San Francisco Nutter Alert

hoping the owners will come forward is a pipe dream. if he had any intention of taking responsibility, he wouldn't have yelled at the victim and fled. someone needs to turn him in.

That beagle mix is precious.

Poor little dog. I'd have given that mauler a few good whacks with the sledgehammer.

Did anybody notice in the ad before the video there is a promotion for a Pitbull concert? And how many other grippers are shown in the background shots of the park. Geesh, I wouldn't dream of taking my dogs to a park loaded with grippers like that.

I'm glad the dog's owner was able to afford the medical bills, but hope the culprit can be found, his dog dirt-napped, and himself made to pay with money and jail time. Ahhhh, if only I were queen of the world. :-)

i didn't see that ad. maybe the ads rotate randomly.

never judge someone by their colour....rather by their dog .lol

Anon: I agree. He's so emotive. Look that those eyes!

$3300! If the shock of the attack and the pain for your dog wasn't enough, that's a huge bill you didn't need!

Hopefully that belt will make him easier to identify. Looks like he's on break at construction-job work or something.

Not that I want to detract from focusing on the plight of the victim, but is that woman at the end a pit nutter? The end of the video makes no sense. "Opponents of the off-leash park"? There's a cream-and-blonde pit bull with a ball, maybe it's hers...

That grey poodle is handsome too.

I tried to make an appointment to board my retriever at a local doggy day care. They said they are no longer accepting large dogs...I think I suspect why. It's just easier to say "no large dogs" rather than "no fighting breeds." This is a terrible shame for harmless large dogs, which is the vast majority.

Packhorse, that's too bad. Owners of doggy daycares are often nut cases.

Every daycare in my city is happy to invite pit bulls, and many actively seek them out as members. Meanwhile, not a single one of them will accept my intact, totally non-aggressive 8 lb. Papillon (for their small-dog room, of course). Most won't even allow him in a private kennel, due to their perception that "intact male dogs are a danger to the staff and other dogs"! Geesh.

Here's my "dangerous" intact dog running agility this past weekend:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WilswJtffI

You can see (NOT!) how they might imagine him mauling a poor little pittie wiggle-butt or taking out an adult human that dares to enter his kennel to clean it...

petsmart says no to grippers. there are a few private businesses who restrict them. i suspect they don't broadcast their ban because of nutter backlash.

if i had a dog business, i would also restrict testicles, as well as intact females. i think i they are overwhelmingly problematic. my dogs have always copped an attitude when medium to large intact males attempt to dominate or mount them. my dogs are more annoyed with yellow jackets than small males who attempt mounting. a papillion wouldn't be a problem for my 75 lb dog but he might be a problem for other small dogs.

for the life of me, i can't understand why testicles are allowed in a dog park. i would be thrilled if there was a federal law against it. i don't care how well trained, testicles and ovaries should never be in a dog park.

i used to go to dog parks all of the time. now i limit attendance to rainy days when no one is there. the three biggest problems in a dog park are breed, testicles and inattentive owners. combining the three makes for an especially toxic situation.

Another problem is people bringing female dogs that are in heat to dog parks. Even neutered males get their interest peaked, and there are usually fights.

I've had the opposite problem with neutered males bum rushing my unneutered male and being pushy and aggressive. A lot of the "he's friendly!" dogs are just rude dogs that rush up and fling a leg over my dog's back and try to take him to the ground. It's the equivalent of a stranger sitting on you and farting in your face.
My dog just likes to be left alone and will ignore other dogs completely unless they invade his personal bubble in an aggressive fashion. He pinched one of the neighbor's dogs who was running around out of control off his property. Of course, I was told that my vicious dog shouldn't be outside because he made her dog squeak. My unfixed dogs are better behaved than the majority of fixed - and unfixed - dogs. Hell, they don't even bark at stuff.

orangedog said...

Yeah, I would never bring a bitch in heat to a dog park. I actually gave up on dog parks years ago after seeing how inattentive most people were. My little girl plays nicely with every dog she's met, but I'd never take her to a dog park to be subjected to all the rude dogs. We only do "play dates".

i didn't mean to imply that neutered males were not a problem, i've just found those with testicles to be a bigger problem. my dogs don't respond well to pushy or dominant neutered males but if you add testosterone to the mix, their reaction is worse. the problem with intact females is, males can detect the period just before they come into heat. i saw it happen at a dog park, even one of my neutered males was interested in her in a manner that i hadn't seen before, then scuffles began erupting among some of the males, some of them unneutered. the dingbat with the female said, "she is getting ready to come into heat." i lit into her and left. wtf is wrong with people?

mine spends too much time polishing his nutz to a dull glow for me to want to take them away from him .

orangedog said...

I think there are a ton of bad owners that think their rude, pushy dog is being friendly - testicles make it worse. Combine with pit bulls who have a zero margin of error and it's a catastrophe.

Anonymous said...

i dont let mine interact with other dogs , with a couple of exceptions . i think he knows all about mutants and what they love to do to nice dogs .

Another vet gets to retire a month early after another pit bull windfall...

Quite frankly, these taxpayer subsidized dog parks should be put on hold until the breeder and owner licensing problem is fixed. In CA; it is estimated 87 percent of dog breeders fail to obtain the business license and don't pay sales/income tax. Then, almost 80 percent Owners fail to pay license fees.

Why does funding for this organized chaos come out of the general fund?!?

San Francisco is the capital for pit bull sympathizers. Many of the PB owners are hipsters-- professionals working at the dot com companies like Google and FB. They can afford any purebred dog but adopting a shitbull is how they show the world what "good people" they.

This nice man is very naive about the real world of dog parks. Did he really expect that fat pig with an Obama phone was going offer to pay his vet bills?

San Francisco has become a shit hole, dangerous city even at the dog parks.
