aggression towards any living thing should be muzzled and desexed.
